Paddleboarding around a Cornish cove with Falmouth Surf School

On a sunny September morning a group from Aspects Holidays were lucky enough to be invited on a paddleboarding session with Falmouth Surf School. Five of us headed over to Maenporth beach, Falmouth, on a day where luckily the sea was flat, calm and like glass, perfect paddleboarding conditions!

Nay and Matt, owners of Falmouth Surf School, provided us with all the necessary equipment: paddleboards, paddles, wetsuits, and lifejackets and gave us a safety talk and brief lesson on how to paddleboard, though learning on the water as you go is the way forward.

After getting the hang of standing up and turning, we headed round the corner to some hidden coves and swim-through caves to explore. Nay and Matt have great knowledge of the local area and the safest places to paddleboard and discover.

We paddled over to the other side of Maenporth to explore a cool shipwreck, we were given snorkels and masks to get a good look at the vessel and the marine life around too. September is a great time of year for this sort of activity, with the beaches being quieter but the sea still on the warmer side.

We took a leisurely paddle back and Nay surprised us with a little SUP Yoga taster session! We were taught some simple positions like downward dog and plank; balance is key with this. As well as paddleboarding and Sup Yoga, Falmouth Surf School offer kayak hire, surf lessons and beach yoga. You can find out all about them and how to book here.

We spent a couple of hours down at Maenporth exploring the area and improving our paddleboarding skills (after falling off a few times). We headed back to shore to enjoy a hot drink from Life’s A Beach Café to finish off an adventure filled morning out of the office!
