The stunning golden sands of Porthmeor beach are only a five minute walk away too. The property is set over four floors, has lots of character and is well equipped.

At the front of the cottage there is a small patio area with bistro table and chairs and to the rear, on the ground floor there is a small shared courtyard with your own bench, so you can make the best of the sunshine. The brilliant snug room allows the children to watch what they want, while the rest of the party have some quiet time together. It's an all round winner! "Tykky Dyw" is Cornish for "Butterfly".

Lovely cottage in a great location for everything. Very well equipped. The 2 flights of extremely steep steps down to the toilet and shower caused some problems for us as older customers but we managed. Sitting out front in the small garden with a glass of wine was a joy!

Perfect cottage. Everything has been considered. Amazing location. Super clean and dressed beautifully. It is very much a fisherman’s cottage. The stairs are very steep. Something to really consider if you have mobility issues or children. We used the stair gate to stop our dog potentially judging them wrong.

Thank you for your comments, you can't beat the central location that Tykky Dyw has to offer - tucked away down a little street, you can enjoy some peace and quiet before stepping into everything St Ives has to offer; including all the local beaches, cafes, restaurants, shops and pubs! A large number of properties within the heart of St Ives are traditional cottages. They are packed full of character inside and out, but do have steeper stairs than more modern properties. We know this is an important feature so we do try to advertise this clearly on the website, but if you have any concerns when booking we would be more than happy to help with any questions. Katy, Customer Services.

Really lovely cottage but please read the advisory re steepness of stairs. Great location .

The location is fabulous, the cottage itself was really comfortable. Aspects dealt with any problems very quickly, a great place to stay for a break away.

Lovely cottage in a great location for everything. Very well equipped. The 2 flights of extremely steep steps down to the toilet and shower caused some problems for us as older customers but we managed. Sitting out front in the small garden with a glass of wine was a joy!

Had a great week in Tyyky Dyw, perfect location to all beaches, very well equipped kitchen, ideal holiday home.

Lovely holiday as always in St Ives. Tykky Dyw is in a perfect quiet location just off the buzz of the harbour.

Location Location Location - was amazing!

The cottage is very Narrow inside we were a family of 5 for 2 weeks and it felt very small! The stairs are steep on all floors, bedrooms are good sizes. I thought the bathroom being on the ground floor would be a problem but it really wasn't.

Overall the house is good, in a great spot. I would stay again for 1 week purely for the location.

Stayed here as a family of 4. Excellent location, cottage clean and well equipped.

The bathroom is located on the basement level so not convenient if you need the toilet in the night. The stairs are very steep and narrow, small children will need help going up and down these. The access to the top twin room is definitely not for anyone tall. I could only leave this bedroom by sliding out on my bum. My daughter had a bumped head as she is quite tall also. This however would not put me off booking this cottage again. Excellent location (just off from the Wharf and near to Olive’s cafe). The seagulls did not keep anyone awake at night. Excellent holiday had by everyone ??????????

We are glad that you liked it there. The location really is fantastic, isn't it? It is a lovely little traditional fisherman's cottage, which is packed full of the quirkiness and character that you would expect from these sorts of properties. The layout and steep narrow stairs may not suit everyone, so we try to make all this as clear as we can within the website description, so we hope that this was what you had expected. It certainly sounds like you had a great time; hopefully we can look forward to welcoming back again soon. Tanya, Customer Services

I’ve booked holidays with Aspects the majority of my annual stays in St Ives and they’ve always been excellent properties. Tykky Dyw is great for location and charm, would be inconvenient for some because of the multi floor layout, but I loved it for that. It has all the usual amenities and is clean and in good order. It is versatile and has extra bedding, as advertised.

We had a great holiday staying at Tykky dyw. It was comfortable and perfect location and would definitely stay here again.

This property is so well equipped & located in St Ives. Please do take into consideration the stairs. Although I have arthritis I quickly became used to them & was quite sprightly by the end of my weekend! They are integral to the beautiful character of this property.

Loved this little cottage! We booked again for next year as soon as we got there. The parking is something to content with though, so we left our car in the island car park for the duration of the stay. Luckily all the beaches, town and restaurants are literally a few minutes walk from the front door. Would highly recommend

Tykky Dyw is in a perfect location within St.Ives. You are never more than a few minutes from several beaches and the harbour (30 second walk), but it is still in a very quiet and private position. Although there is no parking space provided, we managed to get close enough to unload our gear and found a much sort after parking space nearby (we were so lucky with the weather that we didn't move the car all week!). The cottage could do with a lick of paint and a bit of modernisation, but it is a great place to stay.

We are glad that you liked it here. Thanks for sending on your thoughts about the paintwork. With the earlier part of the year being a lot busier than normal once the lockdown rules were relaxed, properties have already seen a larger number of bookings than usual for this time of year, and with that, more wear than usual. Your feedback is sent straight on to owners, and we will also check on this and highlight it in our next inspection if it still needs addressing at that time. Thanks again and hopefully we will see you back in Cornwall soon. Tanya, Customer Services

Great location, very comfortable, very well equipped too, nespresso pods etc. nice touch to have bottle of Prosecco for us too. Definitely will come again

lovely property but a bit small for our family, 2 teenagers 2 adults and one child . and dog , very central to all beaches which was great . excellent hot shower was the best thing .Would of liked a king size bed as we were a bit squashed, but all in all we had a great time as always. Thanks .xx

Many properties within the heart of St Ives are traditional fisherman's cottages. They are packed full of character inside and out, but often a little smaller and layouts/stairs more quirky and steeper than in more modern buildings, so whilst this 2-bedroom property sleeps 5 and accepts dogs; it may not suit all parties when fully occupied and may be an important consideration when booking any property like this. We always try to be as open and honest as possible and try to give an accurate representation of properties within our photos, so hope that we have achieved that in this case, but we will continue to monitor feedback. We are glad that you had a great time and enjoyed the amazing location. Thank you for taking the time to send in your comments. Tanya, Customer Services.

Great location, great house, be careful of the stairs.

The cottage is in a great location right in the centre of town. It is a sweet old fishermans cottage and it is not suitable for elderly as it has very steep, narrow stairs. But this is part of its character and just how they are. The biggest downside is that the beds were very uncomfortable. The springs stuck out, they swayed and moved during the night every time you moved and no one had a full nights sleep the whole time. The sofas were the same, very hard and uncomfortable. Such a shame. We all went home looking forward to a good nights sleep.

Thanks for your helpful comments and we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the absolutely amazing location of this property; you really can't get much closer to all of the amazing sights in St Ives; tucked away from it all, yet just a stroll around the corner to the harbour! These traditional fisherman's cottages are packed full of character and charm but with that, you do often have some quirky layouts and steeper, narrower stairs than in more modern properties. We try to make this as clear as we can within the description, so we do hope that it was what you had expected. We also wanted to thank you for your comments on the mattresses and sofas, though sorry to hear that you found them uncomfortable. It can be very difficult to find mattresses and sofas that will suit everyone's preferences and these aren't things that guests have commented on before from looking through past feedback. However, we are pleased to report that the top bedroom mattress has now been changed and the owners have informed us that the other mattresses will be replaced at the end of the season. The sofas on the other hand are new, but extra measures are currently in place given current circumstances, which include the removal of some of the cushions and throws. As a result they may not be quite as comfortable as usual, but this is expected to just be a temporary measure. We will keep a close eye on any further feedback though. We hope that you otherwise enjoyed your time here and hopefully we will see you back again soon. Tanya, Customer Services

Great location, very quick walk to Harbour Beach & also Porthmeor Beach. Well equipped property, TV’s in all bedrooms & lounge. Great hot shower. But the stair cases are very steep & the bathroom & kitchen is on the very ground floor/1/2 basement level meaning if you want to use the toilet in the night you will have at least two flight of steep stairs to negotiate.

A wonderfully relaxing week in a beautiful place. Can’t wait to come again.

Good location. Toilet on the bottom of four floors not good during the night.

Excellent service by staff, as needed to move accommedation staff acted first class.

We were so sorry that there had been a need to move you from your original choice of property, but we were so glad that Tykky Dyw worked out as a good alternative for your stay here in St Ives. Hope to see you back again soon. Tanya, Customer Services

Perfect stay at Tykky Dyw! Myself and my family had a lovely stay, the cottage was clean, well decorated, perfect for a family of 4/5 with a dog and a great central location. The staff at Aspects were really easy to deal with, friendly, accommodating and will sure to be using them in the future when choosing a holiday rental.

Only heads up about the property is that it is across 4 stories and very steep stairs going to every level, so was a bit of a pain after a while and my mother really struggled. Also be prepared for some frustration parking as there is no parking near the property and the car parks are jam packed and take several laps ready to swoop!

With the town’s history as a fishing village, it wasn't built to cater for the traffic that we have now, so unfortunately parking is at a premium; if you are looking at booking a property without parking, please feel free to call our team who can advise on nearest car parks and private parking facilities that may be of help. Thank you for taking the time to send in your comments. Tanya, Customer Services

Tykky Dyw is in a lovely location . A very warm cosy house . Front and back entrance plus courtyard are great if you hv surfers in the family . Kitchen facilities are good and cottage has a great shower . St Ives as always is gorgeous.

Fantastic holiday home it was just perfect with everything we needed to make our two week stay the best. Thank you Aspects

It's a very nice cottage in a great location just off the harbour. Lots of character. Would not be suitable for anyone with mobility problems or very young children as there are three flights of steep stairs but as a family of four with a 10 year old and a 12 year old we really enjoyed it.

Fantastic property in a wonderful location. Everything you’d need for a stay is provided. Best of all, the dog loved it.

Perfect location, but property very small - attic room not for anyone who isn’t very agile as steps exceptionally steep.

Thank you for your comments and glad to hear that you enjoyed your time here, and the fantastic location of Tykky Dyw. Being an old fishing village, many of the old cottages, whilst packed full of character inside and out, can be a little smaller and can have slightly quirky layouts, steeper stairs and lower ceiling heights than in more modern buildings. It is definitely an important consideration when booking a property like this. We always try to be as open and honest as possible, and try to give an accurate representation of properties within our photos and descriptions, so we hope that we have achieved that in this case, but we will continue to monitor feedback. We hope that it suited all members of your party, and hope that you enjoyed everything that St Ives had to offer. Thank you for taking the time to send in your comments. Tanya, Customer Services.

Cosy cottage in tucked-away location, ideal for small family wanting to watch four TVs at once!
