Holidays in Mevagissey

Stay in Mevagissey and you’ll be perfectly placed to explore all that the south coast of Cornwall has to offer. Take a ferry trip to Fowey, visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan or spend a day at the beach at the nearby Pentewan Sands.

Best known for its harbour and fishing boats, Mevagissey still boasts as being part of Cornwall’s thriving fishing industry. Fresh fish can even be bought from the hut on the harbour wall, located a short stroll from the village aquarium, once the lifeboat station. Wander around the harbour area, with its narrow streets, fascinating shops and galleries and recall its smuggling history, or just relax in the bars and restaurants and coves and on nearby beaches.

There is a ferry boat which runs from end of April to beginning of October from Mevagissey to Fowey three or four times a day (don’t miss the return journey!) – journey time about 35 minutes. You may be lucky and spot some playful dolphins!

Excellent location in the centre of town. Well equipped and lovely decor. Absolutely perfect for us and our little dog.

The approach to the cottage and spiral staircase to the lounge would be a struggle for anyone with mobility problems, we also had to carry out dog down them so could be difficult for a big dog.

We are glad to hear that Tern Cottage worked so well for you. The spiral staircase and sloped cobbled street leading to the property should definitely be taken into consideration if your mobility is limited in any way, so we include notes on this on the website. For anyone interested in this lovely little property, who may be concerned about this, please do not hesitate to contact the team so that we can check if it will be suitable for all members of your party. Lovely cosy cottage in a great location. The restaurants and bars nearby are excellent and a very short stroll away. I'm not sure if the website mentions it, but the sofa in the lounge is a sofa bed so could sleep more people. I ended up looking up the heaters online to work out how to use them but they turned out to be very easy! I just didn't want to press the wrong buttons haha. Would definitely stay again.

The owners have a sofa bed in there for personal use, but it is not an advertised facility as us and the owner of Tern Cottage do not feel that the property would provide enough space for any more people than advertised. We are sorry that the instruction manual had disappeared, the owner is writing up a new one immediately. Thank you for letting us know and we hope to see you back here again soon. Great time at Mevagissey. Tern cottage was very comfy and well placed for the harbour.

Tern cottage is the perfect getaway for two people, in an ideal location in the centre of Mevagissey. Tucked away from the main harbour the cottage is full of charm and character. It is worth noting that the cottage is split over three levels with a steep, wooden staircase leading to the living room. Tern Cottage is in a fabulous location to explore Mevagissey, nestled in the streets overlooking the harbour. Small and compact, perfect size for a couple and a dog. Pack lightly as unloading the car is a small walk away, but the car parking permit in willow car park is a god send. Cute and cosy for a couples break in Cornwall.

We had a lovely stay at stern cottage

We had a great stay at Tern Cottage! The location is fantastic, being just one road back from the main harbour. The Fountain Inn is a lovely little pub at the end of the road. Views from the main bedroom were better than expected! It is cosy but worked fine for us as a small family with a 10 year old. The only area that really lacks space is the bathroom, which was smaller than expected. Parking at the Willow car park wasn't an issue, literally a 5 minute walk from the cottage and always had plenty of spaces. Good place to unload / pack the car nearby which was detailed on arrival instructions perfectly. Spiral staircase wasn't as steep as expected but I understand why it gets mentioned, watch out for the low ceiling and it could be slippery if not taking care. There is a 'gate' at the top though which can close it off if you have any concerns with smaller children (not mentioned in the description and we didn't notice it till half way through our visit). Really nicely decorated and furnished. Added bonus of a heated clothes airer we found in the utility room. This was our first holiday in Mevagissey and I suspect won't be our last! If you're looking for a delightful harbour town with plenty of restaurants this is where you need to go! It's Padstow, but without the crowds and over priced celebrity chef restaurants - we'll be back! P.S. Would recommend pre booking restaurants for your visit as we saw many people who hadn't booked turned away. But if you do book, make sure you turn up as several fantastic restaurants we visited were left with empty tables thanks to no shows and it was really disappointing to see.

We really enjoyed our stay in Tern Cottage. The cottage has obviously recently been renovated and is fitted out with good quality furniture, kitchen, bedding and towels etc - all very nice. Tern Cottage is ideally located (although the approach is up a small steep path) just one street back from the harbour in Mevagissey, with numerous shops and restaurants which are all very nice, our favourite was Harbour Tavern. Booking with Aspect Holiday was easy and straight forward, instructions before hand and during our stay were clear. We would highly recommend this accommodation for a small family or couple.

Tern Cottage is charming! Small but stylish and comfortable and in a great location. The view from the double bedroom, of the harbour was an unexpected delight! A great base from which to explore lovely Mevagissey and the surrounding area.

We had a lovely week in Tern Cottage, great location, very clean, well equipped and the 3 floor layout worked very well. Super harbour view from the bedroom, cosy lounge on the ground floor. Very hard to fault and we would definitely return to the property.

Tern Cottage is beautifully presented and totally relaxing. However fabulous your days are you will find yourself looking forward to returning to your cottage each evening!

What a great week we had at Tern Cottage, Mevagissey is such a pretty little fishing village we loved ?? It so much. So many amazing little shops full of lovely things to buy we got some amazing bits and bobs. We had great fun exploring all the beeches close by and even enjoyed driving to place such as St Ives and St Michael’s Mount just stunning places to visit. Tern Cottage was so amazing it really makes you feel as if you live there as soon as you walk in the front door. It has everything you could possibly need and was very beautifully decorated with beautiful things from all the shops in Mevagissey. We would recommend this place and Mevagissey to anyone. I loved Tern Cottage and Mevagissey! The location was ideal for me with shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs and the fabulous harbour all within a couple of minutes walk. The bed and sofa were very comfortable, I liked the individual touches within the property and the view from the bedroom window. I had a great time and look forward to my return!

Tern Cottage is well maintained, warm, clean and very comfortable. The quality fixtures and fittings makes for a very pleasant stay. The spiral staircase wasn’t a problem for us and we are in our 70’sand 80’s. We would highly recommend the cottage as a good holiday base for the area.

Tern Cottage is an excellent property. It is well put together and provides all the facilities you would expect. It is in a great location and the view from the main bedroom in the morning (and evening) is exceptional. Our 10 year old daughter loved the second room with its window seat. We would definitely stay there again.

Tern Cottage is a lovely, typical Cornish cottage, and has been beautifully furnished. It is ideal for two adults plus a small child. Great location and very comfortable inside. We had a very enjoyable week there, making the most of Meva and it’s surrounding area, including some dolphin spotting!

What a gorgeous cottage! Lovely views from bedroom window and really great spot in the town. The furnishings and fittings are very good quality and lovely comfy beds. Check in was easy and would definitely go back again. Perfect size for 3 adults.

We loved Tern cottage as soon as we opened the door, perfect location. So comfortable and cosy, Tern cottage had everything you need for time away.
