Holidays in Porthleven

Whatever you love about Cornwall, we’re sure you'll find it while enjoying a holiday in Porthleven. Relax and enjoy the boats bobbing in the harbour, pull on the walking boots and join the coastal path to Rinsey and Praa Sands, take a short drive to nearby Marazion and the iconic St Michael's Mount, or hit the waves and surf until sunset.

This charming fishing town has a relaxing atmosphere; it's gorgeous in the Summer and dramatic during the Winter. The granite harbour and pier with its famous clock tower has become an iconic storm-watching spot during wild wintry weather and offers a tranquil setting on calmer days.

Take a short break out of season in Porthleven and avoid the hubbub on the roads and beaches. Soak up the sun on the harbour front and watch the fishing boats pass by. Catch the first glimpses of colour from the acres of Cornish daffodils in early spring with the sea as a back drop as you drive from coast to coast. With easy access to the coastal footpath, head east to discover Gunwalloe Fishing Cove, Polurnan Cliffs and Mullion Cove or head west and marvel at Praa Sands, Perranuthnoe and Marazion.

Take a short walk from Porthleven and reach the coarse sand of Porthleven beach, reaching two miles south as far as Loe Bar, a sand spit separating the sea and forming Loe Pool, the largest freshwater lake in Cornwall.

Porthleven harbour is an enjoyable place to relax, with its cafés, pubs and restaurants providing the perfect place for you to sit outside and watch the world float by!

Top tip

Like storm watching? Visit in winter and you may be lucky enough to experience huge waves crashing over the clock tower!

A lovely cottage in a great location near the bustling harbour of Porthleven. Very comfortable, clean and well appointed. Handy for walks, local pubs and restaurants.

Porthcressa is a lovely home to stay in fantastic location in Porthlevan Very clean and well equipped plus an outside loo Bathroom was massive with big bath plus good size shower. Towels.tea towels and a cornish cream tea very nice A decent sized front garden with table and chairs washing line was handy for drying clothes. The house would be easy big enough for 4 people A massive bonus to have a car space tho need to be careful when reversing in to space. We stayed for 2 weeks and loved being able to go out in the evening either for a drink or a walk. Hoping to return next year the weather for our holidays the last 3 years has been glorious in the middle 2 weeks of June. Our neighbours next door were really friendly so we're the people living around us Overall an excellent place to stay and central for getting to Praa Sands and The Marazion don't drive to St Ives get the train from St Erth railway £12.10 to park and return for 2 people

Second time we have stayed here, very comfortable, nice new kitchen though didn't use it much (special occasion, ate out most of week). Car parking a big bonus and easy stroll into harbour. Ideal place for a lazy break or to explore the wonderful Lizard peninsular. Feel at home here, hope to return.

Wonderful week in this lovely cottage. Lovely touch by the owners to leave us a cream tea and bottle of wine. Great that there is a parking space - large enough for a big car. We love Porthleven and will definitely return to Porthcressa.

We have just returned from another relaxing week in Porthcressa, Porthleven, a lovely spacious cottage in a great location which is quiet and peaceful but also very close to the harbour and beach. The cottage is beautifully furnished and has absolutely everything you could need. We have stayed several times and plan to book again. An added bonus is that Porthcressa has a parking space and also a lovely garden. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

Mr and Mrs P.

Staying here was a pleasure. The house is clean, well-maintained and spacious.

It's very close to the centre of Porthleven while still feeling peaceful. It was an easy walk to get supplies before heading out for the day. The car parking space makes life so much easier when packing for days out - on this holiday we needed lots of different clothing options due to being unlucky with the weather. On the sunny days the garden was a nice space for breakfast, and we also made use of the small porch.

We had a wonderful time here and would definitely use it again in the future!

Lovely clean cottage in a great location. Parking space included and 5 minutes walk from the harbour which had enough eateries and pubs to choose from.

A lovely property in a great location, which is also pretty good value for money. Porthleven is also a great location as a base to explore this area of Cornwall, with plenty of amenities on the doorstep.

The cottage was really lovely, very comfortable and in a great location for Porthleven harbour and shops/restaurants. We loved the welcome tray of a festive afternoon tea as well as chocs and wine, and staying there at Christmas time was lovely as the house was festively decorated and gave it an extra cosy feel. We would definitely come again if visiting the area in future.

We had a lovely few days at Porthcressa. The location is excellent- very short walk to the harbour, shops and places to eat. The cottage is well equipped, comfortable and clean and we loved the cream tea and wine which was waiting for us on arrival! Thank you.

" thank you aspect holidays for a nice stay at porthcressa" All lovely and clean apart from a bit of a musty smell in the lounge area. Fully equipped, but we ate out mostly. Have been coming to porthleven for 19 years now. And we both love it.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are sorry to hear that you noticed a bit of a smell. We will speak to the housekeeper there and get that investigated. These things can just come and go with the weather, or if a property hasn't had windows opened to ventilate it for a bit. Thanks for letting us know and we hope to see you back here again soon. Tanya, Customer Services

We were so pleased that we booked Porthcressa, a charming cottage located in the heart of Porthleven. It was a superb base for our holiday with the picturesque harbour and village shops and restaurants less than a 5 minutes walk. Also a big plus was its off street parking as Porthleven (or Porth Heaven as the locals call it) is we are told getting very popular. Lovely south facing sunny garden with umbrella for shade and table for eating our local crab and pasties outside. Cottage was super clean and a lovely welcoming atmosphere. Excellent bathroom too much needed after jumping in the harbour and swimming Porthleven sandy beach. We shall be returning again and bringing our friends with us. Thank you very much for a lovely holiday!

We've stayed at Porthcressa before. It's a cosy and comfortable property in the centre of the village and close to the harbour. Very well presented and the new kitchen has everything you need if you decide to eat in. The prosecco and cream tea gifts were a lovely surprise on arrival. Many thanks.
