Step into this traditional cottage, decorated with a seaside theme. Porthole Cottage invites the family to experience the harbourside holiday in Mevagissey. The interior of the cottage is cosy but spacious, leather sofas furnish the living area and make the ideal spot to sprawl out and relax after a day at the beach. The kitchen is equally spacious and makes a wonderful social area for drinks and nibbles while dinner is being prepared. The lovely nautical bedrooms offer you comfy beds for a relaxed feel. Whatever the season, Porthole Cottage will provide you with a magical stay.

Enjoy a walk around the harbour and you're in for a treat. Brightly coloured boats bob in the water and colourful buildings climb the valley on three sides. Follow the narrow streets, and discover galleries, craft workshops, independent boutiques and lots of excellent places to grab a bite to eat or a drink. Spend the day at the beaches nearby where you can enjoy watersports, ice creams and swim in the clear blue waters. With Mevagissey still a working fishing village, you can take to the water yourself on one of the many sightseeing or fishing boats. Trips offer you a unique chance to explore the stunning coastline or to indulge in some sea angling, and maybe bringing home your own fish for dinner.

Holidays in Mevagissey

Stay in Mevagissey and you’ll be perfectly placed to explore all that the south coast of Cornwall has to offer. Take a ferry trip to Fowey, visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan or spend a day at the beach at the nearby Pentewan Sands.

Best known for its harbour and fishing boats, Mevagissey still boasts as being part of Cornwall’s thriving fishing industry. Fresh fish can even be bought from the hut on the harbour wall, located a short stroll from the village aquarium, once the lifeboat station. Wander around the harbour area, with its narrow streets, fascinating shops and galleries and recall its smuggling history, or just relax in the bars and restaurants and coves and on nearby beaches.

There is a ferry boat which runs from end of April to beginning of October from Mevagissey to Fowey three or four times a day (don’t miss the return journey!) – journey time about 35 minutes. You may be lucky and spot some playful dolphins!

Great cottage but cleaner needs to pay more attention to detail.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

Thank you for your review. It's great to hear you enjoyed your time at the cottage - it's certainly a fan favourite! We were sorry to hear you felt there were some areas of cleanliness that could've been improved, this is very unusual for the owner's housekeeper and so we will bring this to their attention as to avoid this happening again in the future. Should you book with us again, we would always encourage guests to contact us during your stay so we can rectify this for you in order to get your holiday back on track as quickly as possible. Very pleasant holiday in Porthole Cottage, which is located just a short walk from Mevagissey harbour. Arrived in the village early and called in Aspects office due to another query. Knowing we’d arrived, office staff made arrangements with cleaning team for my family to get into property earlier than agreed time. I was not expecting this, but incredibly grateful so thank you. Lovely welcome pack of cream tea with locally made jam in cottage which was well received. Cottage beautiful and well stocked with all the gadgets and equipment needed to provide a comfortable stay for a family of four. Would definitely recommend to others. Thank you and all the best.

Lovely, tidy, and well equipped holiday cottage a short walk from the harbour. Decent size rooms and close to parking areas. We booked and paid for the weekly parking pass when booking the holiday.

Fabulous locations, perfect for a family, well maintained and beautifully decorated. Harbour in walking distance, lots of lovely places to eat around the harbour and plenty of crabs for crabbing!

Parking no problem at Willow and all very friendly and helpful.

Really enjoyed our stay, everything was as in description, thanks again regards Delia and Bob Gibson

The cottage was located in perfect distance from the car park and the harbour of mevagissey. A perfect week away!

Lovely holiday home in the centre of the beautiful village of Mevagissey. Very handy for parking, shops & the harbour. Lovely welcome pack of scones, jam & clotted cream was waiting for us on arrival. Very clean & tastefully decorated. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely week at Porthole Cottage, Mevagissey - great location, lots of space, lovely and clean with everything we needed for a lovely week away. Thank you

We had a great week at Porthole cottage. Tucked away but still very near to the harbour. It was comfortable, well decorated and clean and so very quiet and peaceful at night! A great base to explore South Cornwall.

Great cottage in the centre of Mevagissey and a great base for exploring Cornwall, the parking charges through aspect are very competitively priced. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider using them for cottages elsewhere in their portfolio.

Cottage is lovely, well presented and the blackout blinds in the bedrooms were a very welcome surprise. Lots of utensils, pots and pans in the kitchen, we’ve found you often get tatty old stuff and not enough pans, but there was plenty. The surfaces were beautifully clean, but the floors were very dirty, Aspects did sort it out but it was disappointing. Fantastic location to walk to the harbour, pubs, restaurants and shops.

We would again like to apologise for that oversight. You should always expect the property to be 100% for you and can understand your disappointment. I am glad that this was sorted out quickly for you though and glad to hear that you still enjoyed the property and the fantastic location of Porthole Cottage. Tanya, Customer Services EDIT: The owners have since replaced all the flooring in the cottage

We have had a lovely week staying in Porthole Cottage. It was very clean and comfortable especially important during these Covid times. We felt very safe with the precautions Aspects holidays followed. We loved the homely touches of the decor and the cosy feel of Porthole Cottage. The location was perfect for us and although the cottage has no views it is only a minutes walk to the harbour with its shops and restaurants. Despite the close proximity to everything it is in very quiet and peaceful courtyard. No noise - not even seagulls! Mevagissy is a lovely little town- not too busy and we had lovely walks to the neighbouring bays. We cannot recommend enough.

Lovely little cottage tucked away from the main road and perfectly positioned for being able to explore all that Mevagissey has to see.

Excellent value for money x fully equipped with everything you could possibly need x welcome milk and biscuits in the fridge was a lovely touch x information pack full of useful information x highly recommend x definitely use this company again x

Porthole Cottage makes an excellent base for exploring South Cornwall. You will need to pay for parking at Sunny Corner car park a few yards away but this is very convenient. There is a cosy lounge with TV, a well-equipped kitchen (both on the ground floor) double bedroom and bathroom on the first floor and a twin bed room on the second floor. Tip - there is a Cashpoint at the post office / newsagents in Mevagissey.

We had a fantastic week. New refurbished to a high standard the cottage was very comfortable and had everything you could need. In an excellent but still very quiet location just a couple of mins away from the harbour means you have all the restaurants and bars and Mevagissey attractions right on the door step which is fantastic. Look forward to a return visit - Gary, Gwyn and Zara
