Pondokkie is the perfect holiday home for families or groups holidaying together. Spend time just enjoying the captivating sea views, whether from inside or outside, of this comfortable home from home. With four good sized bedrooms as well as a snug, designed especially for the kids to play in, and a well equipped kitchen with all the appliances you could need, you can't fail to switch off and fully embrace the Cornish way of life. With plenty of room for everyone to relax in, as well as a large dining table and more dining space out in the garden, Pondokkie is ideal for spending quality time with your nearest and dearest, whatever the weather.
Take a leisurely walk down into Mevagissey, and follow the streets that are bursting with history, offering visitors an array of amenities, including some lovely cafes, restaurants, shops and wonderfully cosy pubs. If you fancy a day on the beach, then Pentewan beach or Caerhays are just a short drive away, where you can enjoy kayaking before grabbing some well earned lunch from the cafe.

bedroom 1 and 2 are on the ground floor, the property is situated in an elevated position so may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. Five steps from sun terrace to garden. Oil heating. Parking for two cars, WiFi, up to two dogs welcome, short breaks available.
We have just returned from a short break at Pondokkie situated on the hillside above Mevagissey with views across to Chapel Point. A car is essential to get around. We had a comfortable stay with very pleasant owners on site if needed. We can recommend.

Best known for its harbour and fishing boats, Mevagissey still boasts as being part of Cornwall’s thriving fishing industry. Fresh fish can even be bought from the hut on the harbour wall, located a short stroll from the village aquarium, once the lifeboat station. Wander around the harbour area, with its narrow streets, fascinating shops and galleries and recall its smuggling history, or just relax in the bars and restaurants and coves and on nearby beaches.
If you are lucky enough to be here during Mevagissey Feast Week in the summer, do take full advantage of the activities being held. Said to be the oldest festival in Cornwall, it attracts exhibitions, live music, parades, a fete and wonderful firework display.
There is a ferry boat which runs from end of April to beginning of October from Mevagissey to Fowey three or four times a day (don’t miss the return journey!) – journey time about 35 minutes. You may be lucky and spot some playful dolphins!
Pentewan Beach is the nearest large sandy beach situated a little north of Mevagissey. Please note that dogs are not allowed on the beach from 1 March to 1 November.
Polstreath Beach is also known as Mevagissey beach. It is located just north of Mevagissey and is accessed via the coastal path and steep steps down to the cove.
Gorran Haven beach can be reached via the coastal path, or is just a short drive away. Just two miles from Mevagissey, the quaint village of Gorran Haven has some lovely pubs and cafés, and a gorgeous sandy beach which is a great spot for swimming and kayaking.
There are some wonderful walks in and around Mevagissey, especially if you take the coastal path. You can head south to Gorran Haven, a small fishing village with a beautiful beach, just two miles from Mevagissey. Alternatively, if you travel north, you can head towards Pentewen, another small village with a lovely beach. From Pentewen, you can take the trail through the woods, or if you prefer, you can hire a bike from Pentewen to explore the woodland on wheels.

The Falmouth Spring Festival is a wonderful early season celebration of coast, community and culture. Falmouth town and its community will be celebrating spring with a range of events and activities throughout the week. The town will be painted yellow with daffodils and decorations and spring clean days will see the beaches and towns tidied up.

Henri Lloyd Falmouth Week is one of the largest sailing regatta's in the south west with more than 300 yachts racing over eight days.There is also a full events line-up which includes entertainment in Falmouth's Events Square and offsite activities such as outdoor film screenings and Red Arrow displays.

The Fowey Royal Regatta includes sailing contests, a carnival, the crowning of the Fowey Queen, a pasty eating contest, and as per tradition, a giant pasty which is shared out among the community.

The Mevagissey Shanty Festival is taking place across various harbourside venues. There will be lots of shanty and accapella groups from all over the Uk entertaining the crowds throughout the weekend. The event begins at 7pm on the Friday and will continue on the Saturday at 11am.The main stage will be at the Mevagissey Activity Centre where there will also be a Cornish beer festival going on at the same venue.

A festival of light delights the crowds who line the streets to see a parade of giant handmade lanterns. All manner of samba, brass and pipe bands process alongside, accompanied by flamboyant dancers. Pondokkie is a fantastic house for families with teenagers. We all had our own space but also lots of space to be a family. The house is comfortable and provides everything you need for a home from home holiday. The views are amazing. Mevagissey is a nice traditional Cornish fishing village. We would all strongly recommend. The owners are the most delightful people; so generous and kind. They really care and help with plans for the day and night. Thank you!!!

Pondokkie is an absolute delight and a credit to the owners Jo and Paul who were always on hand if needed but never imposing. The house is so comfortable and we immediately felt relaxed given the homely feel to the property. Views are memorable and location also excellent. We liked it so much we’ve already planned our return visit.

We've had an amazing stay in Pondokkie. The house is lovely, with everything that you could ever need. And what has topped it off is seeing those stunning sea views every morning over breakfast. Tilly has loved running around the beautiful garden playing with a ball!

House was lovely and comfortable and in a quiet location. Great sea views. Walk back up hill takes about 10-15 mins for a relatively fit person. Owner who lives next door very welcoming and helpful.
