Watch the morning sunrise, while the cows casually graze over the expanse of emerald fields, with the ancient engine houses as a backdrop from the rear bedrooms at Chy Kres. On a clear day, spot a lonely boat setting sail across the ocean in the distance from the front bedroom, with a piping hot cup of Cornish coffee in hand. Beautifully and thoughtfully furnished, sleeping six, with parking for up to four cars and accepting pets, Chy Kres has a fully enclosed rear garden, which means the furry members of the family can enjoy a wonderful Cornish holiday too. The second bedroom has a daybed style single bed with an additional trundle bed underneath and with a TV in this bedroom too, it makes a perfect escape from the grown-ups, for the younger ones in the family. Chy Kres is ideally located for morning rambles along the nearby South West Coast Path, which provides the most sensational sea views; grab this opportunity to re-attune with nature and appreciate life's simple pleasures. Follow the winding path from the lighthouse at Pendeen Watch, and head to the golden sands of the enchanting Portheras Cove, for an afternoon of sunbathing, swimming and seal spotting. When you return home to Chy Kres after a busy day exploring, pour a cold glass of gin and tonic and sit on the front garden bench, watching the warm ambers of a memorable sunset over the distant sea views. Prepare a culinary delight in the well-equipped kitchen and either dine al fresco or gather together around the dining table and plan the next day's adventures.

Chy Kres is peacefully tucked away but just a short stroll from the cottage takes you into the heart of the village, where you will find a local shop for everyday essentials and the village pubs. Dine out and leave the car behind to enjoy the local ales and dinner at The North Inn or The Radjel Inn. Maria Chica tapas cafe is a must visit for lunch or dinner. Priding themselves on wishing everyone to experience the feeling of togetherness over their delicious food, this is a very popular choice for locals too. Also located in the village, Geevor Tin Mine was the last mine to work the famous St Just Mining District. It is now a year-round family friendly, heritage attraction and museum, with a cafe that serves incredible breakfasts. The village of St Just is just a short drive away and with more wild, rugged, unspoilt coastline at Cape Cornwall and the surf calling at Sennen Cove, you don't have to venture too far to find so much more to explore. Catch the bus from Pendeen into St Ives and enjoy the hustle and bustle and wealth of shops, galleries and fine eateries; there is something for everyone. Chy Kres is a peaceful, home from home; a perfect base to create special family memories and somewhere you will want to return to year after year.

Holidays in Pendeen

Once a thriving mining area, Pendeen is home to the award winning Geevor Tin Mine Museum, which was one of the last mines in the country to close. Retaining the feel of a traditional Cornish village, and with stunning scenery on the doorstep, Pendeen is perfect for a self catering summer holiday, out of season visit, or short break.

Although secluded, theres still plenty on offer in this part of West Cornwall. Situated in a National Landscape (formerly Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), Pendeen is also recognised as a site of special scientific interest and a world heritage site. Pendeen is the perfect place to explore the ancient sites of Chun Castle and Chun Quoit, and the rugged coastline for which North Cornwall is renowned. Walkers will be in their element with access to the South West Coast Path, and many inland walks.

Top tip

Property was excellent but surrounding area a bit disappointing. It was rather wet & stormy so probably not seen in the best light. We were mainly visiting relatives so did not bother us & was good & cosy to come back to. The North Inn was good for food & drink & very friendly.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed Chy Kres as a property, though sorry to hear that the area was not for you. Pendeen is an amazing location for some beautiful coastal walks but is a little distance from the facilities and hustle and bustle of towns, so if you are looking for a good selection of shops, restaurants and activities, this will not be for you. For something more relaxed and away from the hustle and bustle, with easy access to beautiful walks and nature, this is a great location. Though some dry days and sunshine certainly help to show it off at its best ;-) If you need any advice on finding a property in a location more suited to you in the future, our sales team are more than happy to help. Had a fabulous week at Chy Kres. From the moment we drove up to the front we were pleasantly surprised at how lovely the cottage was. Nice quiet spot tucked away off a quiet road, but only a few minutes walk to the village with shop and pubs. Inside, the cottage was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated, loved all the artwork from local artists. From the front rooms you have a view of the sea and from the back bedrooms a pleasant view of the countryside and old mines.

The location was a great base for exploring this area of Cornwall as you have Penzance, Newlyn, St Just and Mousehole all within 20 minutes. There is also access to the coast past which we went on every day (a 10 minute run or 5 minute drive). The fenced in garden was great for our dog, with plenty of walks straight from the cottage. Perfectly set up for families as well, our two year old had a great time.

Thank you so much, we hope to return again soon!

Lovely cottage, like a second home, second visit at this time of the year, (my little dog walked in and said her second home too!). Great facilities with everything that you need. Ideal location for walks, swimming and surfing or just resting! Must visits are Sennen Cove, Porthleven, Botallack, Mousehole, Minack Theatre to mention just a few!! Personally love the easy access to both the north and south coasts of Cornwall.

A lovely, well equipped and comfortable cottage. Great décor & furnishings very thoughtfully put together. Excellent kitchen too! Even the dog loved it ??

Very lovely cottage with three good sized bedrooms, family bathroom and downstairs toilet. The whole cottage feels spacious even though five of us were staying, we had plenty of room. It is stylishly furnished with comfortable beds and plenty of parking. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and equipment making it very easy to self cater. Situated within easy walking distance of a local Spar shop and three pubs (although we were told that The Radjel Inn is due to close down soon). We ate at the Trewellard Arms where the food was very good. Unfortunately, the local fish and chip shop was always closed when we were there and the Tapas bar also has shut down. The tin coastline is absolutely spectacular and lots of very beautiful coastal walks to be had. Would definitely recommend both the cottage and the area which even though we were there in August, felt peaceful and quiet yet still within easy travelling distance to busier resorts like St. Ives.

It was a lovely stay. We enjoyed the local beach and the local facilities

Very comfortable, light and airy cottage. Super comfy bed We were very pleased, would certainly consider this property again. Thank you for the milk, tea, coffee and biscuits, they were a lovely welcome!

A lovely comfortable stay. The cottage was well equipped with very comfy beds. The views of the sunset were amazing and it was just a short walk to the lighthouse and coves. Lovely pubs and restaurants close by and Penzance for all your main amenities was only a short drive away. We would certainly recommend this cottage!

I can honestly say that this is one of the nicest, cleanest, and most comfortable, well equipped holiday homes I have ever stayed at, and in such a beautifully located place!! The shop and pub are just a couple of minutes walk away, and the lighthouse is also very close, and a lovely walk, especially when sunset is approaching! Every room is immaculate and well thought out, and we had such a lovely stay here. I researched various houses and cottages for weeks, before settling on this one, and I’m so glad I did!! We have always stayed somewhere different in Cornwall, each time we visit, to see different parts of the coastline, but as soon as I got home I’ve booked here again, as it was so perfect for us and our Dog! The welcome hamper was a lovely thought too…thank you very much.

A lovely little property in a great location. Easy access to lots of the major towns and beaches such as St Ives, Sennen Cove, Lands end and Penzance. The property was equipped with everything we could think of and the welcome hamper was a lovely gesture. The village of Pendeen is lovely and has some great facilities such as 2 pubs, spar shop for essentials and a lovely walk down to the light house. Would recommend to others and will 100% be returning.

Fantastic accommodation, spacious, clean and well equipped with everything you could need. Amazing views to both front/rear windows. Lovely quiet location, only a short distance from stunning beaches. Ample parking and enclosed garden makes this a perfect place for those with dogs.
