We had a lovely time! The cottage (and hosts) are really dog friendly and provided everything we needed for a self-catered stay. We arrived to homemade bread, scones and jam, really lovely touch. The hot tub really made our holiday, having a soak after a long day out exploring was so welcome. Location is great for visiting spots in North Cornwall and South isn't too far away. Hosts were around if you needed anything but respected our privacy and their two little dogs were adorable. Would recommend :)

Holidays in Mawgan Porth

Mawgan Porth is a peaceful area on the North coast of Cornwall situated between Newquay and Padstow. With beautiful scenery, a sandy beach and fantastic walking and cycle routes, it’s perfect for a beachside holiday.

Located on the rugged north coast with a large sandy beach, Mawgan Porth is perfect for a restful holiday in a quiet setting away from the busier nearby towns. Just a stone’s throw from the beach you’ll find a café, pub, restaurant and fish and chip shop, so you can grab some food after a long day at the beach.

Top tip

Feeling energetic? Walk the coast path to Padstow and enjoy some breathtaking views along the way!

Mawgan Porth beach

This west facing beach is sheltered by high cliffs on either side and even at high tide there’s plenty of room for everyone. With lifeguards during the summer, and dogs allowed all year on the beach, the whole family will be able to enjoy sunny days on the sand. From sunbathing and swimming, to rock pooling and body boarding, there’s something for everyone.

Walks

Take the coastal path north from Mawgan Porth to head to Padstow, and south to visit Newquay. Pop on your walking shoes and take in the spectacular views as you ramble the South West Coast Path.

Hegarty’s Cottage, what a lovely place. The location is great, close to Mawgan Porth beach and Watergate bay too. Both places have great beaches and places to eat and drink, there’s also a pub just a few minutes walk away, lovely beer garden and a decent food menu too. Declan & Jean the owners were fantastic, When we arrived they came and showed us around and how things worked etc. they had also popped a fresh homemade loaf of bread inside along with Scones, clotted cream and a selection of homemade jams. All of which were delicious. It’s a very peaceful location and the hot tub was amazing and perfectly positioned to watch the sun set. There was also some patio furniture so you could sit outside and enjoy the afternoon sun and a clothes line for drying swimwear. There was also a wetsuit drying area which is a great idea, although we didn’t use it ourselves. The cottage had everything you could possibly need for your weeks holiday. The only negative was the beds, didn’t feel overly sturdy, the mattress wasn’t great and you could feel the springs. The second bedroom was quite a squeeze, but when you are only sleeping in there you can manage, plus there’s a wardrobe so you can hang all of your clothes up and hide your suitcases under the bed. Aspects were incredibly easy to deal with and I would have no hesitation in using again, I booked only a few days before arrival and phoned to book after seeing it online but wanting to make sure it was available. Booking process easy and the whole thing was done in a few minutes. Plenty of arrival info and local info too.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review, we are so pleased to hear you enjoyed Hegarty's Cottage and its fabulous location. It sounds like the owners left you some lovely goodies! We are sorry to hear that you found the mattress uncomfortable; it can be very difficult to find a mattress that will suit everyone, and it is disappointing to hear that it may not have been to your preference, however we have passed your feedback straight onto the owners so that they can check it over. We try to ensure that our photos and description accurately reflect the space available, so we are sorry if the second bedroom was smaller than you had anticipated. It is lovely to hear you would book again with Aspects and we would be more than happy to assist with your next holiday. Thanks again for your comments and we hope to see you back in Cornwall soon.
