Praa Sands Holidays

Praa Sands (pronounced 'pray' sands), is the perfect place to enjoy a holiday. Great surf and surf hire facilities are on your doorstep along with the coast path and spectacular scenery. Read about surfing in Praa Sands on our blog: Ten of the best surf spots in Cornwall.

Praa Sands’ nine-hole golf course is only minutes away, or for those who prefer a bit of history, Pengersick Castle is a short walk away where there are plenty of stories about the wrecking and smuggling that took place in the bay until the 18th century. Right on the beach is Sandbar, a modern and bright restaurant/bar with magnificent views across the ocean. Read more about Sandbar on our blog.

What's nearby:

Just seven miles away from Praa Sands is Penzance, a town with an eclectic mix of art studios, historic buildings, well stocked shops and award-winning restaurants. Visiting Marazion is a must when staying here, as the stunning St Michael's Mount found here is just a short drive away. This mystical tidal island provides the perfect backdrop for a walk along Marazion beach and offers an interesting day out. Helston, six miles away, is an ancient market town and gateway to the Lizard peninsula. Hayle, also six miles away, has a new, easily accessible out of town retail development together with a dramatic golden sandy beach stretching for three miles to Godrevy Lighthouse.

There's also plenty of places to eat out at when self catering in Praa Sands. With a selection a great pubs and restaurants in the area you won't be short of places to try out.

Beaches:

When staying in Praa Sands, you'll benefit from being a stone's throw from Praa Sands beach. Famed for its white sands stretching almost a mile, this family friendly beach is lifeguarded in summer, and a great place to spend a day in the sun.

Holiday cottages in Praa Sands sit between two other desirable beach locations too; Prussia Cove and Mullion Cove. Like Praa, they are unspoilt and perfect for walking, swimming and sunbathing. Praa Sands is also a very short distance from Porthleven, a picturesque fishing village which has excellent restaurants and is known as a world-class location for experienced surfers. Praa Sands was recently featured in our blog post Sandy beaches in West Cornwall.

Tom Bawcock's Eve, Mousehole

The tradition of Tom Bawcock comes from the feast or famine lifestyle of Cornwall.  The story goes that it was just before Christmas; there had been no fish for weeks, the boats couldn’t get out into the raging storm, the village was starving. One man, Tom Bawcock, dared to take his boat out of the harbour’s safety. He returned with enough fish to make fish pie for the whole village.

Today, a festival takes place each year to celebrate Tom Bawcock's bravery. During the festival, Star Gazey pies are eaten in memory of this famous event.

Clean spacious accommodation. Excellent welcome pack. Highly recommended.

June 2018

We loved the property and its surroundings, but it would have been nice to have met the owners by introduction when we first arrive. We did on the last day speak with Bob, but no sign of Angela. As they lived next door I think early introductions are essential, but this is only our way of thinking, maybe not theirs. It isn't a complaint just a suggestion. Everything else was five star. We have used Aspects for years and will continue to do so, thank you.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. Sorry that you did not have the opportunity to meet both of the owners. Even though these owners are next door, they like to try and give guests as much privacy as possible, and let you just get on with enjoying your stay. We are pleased that you found everything to be five star and hope to see you back here soon. Thanks again. Lucy, Customer Services
