Holidays in Porthleven

Whatever you love about Cornwall, we’re sure you'll find it while enjoying a holiday in Porthleven. Relax and enjoy the boats bobbing in the harbour, pull on the walking boots and join the coastal path to Rinsey and Praa Sands, take a short drive to nearby Marazion and the iconic St Michael's Mount, or hit the waves and surf until sunset.

This charming fishing town has a relaxing atmosphere; it's gorgeous in the Summer and dramatic during the Winter. The granite harbour and pier with its famous clock tower has become an iconic storm-watching spot during wild wintry weather and offers a tranquil setting on calmer days.

Take a short break out of season in Porthleven and avoid the hubbub on the roads and beaches. Soak up the sun on the harbour front and watch the fishing boats pass by. Catch the first glimpses of colour from the acres of Cornish daffodils in early spring with the sea as a back drop as you drive from coast to coast. With easy access to the coastal footpath, head east to discover Gunwalloe Fishing Cove, Polurnan Cliffs and Mullion Cove or head west and marvel at Praa Sands, Perranuthnoe and Marazion.

Take a short walk from Porthleven and reach the coarse sand of Porthleven beach, reaching two miles south as far as Loe Bar, a sand spit separating the sea and forming Loe Pool, the largest freshwater lake in Cornwall.

Porthleven harbour is an enjoyable place to relax, with its cafés, pubs and restaurants providing the perfect place for you to sit outside and watch the world float by!

Top tip

Like storm watching? Visit in winter and you may be lucky enough to experience huge waves crashing over the clock tower!

Amazing location and very spacious cottage. Gorgeous views of the harbour and extremely well equipped with everything you could need. Very comfortable and warm.

Perfect location. Excellent local amenities. High spec accommodation. Handy parking space. Would highly recommend

Fabulous apartment, immaculately presented and of high quality throughout. Comfortable with a well equipped kitchen, Tv and radio in every room, and a great location with direct views of the harbour. On site parking made everything easier. Highly recommended.

Brilliant location and a beautifully furnished and kitted out property in an excellent location with beautiful views. Being right on the harbour side was key to us since one member of our group had slight mobility issues. We had a really lovely holiday!

1, Mackerel Cottages is a superb holiday cottage in a fantastic location. It was very well equipped and the owners clearly want guests to feel comfortable and welcome - we found a bottle of milk in the fridge, tea tray laid out and biscuits and chocolate! Having a parking space immediately in front of the cottage was a great bonus and the upside-down living made the most of the views.

Great location

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage during our week in Porthleven. All the rooms were great - clean, tidy and well thought out. The upstairs has a real "wow" factor with amazing views over the harbour. The huge sofa was a great place to relax and watch the activity in the harbour after a long day sightseeing.

There are lots of great restaurants in the village and we would recommend The Square and Kota Kai especially.

this cottage is perfectly placed on the harbour, all town amenities in range. decor is lovely, a light and airy open plan space upstairs. we had a lovely stay, thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at 1 Mackerel Cottage. Excellent location in the harbour close to several restaurants. It was great to be able to park the car by the cottage which was well furnished and attractive. We had a minor issue with a lock which was solved very quickly by Aspects Holidays. Both the cottage and the company are thoroughly recommended. Porthleven is a little gem with fantastic walks nearby.

The property is spectacular in an amazing position

The cottage was wonderful, felt like a boutique hotel thanks to the beautiful bed linens and soft furnishings, the bathroom decor and towels as well as the nautical themed art around the property. We loved the well equipped kitchen and the cream tea and treats on arrival. The perfect space with a view and the joy of a parking space right on the harbour in this beautiful village, with plenty of shops and places to eat within easy walking distance. We will be back soon!

The house is in a perfect location and porthleven is such a nice place to relax and easy access to Cornwall

1 Mackerel Cottage is a lovely place to stay. The fixtures and fittings are all of a very high standard. The settee is comply for a relaxing evening in and the bed for a good nights sleep. It is situated close to restaurants and if you just want to go for short walks it is ideal. Further afield are many interesting places to visit. Would recommend.

Superb cottage in a fantastic location, would highly recommend this to anyone.

Superb accommodation, beautifully furnished with a spot on location

Excellent quality property. Beautifully and practically furnished. Being an 'upside down' house the views of the inner harbour and the location for exploring Porthleven are excellent too. Would definitely book again. The welcoming pack was very much appreciated after a long journey.

A very well equipped cottage right on the edge of the harbour. Great views of the boats and close to restaurants. Walking distance to beach. Thoroughly recommend.

An amazing stay! Fantastic facilities and brilliant location. A nice modern 'cottage' which had an incredible open plan first floor kitchen/living area, the view is insane! The weather was massively on our side which obviously helps, but allowed us to utilise all of the harbour restaurants/pubs, shops and walks. I think it's likely we will be rebooking! Thank you

1 Mackerel Cottages is a beautiful property in a great location alongside the pretty harbour in Porthleven. Just a short stroll to several excellent restaurants. Great walks locally along coastal footpaths and the Penrose Estate. Many of the famous Cornish gardens are an easy drive from this property. I look forward to my next visit.
