Sennen is the most westerly parish in the UK, nestled between Cape Cornwall and Land's End. Part of the village; the mediaeval church of St. Sennen with its low granite tower, the school, and the First & Last Inn are at the top of the cliff; with some older cottages 300 feet below by the quay, along with the Old Success, a seventeenth-century inn.
Sennen Cove is still a fishing village and home of Sennen Lifeboat. Established in 1853, The Royal National Lifeboat Institution`s Sennen Cove Station is situated just one mile northeast of Land’s End.

Sennen is a prime location for surfing in Cornwall. With swell coming in from the Atlantic, the surf is good all year round and can be better than the more crowded surfing destinations such as Newquay. With two surf schools based at Sennen you'll be in good hands when it comes to learning the ropes.
Cornwall is full to the coastal corners of beautiful places to stay so we've rounded up 10 of our favourites to help you find the right spot for you.
Take a walk along the coast from Land's End to the beautiful and hidden Nanjizel beach; one of Cornwall's most spectacular beaches. Porthcurno is also only a short drive away with its beautiful beaches and the breathtaking Minack Theatre, showing regular outdoor performances throughout the summer months.
South from Sennen Cove you can walk the coastal path to Land’s End. Just over a mile as the chough flies, but all along the south-west coastal path you must allow for the uphill stretches and twisty bits of headland which make the walks longer.
Whitesand Bay, white as the name suggests, stretches northwards from Sennen Cove to Gwynver beach. Gwynver is accessible from Whitesand at low tide; and down steep steps from Trevedra Cliff at high tide. On New Year’s Day it’s become a bit of a tradition for hardy folk to jump into the Whitesand waves for a swim. The south-west coastal footpath runs along Whitesand behind the dunes. No dogs are allowed on the beach between 15th May and the 30th September, between 10am and 6pm.
Although it feels tucked away in the far west, Sennen self catering holidays are perfect for exploring West Penwith.
Every year, the people of Mousehole celebrate the bravery of Tom Bawcock. Years ago, when the boats couldn't get out in the storms, the villages had no fish to eat. Tom dared to take his boat out and returned with enough fish to make a Star Gazey fish pie for the whole village.

Longships Lighthouse
The iconic Longships Lighthouse sits on Carn Bras, the biggest in a ribbon of jagged rocks just offshore. It appears curiously tall when seen from the road approaching Land's End. Just for a moment Longships seems to have landed at the holiday complex but it's all an illusion of topography. The galleon and helicopter might be set in cement in Land’s End square but the lighthouse is exactly where it should be, a mile off shore.
Land’s End:
Sennen Church is about a mile from the Land’s End Visitor Centre, where you can find Land’s End Hotel & restaurant, First & Last House, shops, cafe, exhibitions. It is famed for the signpost, at which you can have your photograph taken as one arm says Land’ End and the other your home town. There are weekly firework displays, special events and family entertainment. The best approach to the complex is via the coastal path, the sea views are magnificent. On an overcast day the visitor centre has much to occupy children.
Apple Tree Café, Trevescan
When self catering in Sennen, a place not to be missed is The Apple Tree Café at Trevescan, a left turn just before Land’s End. Home of Nick’s delicious home-made bread. It’s family friendly, amazing cakes, tea garden. A perfect place to meet before walking or after walking or probably before and after.
From the Apple Tree Cafe, you can walk into Land’s End; you can walk across the fields to the coastal path. All you need is the O/S Pathfinder or O/S Explorer 7 (Land’s End, Penzance and St Ives). If you can find one, get a copy of a book called ‘West of HayleRiver’ by Gerald and Sylvia Priestland. It is brim-full of walks, pictures and information about places and legends across the whole of West Penwith.

Cute cottage. Lovely to have a separate fenced garden per cottage. Mince pies and cream greeted us upon our arrival which was a nice touch. Grounds are very picturesque but the ford across the stream is in short dangerous and resulted in damage to our vehicle. I would Advice always parking in the parking bays prior to the ford. Otherwise, lovely cottage and a good base to explore the area.

We had a fabulous week at The Barn, which is located in a beautiful tranquil setting. The grounds and garden are spectacular- we loved the sound of the stream at the end of the garden. The Barn is very well equipped and has been lovingly renovated. The scones and tea were a lovely touch and quickly devoured after a long journey. We look forward to a return visit.

A beautiful cottage to escape the rigours of the world for a while. The garden is wonderfully managed, allowing for a wild feeling whilst still containing an array of cottage plants and flowers to attract bees and birds. The robins were regular visitors to our garden table and doorstep. A peaceful and relaxing hideaway for two…and your dog if you have one (ours loved it).

We were really looking forward to our stay at Alsia Barn as the pictures made it look real quality. It was though a real disappointment. We were subjected to a great deal of noise from the ceiling which at first we thought was rodents but in the end we concluded was some form of insects munching away. The bedroom and bathroom had various patches of mould on walls, doors and blinds along with two large deposits of bird mess not cleaned from the bedroom windows. The shower went from from perfect to cold and then scalding without the controls being touched. The large house which is very close which we were not aware of when booking which can have up to 11 guests was occupied and thankfully the people were quiet, this could be an issue with other occupiers. Clearly not in the control of the owners but the trees adjacent to the cottage on the property had 10+ Jackdaws roosting and they started making noise that woke us at 4am most mornings and made it difficult to sleep after.
Given the activity in the ceiling my wife would of left early but couldn't as we had another booking elsewhere in Cornwall for the next week. She was on edge for the first few days after hearing the noises. Not what you want when looking for a peaceful retreat.

We were so sorry to hear of your disappointment. The owner has since had pest control investigate the noise, and we would like to reassure you that no pest/insect activity was found in the ceiling/roof area. We have had reports previously of leaves from the trees above scraping on the roof, so we are wondering if perhaps it was associated with that, and it was just more noticeable at night. We will continue to monitor this though, so thank you for making us aware. We were sorry to hear that you had been disappointed with areas of cleaning. We would have loved to have been able to send the owners housekeeper back to rectify any of this, but we appreciate that you preferred to not return to the property to the smell of cleaning products, so we asked that this was double checked by the housekeeper after your departure. Sorry that we had not been aware of any concerns regarding the bedroom at the time though. The owner has a window cleaner attend once a month to try and ensure that the windows are looking their best for guests, but as you can appreciate, being in that area with so many trees around, surrounded by nature, bird mess will appear from time to time. We will continue to monitor feedback, and if it sounds as though the frequency of the cleans needs to be increased, we will discuss this with the owner. We also have someone checking the shower on the next changeover and the blinds which have been marked from condensation are being replaced. The owner is just waiting on the new ones arriving. We aways try to be open and honest with our property descriptions and photos so we were also sorry to hear that you weren't expecting it to be near other properties. As part of the Alsia Mill estate, we try to show the house, studio and barns in the photos. We were genuinely saddened to hear that you would have left early as that is never what we would want, and we know how much everyone looks forward to their holidays, but we hope that you still enjoyed your time exploring this beautiful part of the country, despite your disappointment with the property itself. We loved everything about The Barn and the grounds it was in. It is cosy and surprisingly spacious. The bed is large and extremely comfortable. The garden gets the late afternoon sun, which is perfect after a day out. Aspects / property owner exceeded expectations in sorting out a small problem without any fuss.

Great location for the lowest areas of Cornwall - Portcurno &: Sennen beaches a short drive. Beautiful gardens to sit in or wander around. We very much enjoyed our 2 weeks at the Barn ( helped by first 9 days of sunshine !) Everything about the Barn was good - kitchen, TV reception, comfy sofa, heating, excellent WiFi, SuperKing bed, the only negative is the shower which despite a new one being fitted two days in to our stay lacks adequate water pressure, we think because of the eco water system, it's now ok and wouldn't put us off staying but if you are used to high pressure luxurious showers at home or on your holidays be aware this is not that.
Penzance close for 3 supermarkets, personally we did not rate the town itself (compared to say Falmouth) however 'Mermaid Alley' in New Street is a must for lunch or dinner.
Aspects Holiday personnel are all excellent and we would not hesitate to book our Cornish holidays with them again.

Quiet, comfortable, clean. Lovely big private garden. The barn had everything we needed except for a bbq, so we took our own, which we have now left there for the next visitors to use. We were very lucky to have quiet families staying in the main house, so noise was never an issue. It is close to all the main beaches - 10 min drive to most places.
Aspects Holidays wasn't very clear on what items would be provided at the house and items that would not be provided, especially now during COVID.
There was no dishwashing liquid or hand soap provided, and only 1 loo roll, which is fine, but it would have been helpful to know to take those things.
All in all, a wonderful, peaceful stay. We would definitely book again.

We have tried to communicate as best as possible, what may or may not be provided in the current circumstances, and send a bit of a guide in an email that is sent out before you arrive, but with every property being individually owned, it is at the discretion of the property owner and their housekeeper (whilst following government recommendations) as to what exactly is left in the property for guests. The usual welcome pack is not being provided at the moment, but some owners may have agreed a more basic pack with their housekeepers. We have just spent a return visit to the Barn ar Alsia mill. The property was spotless as usual, with a very welcome cream tea laid out. The grounds are beautifully tended and the spring flowers were stunning. This time of the year the log fire each evening was a joy, and the huge supply of logs very useful, thank you. We find the entrance to the property easier to manage if approached from the St Buryan end of the road rather than the Sennen end This property is a great place to chill out and really relax away from the crowds.

Very disappointing to find on our arrival to Alsia Barn in St Buryan Penzance at the start of our holiday, the property had not been prepared for our arrival, the cottage was left in a disgusting, dirty state,we had to wait for over an hour and a half after the handover time of 3pm to enter the property whilst it was cleaned and prepared the cleaners did not arrive till 3.20pm thus we were left waiting till 4.40pm in the car whilst they cleaned, I suggest the owners find better service agents.

Alisa Mill Barn is set in one of the most beautiful gardens I can imagine. It was a complete delight to be staying in this magic location. So much work must go in to making these grounds look and feel the way they do. The barn itself is lovely such a gem, very comfortable and easy to spend time in, very carefully and thoughtfully renovated. Joyous views of the garden from all the windows. We were blessed with some lovely weather and greatly enjoyed just sitting by the stream and listening to the rooks in the trees above. Our poodle Violet was also very fond of the stream. Of course, being equidistant from Sennen Cove and Porthcurno the two best beaches in England is also amazing. We are definitely coming back.

We are pleased to report that the property owner has now had a wired connection installed from the main house and a new wifi access point installed in the Barn, to overcome the issues with the signal in The Barn. This has been monitored since, with no further disruption to the service, so if you were to return, you should not have that same experience. We are very sorry that there had been issues with the wifi during your stay. Due to the location of this property, it seems that the signal can occasionally be intermittent. Absolutely stunning and unique gardens surrounding this beautiful barn conversion. Truly a very special place, even had an ancient and accessible well in the neighbouring field. A 'must stay' property.

The cottage was extremely warm and cosy, - great log burner and the free logs was an unexpected bonus. It is well placed to visit known beauty spots.
A very good local post office/local store was just a short convenient journey away. Friendly and helpful staff.
Grounds were superb, wonderful for our elderly Springer Spaniel, and me!!
