Praa Sands (pronounced 'pray' sands), is the perfect place to enjoy a holiday. Great surf and surf hire facilities are on your doorstep along with the coast path and spectacular scenery. Read about surfing in Praa Sands on our blog: Ten of the best surf spots in Cornwall.
Praa Sands’ nine-hole golf course is only minutes away, or for those who prefer a bit of history, Pengersick Castle is a short walk away where there are plenty of stories about the wrecking and smuggling that took place in the bay until the 18th century. Right on the beach is Sandbar, a modern and bright restaurant/bar with magnificent views across the ocean. Read more about Sandbar on our blog.
Just seven miles away from Praa Sands is Penzance, a town with an eclectic mix of art studios, historic buildings, well stocked shops and award-winning restaurants. Visiting Marazion is a must when staying here, as the stunning St Michael's Mount found here is just a short drive away. This mystical tidal island provides the perfect backdrop for a walk along Marazion beach and offers an interesting day out. Helston, six miles away, is an ancient market town and gateway to the Lizard peninsula. Hayle, also six miles away, has a new, easily accessible out of town retail development together with a dramatic golden sandy beach stretching for three miles to Godrevy Lighthouse.
There's also plenty of places to eat out at when self catering in Praa Sands. With a selection a great pubs and restaurants in the area you won't be short of places to try out.
When staying in Praa Sands, you'll benefit from being a stone's throw from Praa Sands beach. Famed for its white sands stretching almost a mile, this family friendly beach is lifeguarded in summer, and a great place to spend a day in the sun.
Holiday cottages in Praa Sands sit between two other desirable beach locations too; Prussia Cove and Mullion Cove. Like Praa, they are unspoilt and perfect for walking, swimming and sunbathing. Praa Sands is also a very short distance from Porthleven, a picturesque fishing village which has excellent restaurants and is known as a world-class location for experienced surfers. Praa Sands was recently featured in our blog post Sandy beaches in West Cornwall.

The tradition of Tom Bawcock comes from the feast or famine lifestyle of Cornwall. The story goes that it was just before Christmas; there had been no fish for weeks, the boats couldn’t get out into the raging storm, the village was starving. One man, Tom Bawcock, dared to take his boat out of the harbour’s safety. He returned with enough fish to make fish pie for the whole village.
Today, a festival takes place each year to celebrate Tom Bawcock's bravery. During the festival, Star Gazey pies are eaten in memory of this famous event.

Fantastic sea view property with the added benefit of a hot tub and outside hot shower. Spacious accommodation with a huge modern kitchen and two living rooms with sea views. Praa sands beach is fantastic. The only slight downside is the somewhat limited outside space and the property immediately in front of this one, which does not obscure sea views, but has obviously been built in the same plot. It may or may not be a problem for others, but we found it slightly disappointing.

We always try to be honest and transparent with the property descriptions and photos and try to show the property in front of Lamorna House as clearly as we can. We are sorry to hear that this was not what was expected. The property includes a terrace with seating for 8 and sea views. To the rear of the property there is also an area that provides guests with a hot tub, outdoor shower, sofa, a couple of chairs and a shed that is home to a football table and darts board. So, whilst it is certainly not big enough for a run around, particularly if you have young children in the party, or dogs that like a big space to run around in between those lovely coastal walks; the owners have tried to make the most of the area and provide an entertaining space for guests. It may not suit every party, but with such great facilities on offer and a beautiful property, we really hope that you enjoyed it. Tanya, Customer Services

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Lamorna House. This part of the coast line is spectacular and we were able to enjoy lovely views from the house. The house was spacious, well furnished, comfortable and homely. We have booked our next stay already.

A beautiful house in a gorgeous peaceful location! A well equipped house with everything you will need, especially great amenities for having small children with us.
Beds were spotless and comfy, the rest of the house spotless too. We loved using the jacuzzi! We are already looking at when we can come back!
Mrs Croxford Oct 2020
Lovely house, spacious, and good views of the sea. Well equipped. Suitable for families to share. Rather a steep hill and steps down to the beach at Praa Sands, so need to be fit to do the ten minute walk.
Mrs Osborne Sep 2020
This really is a fabulous property with every comfort thought of and to a high standard. The outdoor spaces and facilities are equally excellent . However sadly the extensive building work on a property next door meant being woken at 7.45 am by drilling and banging even on a bank holiday and meant we couldn’t make full use of the outside seating and hot tub due to being totally overlooked by builders. We would definitely stay again but when the building work is complete!

We are so sorry that you have been disturbed by the works next door. After it was raised by the previous guests, we had been informed that the neighbouring works were nearly completed, and the noise would not be excessive and only intermittent. We would always want to be open and honest with guests and would want to inform anyone due in of any work that may impact on your enjoyment of the property, so we can only apologise; we genuinely had not realised that it would be something that would cause any issue for you. We had also been informed that there would not be any work taking place at all before 9am, so clearly we need to revisit this with the neighbours and their builders to get accurate information that will help in us pre-warning any incoming guests. We appreciate you letting us know and sincerely hope that we will be able to welcome you back another time when you can fully enjoy this property. Tanya, customer Services UPDATE: We are pleased to be able to confirm that the neighbouring work has now been completed
This was our second time staying at Lamorna so we knew what to expect. It’s a great house in a great location. The views are amazing. There were a few things that needs improvement. The neighbours are having renovation work.We couldn’t sit outside on the terrace as the constant drilling and banging spoilt it. Not a fault of aspect or Lamorna but something that guests should be made aware of. There was no satellite tv although it was advertised as having it. On rainy days it would have been nice to watch a film instead of re-runs of bargain hunt. The upstairs en-suite has a terrible smell. We were having to the leave the windows open all day and then spray the room on the evening. We were unable to use the en-suite as we had to keep the door shut due to the smell. The display it broken on the hot tub. We were unable to see what temperature we were adjusting it to.

Thanks for your feedback, though we were so sorry to hear about the works next door. This should have all been completed in the spring but with recent events, it seems it has been delayed. We are sorry that we hadn't known about this delay to the work next door and now being aware, we will try to get a clear idea of what works will be taking place so that we can pre-warn incoming guests if there are due to be noisy weeks. The owners have also been in contact to report that the smell that you mentioned had been noticed once a while back and just required the trap to be cleared of debris and drain unblocker used. They are sorry that they were not aware of this at the time of your stay as they would have quickly attended to resolve this. This has since been addressed and they have also ordered a new display for the hot tub, so thank you for bringing this to our attention. We also wanted to apologise for our oversight on the advertising of the Sky TV package. The owners had informed us a while back that they would not offer this anymore, so we removed this from the website description immediately, but unfortunately, it still mentioned Sky TV in the at a glance section, which was completely our error. This has now been removed and we apologise for any disappointment as a result of our oversight. Thanks again for your helpful comments. Tanya, Customer Services
Excellent holiday home and location, would definitely stay here again .
Mrs Ford Jul 2020
Lamorna House is perfectly positioned to access the less frequented Lizard area of West Cornwall, as well as the St Ives and Penzance areas. We loved the ease of travel to Kynance Cove, Coverack and Cadgwith. We also made a laid back day trip to St Ives by train from the park and ride at St Erth. There is the lido at Penzance plus art galleries and museum. Nearby Porthleven has lots of restaurants. And the local fish and chip takeaway was a hit. The house itself was spacious and comfortable and the kitchen and dining areas were well equipped so we enjoyed cooking in. Finally the hot tub was a great plus. I would definitely recommend this property for friends and family groups.
Mr Pillar Sep 2019
A delightful holiday house and it was nice for the family to enjoy an open plan kitchen diner which was very well equipped. All the bedrooms and sitting rooms were well furnished and very comfortable with a lovely view of the sea right outside the sitting room. A very small garden area with artificial grass was also a comfortable area for relaxing in. My guests staying in this house all said they would love to return at some future date.
Mrs Schiller Aug 2019
What a fantastic week we had. Lamorna house is absolutely beautiful. It caters for everything you could need and more. You can tell the owners have gone that extra mile. The views from the back of the house are amazing and we were lucky to have 4/5 days of sunshine. We will definitely be going back. Hopefully for more than a week this time.
Mr Williams Aug 2019
A very spacious, clean and homely house with great views and social space and wonderful master bedroom with it's own living space. Hot tub is lovely, just a shame it doesn't benefit from the views to the rear of the property, but you cant have everything I guess!! Great location too especially if you like the surf. Few minor things to improve upon to make this the really top quality of property we tend to rent, which we have mentioned to Aspects in our questionnaire response, but overall a property we would consider renting again if they were addressed.

Thank you for your lovely comments; it is great to hear just how much you enjoyed your time here, and thank you for your very helpful comments and suggestions, which have all been sent on to the owner for their consideration. You get to experience and view the properties in a different way than we do, so feedback like this is great for us and the owners to see so that we can better understand what improvements are considered most important for guests. Thanks again, and hope to see you back soon. Tanya, Customer Services

Excellent property and location it was very easy to get to all the the other places of interest and most of them were within a 30 minute drive. Being on top of the beach was also a brilliant bonus, what a view from the house. A very well laid out house and after being out it was a pleasure to come back and relax there.
Mrs Toovey Jun 2019
What a beautiful high quality-holiday home Lamorna House is. Extremely well equipped, spacious and comfortable with loads of beautiful natural light. Hot tub and outside shower was well used in the lovely weather we enjoyed in April. Beautiful view over Praa sands as we all sat on the large veranda/deck enjoying our food alfresco. A shortish walk to the lovely beach. Large kitchen/diner, 2 spacious sitting rooms, a well equipped utility room, 2 of the 4 bedrooms are en-suite plus a family bathroom. 2 dishwashers, washer, dryer, 2 freezers and 3 fridges. Off-street gated parking for 3-4 cars. I can't speak highly enough of this lovely house and we will definitely aim to stay here again.

Miss Holmes Jun 2018
We absolutely loved our stay at Lamorna House and would definitely like to stay there again. It was the most lovely house, so bright and airy with amazing views of the beach. The location was really good, it was within half an hour of everywhere in West Cornwall, perfect. It was also well equipped with everything you'd need. Having the second living room/snug was so great and meant we could chill out and watch tv away from the main bedrooms. There's a games shed to the side of the house with windbreakers and beach things in the other shed- amazing. There's even full Sky HD with movies for those rainy days. They'd thought about all the little things, we honestly can't fault it. Thank you to the owners.
Ms Lawson Jun 2018
A beautiful, light and spacious house; immaculately clean. Beds really comfortable. The ocean views from the rear are wonderful whether sunshine or rain. When windy you can watch the sea from the warmth of the sitting rooms or kitchen breakfast room. Well equipped utility room and outside washing line most useful. The hot tub is an added bonus. We were very sad to leave.
