Holidays in Tintagel

Famous for its Norman castle perched on the rugged north coast of Cornwall, Tintagel is a village steeped in history. With scenery unlike any other, the castle ruins nestled into the coastline give an awe-inspiring, fairy-tale like panorama not to be missed.

Located on the rugged north coast of Cornwall, Tintagel is a truly unique location that must be seen to be believed; ruins of the once powerful castle emerge from the rocky cliff edge, telling a story of times gone by.

After exploring the quaint village, which simply must include a visit to the famous Tintagel Old Post Office, begin your ascent to Tintagel Castle and cross the newly completed bridge, reconnecting Tintagel’s divided landscape.

Did you know...

Tintagel is said to be the birthplace of King Arthur!

Things to do in Tintagel

No visit to Tintagel is complete without exploring Tintagel Castle and the history that encompasses it. In addition, Tintagel Old Post Office is well worth a visit; an atmospheric 14th century building, home to a display of Victorian postal equipment and furniture dating back to the 16th century.

Venture out of the village, and head to St Nectan’s Glen, the sacred site of a sixth century saint. Here you’ll find a magnificent 60 foot waterfall, which cascades into the beautiful valley below.

If you’re in need of a relaxing day at the beach, Bossiney Cove, located just a mile east of Tintagel, has a beautiful small sandy beach.

Walks around Tintagel

Arguably one of most spectacular stretches of coastline along the South West Coast Path, this expanse of coast is wild and rugged. Don your walking boots and head north towards Boscastle, and south to Port Isaac.

Modern, beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean, bright and airy. The house has a real home from home feeling and comes equipped with everything you need for a great family holiday. Comfortable, and spacious bedrooms with plenty of storage. We were lucky enough to have great weather during our stay and took full advantage of the outdoor seating and dining area at the back of the house. Quiet, peaceful location and just a short walk to the local high street to find shops and restaurants. The cliff tops are only a short walk from the house where you can sit and watch the beautiful sunset. Or you can walk along the coastal path to the nearest beach where there is a great pub! We loved it, would definitely recommend.
