March 2024

Well-equipped cottage in an excellent location. Very useful to have two parking spaces. Harbour Inn very welcoming and accessible. Shame some of our favourite shops/galleries were not open yet, and the lift at the Godolphin in Marazion was out of action so we could not access the restaurant (worth checking in advance on websites) but Porthleven is still one of the best places in Cornwall to stay.

Holidays in Porthleven

Whatever you love about Cornwall, we’re sure you'll find it while enjoying a holiday in Porthleven. Relax and enjoy the boats bobbing in the harbour, pull on the walking boots and join the coastal path to Rinsey and Praa Sands, take a short drive to nearby Marazion and the iconic St Michael's Mount, or hit the waves and surf until sunset.

This charming fishing town has a relaxing atmosphere; it's gorgeous in the Summer and dramatic during the Winter. The granite harbour and pier with its famous clock tower has become an iconic storm-watching spot during wild wintry weather and offers a tranquil setting on calmer days.

Take a short break out of season in Porthleven and avoid the hubbub on the roads and beaches. Soak up the sun on the harbour front and watch the fishing boats pass by. Catch the first glimpses of colour from the acres of Cornish daffodils in early spring with the sea as a back drop as you drive from coast to coast. With easy access to the coastal footpath, head east to discover Gunwalloe Fishing Cove, Polurnan Cliffs and Mullion Cove or head west and marvel at Praa Sands, Perranuthnoe and Marazion.

Take a short walk from Porthleven and reach the coarse sand of Porthleven beach, reaching two miles south as far as Loe Bar, a sand spit separating the sea and forming Loe Pool, the largest freshwater lake in Cornwall.

Porthleven harbour is an enjoyable place to relax, with its cafés, pubs and restaurants providing the perfect place for you to sit outside and watch the world float by!

Top tip

Like storm watching? Visit in winter and you may be lucky enough to experience huge waves crashing over the clock tower!

Well-equipped cottage in an excellent location. Very useful to have two parking spaces. Harbour Inn very welcoming and accessible. Genoa is a lovely bungalow, comfortable and well equipped. It is well situated and only takes about 10 minutes to walk into the centre of the village where there is a variety of places to eat and drink. It was our second stay and we will certainly return in the future.

We had a lovely stay in Genoa. It was bigger than expected, especially the shower which is huge. The parking is excellent. It's a lovely walk down to the harbour, and a gentle walk back up the hill. We had a fantastic meal at Amelie during our week, and the Chinese takeaway on the way back up the hill was so good we had it twice. Would highly recommend Genoa, and Aspect holidays.

A lovely cottage in gorgeous Porthleven! Would stay again!

The Genoa is a great bungalow with plenty of parking. Situated up the hill from the harbour about 10min walk. We've pre booked for our 4th time. Genoa is home from home. Everything that you need.

Just spent a fabulous week at Genoa, ideal location and added bonus of having an enclosed garden and parking spaces. Washer and dryer were a first for us in a holiday cottage which made a massive difference. Short walk to the bustling harbour where you will find lots of shops and places to eat/drink. Definitely consider staying here again. Highly recommend.

Genoa was an excellent choice. It's well situated for access to Porthleven. Walk down to the harbour in 7 minutes, passing the pasty shop on the way!!!. The property is well presented, clean and comfortable.Pet friendly and the parking is an absolute bonus.

We stayed at the Genoa and found it very central for everything we wanted to do, it was very clean and had everything we needed. We highly recommend it.

Genoa is the perfect holiday property in an ideal position for visiting the Lizard and south Cornwall and It is just a short walk from the port, therefore it is very quiet at night. Genoa has its own garden which the dog loved, it is clean, welcoming and has everything you need for a wonderful holiday. It even has its own double parking bays so no problem with parking after a day out!

Enjoyed our stay at genoa, clean and comfortable, and excellent parking. Close to amenities.

Excellent accommodation and information would definitely book again

A comfortable place to stay. Not the height of luxury but price reflects that. Easy walk into Porthleven.

The bungalow was very comfortable and well equipped. It was only a 10 minute walk to two very nice pubs and a lovely cafe although it took about 25 minutes to walk the beach. We had a great holiday and would definitely stay in Genoa again

Genoa was bright, clean and comfortable. The garden was a lovely size and ample parking provided. It was a great base to explore the west cost of Cornwall which is something we hadn’t done much before since we have tended to stay further east.

Lovely basic larger property than pics suggest, comfy beds.

Genoa was a fabulous property for our first visit to Porthleven. It’s in a great location to explore Porthleven itself, with only a 5 min walk to the harbour. The property is spacious and well equipped, with small touches such as hand wash, washing up liquid, laundry gel, sponges, cloths, tea towels and a pint of milk on arrival! Absolutely brilliant service. Excellent value for a property with two bedrooms and two parking spaces. We were very impressed!

Enjoyed our stay , lovely little bungalow all you needed there. Great location. Would stay again .

Very enjoyable relaxed short stay. Excellent location with the benefit of parking, this is a big plus as parking down at the harbour can be tricky at times. Easy walk down to the harbour from the property.

Fantastic property. Ideally situated in a quiet cul de sac with easy 10 minute walk to the harbour. Nice and clean with everything you need and the added benefit of irking right outside your front door. We are planning on a return visit asap.

Genoa is a little gem - a fully furnished and comfortable bungalow just 5 mins walk from Porthleven harbour, pubs, restaurants, shops, etc. Two free parking spaces are just outside the front door, which is extremely useful as parking anywhere in Cornwall can be expensive. Spent two holidays here and likely to return in the future.

We loved our stay at Genoa and would absolutely consider returning if we weren’t buying a motorhome. It’s a perfect little property for a holiday base with an easy layout for my elderly mother which helped me a lot. She loved it. Short walk back up the hill which was fine for us, not so my mother but we knew it’s location before we went. Parking is a bonus in Porthleven. Very few minor points - a tad dusty in a few places but who really cares- we didn’t want to go home .

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are sorry that there were a few dusty areas. That isn't what we would expect, and we will make sure that this is followed up with the housekeeper for that property. We are glad that you had a great time though and enjoy exploring in your motorhome :-) Tanya, Customer Services

For anyone who comes here there is everything you need. Enclosed garden. Washer. Dryer. Fab shower. Full oven, hob and fridge freezer. It’s a real bungalow no where near the tiny holiday let’s we have used previously. Really every thing you need. Reading some of the previous feedback, we can’t agree with the minor comments like no dishwasher. Listing does not advertise one. We were there for a long stay in November and when we did use heaters we ended up being too hot and had to open the french doors,………. in November! ??

A comfortable and convenient bungalow. Will very likely book again. Aspects customer service was excellent

Once again we have had a lovely holiday at Genoa. It’s closeness to the harbour and to the coast path is fantastic. You need to be aware of the hill up from the harbour to get to the property if you have mobility issues but other than that it is a fantastic little property. Outside enclosed space for a bbq or to let the dog out too. We would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a very reasonable priced few days away in beautiful Cornwall.

Absolutely love this holiday bungalow in Porthleven. There's lots of places to explore near-by. It's only 20 min drive to Penzance. Lots of nice places to eat and take aways that also deliver from near-by Helston.

Amazing little harbour, very peaceful and off street parking which is a blessing. 10 minute walk from the cottage to the harbour front and a great base to go off and see cornwal. Would highly recommend

Great little bungalow close to Porthleven, (about 5 mins walk) We've stayed in Porthleven several times & this property is great value for the money compared with others.

We had a lovely holiday at Genoa and would certainly be happy to stay there again. It was in a nice peaceful location, but within a short walking distance of Portleven harbour and the resort facilities, and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The Aspects Holidays staff were also really friendly and helpful in answering any questions we had prior to our holiday.

Ideal location for exploring the Lizard area. Well appointed bungalow with two parking spaces, and only 5 minutes walk from the harbour, restaurants and shops.

Excellent little property in Porthleven with parking!

A warm and comfortable base to explore West Cornwall. Lovely to be just a few minutes walk from the bustle of the harbour yet Genoa is in such a peaceful spot. For the more energetic, it's a beautiful walk to Loe Pool through Porthleven and via a very well managed footpath along the cliffs. We would happily return.

Lovely stay at Genoa (April 2021). Property location was very good and within 5 min walk to Porthleven centre. Return walk up a slight hill. Quiet location but within easy distance of shops and the harbour. Beach located at the end of the harbour - about 10 minute walk from the house. Neighbours were friendly and helpful too. The house itself was excellent - very clean and well equipped. We would definitely recommend this property and stay here again in the future.

Genoa was a warm (very warm!!) comfortable 'cottage' in a brilliant, very quiet, location for Porthleven Harbour. The secure outside space was brilliant for our two dogs. The washing machine and tumble drier were really useful during the varied October weather. The addition of a dishwasher would be the icing on the cake, particularly during these COVID times when some are more thorough with washing up than others. Great for exploring the Lizard peninsular and all the beautiful peaceful coves around that coast, and really not too far to venture over to St Ives and the other equally beautiful coast(s).

Genoa is a lovely modern warm bungalow with everything you could need. Private parking and pleasant sitting out area. There is a slight hill to walk up from Harbour. We enjoyed a lovely week exploring the area and it was lovely to come ‘home’ to Genoa for a relaxing evening. Looking forwards to next time.

Genoa is a brilliant little bungalow perfectly placed just out from Porthleven harbour. We found it very warm and cozy and didn’t need any heating on. In fact we were opening windows to cool down! It had everything we needed and we will certainly consider using it again as Porthleven is our favourite place in south Cornwall. Aspect Holidays were very good, keeping us informed of important details right from the time we booked to the day we left. Brilliant holiday..

Comfortable accommodation with parking in Porthleven is a good find and only a short walk to see the views!

Lovely spacious bungalow , beautifully decorated with all every day essential items that you would need in a perfect location for the four of us and a dog . Nice and quiet and out of the way of hustle and bustle but only a 5 minute lovely little walk down to the harbour, which was great for walking the dog of an evening. Plenty of restaurants , pubs and shops . Porthleven is stunning . Very picturesque. Great location . Only half hour drive to ST Ives and Falmouth or go a little further ( 45 minutes ) to Perranporth beach . We book with aspects every year and would certainly stay here again .

Spacious accommodation in lovely location. Just a short walk down the hill to Porthleven which has a good selection of pubs, takeaways, shops etc. Had a lovely break here, thank you

Clean and comfortable bungalow. No immediate views but only a short walk to see them and as I holiday a lot in this area Genoa proved a good base with a great price!

A comfortable well equipped apartment that had a generous welcome pack of Cornish tea and coffee. Close to the harbour (5-10 minutes) with pubs, restaurants and takeaways. Ideal location to explore the Lizard and west Cornwall.

Absolutely delightful location in a charming Cornish fishing village. The daily walks with dog and having to go past The Harbour Inn ( or not!) all made it a very enjoyable week in a bungalow that had everything you could want and more. From the cream tea on arrival to the last day there was nothing else needed.

A fabulous home away from home within an excellent location and fantastic parking facilities and just a short 5 minute walk to the harbour. As a family plus dog we would highly recommended this property for exploring the local area and this part of the cornish coast as it is very dog friendly. The addition of a cream tea on arrival was a very welcome surprise & went down well with our teenage girls.

On the whole a lovely property and v close to harbour (5 min walk) Good facilities Very comfy beds and lovely bed linen Great walk in shower

Very nice place

Genoa is a fantastic property, well stocked spacious kitchen and comfortable beds. The lounge was well suited to a family of 3 and 2 pets. wifi kept the boy happy and a good provision of freeview TV all included. Would recommend to anyone.

Well decorated and comfortable accommodation perfect location 15 mins strole to harbour good selection of pubs and restaurant.

Had another fabulous stay at Genoa. Really dog friendly with an enclosed courtyard garden and just a few minutes walk from porthleven harbour. We will be booking again for next year

A really lovely property very homely - the cream tea, coffee, tea and milk on arrival a real bonus! Within a short distance to the town/village and parking spaces make it a perfect spot in beautiful Porthleven.

Enjoyed a great week. Parking definitely a bonus as in town parking is in short supply. Spotless, comfortable and good quality linen and towels. Bit of a climb up from the town but manageable even for two pensioners, the 9 year old grandson couldn't see the problem. Would stay again.

Great place. Second time we've stayed in Porthleven, as a family with two young children this was a really good choice; bungalow so no stairs, parking in front of the house, and nicely decorated. Beds were easy to move around to make it easier for kids sleeping (including space for a cot). The bungalow, although naturally slightly lacking in charm, was really nicely decorated and was comfy, cosy, and well equipped. A really nice touch with the milk and scones.

The location is brilliant; 5 minutes from the town centre and a very easy walk. Would stay again.

A comfortable, well-equipped property in a great seaside town

Very Good Bungalow very well equipped every thing you want is there and parking right out side, There is a small supermarket just down by the harbour plenty places to eat out down and around the Harbour. We thought the Harbour was lovely but the Area it's self did not suit us as we have Disabilities and I don't think Cornwall is very Disable Friendly it's a great county if you are fit but for the Disabled No.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your stay at Genoa and that it provided everything that you needed. Unfortunately, as in many other towns/counties, there are areas that are still not easily accessible for those with disabilities; the suitability of Porthleven will of depend on your level of mobility. As one person's situation and level of mobility will be very different to another, we would always recommend contacting us before booking, and we are very happy to chat to anyone looking to visit Cornwall, to advise on the most suitable properties to book, and any information that the team may have on suitability of areas/places on interest. We have a bit of information here, which also has some useful links for when it comes to planning your holiday here in Cornwall. Once again, thank you for your helpful comments and we are really happy to read that despite the area not suiting you, that you enjoyed Genoa. Tanya, Customer Services

We had a great week in Porthleven. The bungalow is comfortable and location is good. Scones and cream were a nice touch.

A fantastic property in a good location. Everything in the property you need for a fantastic stay. Easy parking for 2 cars. Will return

Genoa is set only 5 minutes walk from the tranquil harbour of porthleven. Accessibility is great for anyone and a bonus of 2 parking spaces which can be hard to find nearer the town. The property it’s self is modern, clean and very accommodating for your four legged friend with a secure enclosed garden where they can wander in and out at there own free will.

Genoa is an excellently equipped and located property. We thoroughly enjoyed our week there. The outdoor area is a great place to relax in the evening.

We really enjoyed our stay at Genoa in Porthleven. A short walk away from the harbour - it was very clean, very well decorated and really comfortable plus great parking. We hope to return.

Wow what a place .You could not ask for a more central location to porthleven 6mins walk and your in the heart of everything.my wife is in a wheel chair and found the bungalow great and very accessible The only bad point is was your there you don't want to leave...cant Waite to return

Excellent smart comfortable cottage with everything you need for a great holiday in Porthleven. Private parking and only a 10 minute stroll into the harbour.

A lovely bungalow with everything you need, in a prime location for events in the harbour area not to close or to far, easy parking

Very friendly staff who kept in touch to offer support before, during and after the holiday. Our second stay with your company and not the last.

Lovely property a stones throw from the harbour. Decorated to a high spec with everything you need for a self catering holiday.
