Holidays in Mullion

Situated in a National Landscape (formerly Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) on the Lizard Peninsula, Mullion is a quaint village much unchanged by time. Its harbour, now owned by the National Trust, was built in the 1890’s for the pilchard fishing industry. Half a mile offshore is the uninhabited Mullion Island, home to large colonies of sea birds, also protected by the National Trust.

Famous for its history of smuggling, Mullion is the largest village on The Lizard, with a working harbour and the 15th century church of St Mellanus. This traditional Cornish village is perfect for a relaxing holiday for families or couples alike. Visitors can experience the village lifestyle; pop to the shops for some local produce, purchase cake from the independent cafes and enjoy a drink at the village pub. Additionally, it's a great base for those looking to explore the beautiful scenery on The Lizard. Walk along the South West Coast Path and be treated to some of the best views in Cornwall.

Whilst Mullion is a relatively small village, there’s plenty to do during your holiday. As well as the facilities within the village itself, visitors can pop to the local craft centre, visit one of the nearby beaches, enjoy a round of golf or go kayaking from the harbour.

dogs are welcome at Mullion Cove all year round!

Beaches

Mullion Cove Beach:

Mullion Cove Beach is a small, sheltered cove next to the historic lifeboat station, with a further sandy stretch, accessible at low tide, just around the corner from the harbour. The beach and harbour are owned and looked after by the National Trust. Parking is available at the harbour, along with toilets and a café. Dogs are welcome all year round but the beach is not lifeguarded.

Pollurian Beach:

Pollurian beach is a beautiful west-facing, sandy beach which is partly sheltered by the high cliffs that flank the beach. Though difficult to get to, the beach is popular with locals and visitors alike, and surfers when the swell is good. There is no parking at the beach, so it’s best to park at Mullion and walk the coastal path to the reach the beach. Dogs are welcome outside of the summer season, while lifeguards are present at weekends only, during the summer season.

Poldhu Cove:

Popular with the locals for its café with famous hot chocolates, Poldhu Cove is a wonderful beach for families, also owned by the National Trust.
