December 2023

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming holiday cottage, and it was an absolute delight. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated, with a cozy and rustic feel that immediately put us in the holiday spirit. The cottage was well-equipped with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay, including a fully stocked kitchen, a comfortable living area, and a lovely view of the picturesque surroundings to enjoy a morning coffee. The furnishings are idea for a young families, within a few metres of the harbour beach. One of the highlights of our stay was the location. The cottage is nestled in an idyllic setting, surrounded by the peaceful harbour. It provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of working life. Overall, our experience at this holiday cottage was just right. It's the ideal place for a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway. We left feeling refreshed and grateful for the wonderful memories we created during our stay. We can't wait to return to this cosy cottage.

Holidays at The Wharf

Many of our cottages at The Wharf overlook the working harbour of St Ives. Here you'll find fishing boats, a gorgeous sandy beach and in the summer season you can take advantage of the boat trips on offer. Home to The RNLI, The St Ives Lifeboat Station is close by and is a popular attraction with tourists.

The Wharf, otherwise known as St Ives harbour, is a hive of activity throughout the year. With a continual hustle and bustle on the water and along the harbour front, there is always plenty to do and see while self catering at the Wharf, even at the quieter times of the year.  It’s an ever changing scene so perfect for those artists among you. Don’t forget about the very sheltered, sandy Harbour Beach, a perfect sun-trap in the heart of town and a great place to find seaglass and sea pottery! As night falls at the end of another perfect day, St Ives comes alive with a selection of bars, restaurants and cafés to suit every pocket and every taste in a truly cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Top tip

Be careful of the seagulls when eating at The Wharf.

Things to do on The Wharf

Boat Trips

Why not enjoy the scenery by boat and explore the coastline with an excursion with St Ives Boat Trips. Fishing trips are available for those looking for a bit of adventure, or for a more relaxing experience, a visit to seal island lets you see seals basking on the rocks at certain times of year.

Eating and Drinking

The Wharf is home to a wide selection of restaurants and cafes, serving up fresh fish and chips to gourmet burgers, with something to suit everyone. Enjoy an ice cream or Cornish pasty and watch the world go by on the harbour front, but remember to keep your wits about you; seagulls in St Ives are renowned for swooping in and stealing food right from your hands!

Smeaton's Pier

From here you'll get a stunning view of the harbour, and an up close view of the crystal clear waters. At the entrance to the pier you'll find St Leonard's Chapel; originally dedicated for local fisherman, it is now a museum and memorial for the fisherman of St Ives.

Lifeboat station

Home to the new £1.5 million lifeboat, the RNLI lifeboat station is a popular attraction for visitors to St Ives. The gift shop next door sells souvenirs where all profits go towards helping to save lives at sea.

We had a fabulous holiday in St Ives and really enjoyed staying at Friendship Cottage. It is ideally located - with easy access to all the beaches and shops, and wonderful sea views from the main rooms. We hope to book it again for next year.

The cottage is located on the harbour front Easy to unload your luggage etc Fantastic views across the bay.. We will be back

Friendship cottage is a beautiful place to stay , Every thing you need is provided ,and the welcome tray was a lovely touch . Very clean and fresh and the view is just stunning . On the doorstep of the harbour and close to beaches . I would definitely stay here again .

Fabulous St. Ives. A great week in Friendship cottage.

Really enjoyed our stay at friendship cottage and would definitely look to book again! Possibly the best location and such a great size for St Ives! Really impressed with the complimentary items and the cottage on a whole was well worth the price. Yes, a few things could do with some attention but this is expected with such an old building, and the noise is noticeable if you like to sleep in but for a young family it's actually just perfect! Thank you for a wonderful holiday!

A lovely, comfortable property with superb views over the harbour and centrally located within easy reach of all facilities and beaches. Please be aware that we were very conscious of noises coming from the above apartment. The property description mentions this, but if you are bothered about hearing other holidaymakers, this is not the property for you.

A beautiful place to stay and watch the daily life of St Ives unfold.

Lovely property with fantastic views and great location. Would definitely stay here again.

Great holiday. Friendship Cottage is convenient for everything. A few things could be added/updated but we prefer it not to be a show house. Everything you need is available. Have booked it again for next year which will be th year running.

Lovely accommodation, excellent location

We’ve spent an amazing week at the Friendship Cottage. Lovely apartment, perfect for a family, great location and stunning view. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely week in Friendship Cottage. It is in the most perfect position and if we’d known about it when our children were young we would have stayed there all the time. We definitely want to go back there. Sitting in the window watching the tide and the comings and goings in the harbour was so relaxing. We had a lot of rain but we were warm and cosy inside and did not feel we were missing time in St Ives because of our brilliant vantage point. I would highly recommend staying in this place.

A very comfortable property with fabulous views and a super location if you like to be in the heart of the St Ives experience.

Friendship Cottage has to be the best located apartment in St Ives. The views of the harbour are superb and being able to hear the waving crashing against the harbour wall at night makes evenings truly relaxing. Highly recommended.

I'm not sure any comments we have would be published as we were disappointed due to noise of the flat above.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We always want to be completely open and honest and will publish all reviews unless they go against the review guidelines that are available to view on our website. We are very sorry to hear of your disappointment due to the noise from upstairs. Whilst this cottage has an apartment above and one below, and with that and its central location, there may be a risk of associated noise, we haven't had this raised to us before. However, the property upstairs is also a holiday let, so with different guests in there each week, we would hope that the level of disturbance that you experienced was a one-off. We will closely monitor for further feedback and have a chat with the agents that market the upstairs apartment, should any other issues be raised. Thank you for letting us know. Beautiful homely place and in a lovely central location

A wonderful cottage that's perfect for a family and felt like home from the moment we arrived.

Great location let down by poor interior. A great pity.

Thank you for your comments; we are pleased to report that since your feedback, the owners of the property painted throughout, replaced sofas, rugs and curtains and TV. Hopefully if you are ever looking to return, you will have the opportunity to see these improvements. We hope that you still enjoyed it there and thanks again for letting us know your thoughts. A great location and well suited for a family, lovely views would stay here again
