Throw open the sitting room door and catch the morning sunrise over the ocean. From the comfort of the terrace, watch the sunlight glisten on the rolling waves, on what promises to be another sun-drenched day ahead. With a cup of hot, Cornish coffee and warm, morning pastries, start your day listening to the sound of the surf and feel the tang of salt in the air. Lido at the Carlton is perfectly located to spend hours enjoying the incredible, panoramic sea views across to St Michael's Mount, The Lizard and Newlyn. On a winter's day, there is no better place to storm watch the crashing waves and lightning bolts as they ignite the deep blue sea, from the warmth and comfort of this spacious apartment. Set over two floors, Lido at the Carlton benefits from a reverse level, open plan living space, which allows the sunlight to flood through the upper ground floor. After a busy day exploring and as the afternoon light slips away, gather together for ice-cold sundowners on the terrace and watch the most spectacular sunset. As the night draws in, head down to the lower ground floor, to one of the two king size beds for a restful night's slumber within the cool, crisp, white linens. Both with en suite shower rooms and invigorating rainfall showers, the front bedroom has the addition of a snug; a place to cosy up into the beanbag and get lost in a good book.
Accepting pets and located on the promenade between Penzance and Newlyn, Lido at the Carlton is ideally located for a leisurely stroll with the furry member of the family, alongside the sea into Penzance and further on into Marazion. The neighbouring fishing port of Newlyn is also a pleasant, short walk away and you can follow this path to lead to the picture postcard village of Mousehole. Visit the galleries and boutique style shops in Chapel Street in Penzance, stopping off at the Art Deco lido and have a dip in the geothermally heated Jubilee Pool on the prom on the way home. Try surfing at Sennen Cove or Praa Sands; with so many golden sand beaches to visit and magical hidden coves or gardens to explore, there is something for everyone. The several fishmongers in Newlyn sell the freshest fish straight from the boat and with two supermarkets a few steps away from the apartment, home dining is made easy. Should you wish to dine out though, you will be spoilt for choice, try Blacks of Chapel Street in Penzance or the Tolcarne Inn or Mackerel Sky in Newlyn, for the most delicious fish tapas. If a simple fish and chip supper sitting on the prom with the most spectacular view is what you crave, Fraser's fish and chip shop is also close by. A stay at Lido at the Carlton is the perfect choice to create the most precious memories for many years to come.

On a sunny day, St. Michael’s Mount, Mount's Bay and Penzance seafront might be mistaken for the Mediterranean making holidays in Penzance a jet-set-style holiday you can enjoy without climbing on a plane.
Sitting in the corner of a sheltered and attractive bay, the UK’s most westerly town has been a popular resort since the Napoleonic wars when the wealthier English people were cut off from the continent and searched closer to home for fresh air and the newly discovered benefits of sea-bathing. Things to do in Penzance
Jubilee Pool
This beautiful art-deco open-air bathing pool is the UK’s largest seawater lido. There is also an excellent café and a delightfully warm geothermal pool. The pool opens from the end of May until September. Even in winter, some hardy year-round swimmers use battery rocks (just north of Jubilee Pool) for their daily dip!
Parks and gardens
Morrab Garden is a sub-tropical garden in the heart of Penzance with Victorian fountains and a bandstand, which still plays host to concerts in the summer. The Morrab Library sits in the gardens and is an absolute joy with its wonderful photographic archives and collections. Full of trees and squirrels, Penlee Park has a specific dog-free and child-friendly play area making it ideal for families.
Art galleries
Penlee House Art Gallery & Museum (with an excellent café) sits opposite the Penlee open-air theatre and is home to a large collection of Newlyn School paintings as well as more contemporary works. Along the various streets and alleys lie many other superb galleries featuring a mix of local and national artists. Further afield, you have the renowned Newlyn Exchange and the wondrous Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, which is home to many incredible sculptures throughout its grounds. Or, if you want to create your own art, why not embark on one of Penwith’s popular painting holidays to really make the most of Cornish scenery.
Shopping in Penzance
Not all town centres have the beautiful granite terrace and arcade steps, the iron railings; or retain the architecture of previous generations above the modern shop frontages that Penzance enjoys. There are many Georgian and early Victorian facades just above eye-level in Penzance giving a really unique backdrop to your shopping. By way of shops, you’ll find everything from boutiques to big names as well as delis and food shops that are jam-packed with tempting, locally sourced treats.
Walks
Penzance, with its recently resurfaced prom and surrounding coastline, is perfectly placed to enjoy some stunning Cornish walks. The further to the west you go, the more rugged and captivating the coastline – although be warned, in Penwith, the more beautiful the view, the steeper the trek to reach it! Our favourite stretch has to be between Mousehole all the way along to the Minack Theatre, which provides days upon days of incredible coastal walks. During your treks, make sure to keep an eye out for some of Cornwall’s ancient sites, which can be found scattered around the wild landscape.
Eating out
Penzance self-catering holidays are perfect; Chapel Street leads up from the harbour to the town centre where you will find a range of restaurants and pubs as well as independent shops and houses of historic interest and importance. Dog-friendly Penzance
With the sights and smells of the nearby beaches and plenty of dog-friendly pubs (Admiral Benbow is particularly popular with dogs and people alike), Penzance is a wonderful place for a dog-friendly holiday in Cornwall. There are also some great dog-friendly beaches nearby so you can enjoy a proper romp in the sand with your furry best friend.
Events in Penzance
Golowan Festival – Happening every year towards the end of June, Penzance’s Golowan Festival (also known as Mazey Day) is a bright and cheerful celebration of midsummer and promises an array of colour, music and festivities. Watch the parade of intricate puppets that dance through the streets, cheer on the Morris dancers and browse your way through the collection of stalls that sell everything from jewellery to mouth-watering foods.
Penzance Literary Festival - One for all the bookworms out there, the Penzance Literary Festival in July celebrates words in all forms from written to spoken to sung! Come along and catch the many performances, take part in literary discussions and even try your hand at creating your own stuff with the many workshops that take place.
Christmas in Penzance – With Christmas lights turning the whole stretch of coast between St Michael’s Mount and Mousehole into a glittering display, a jovial walk (or drive) is always a great way to get in the festive spirit. In town, you’ll find shop windows awash with intricate displays that tie in with a chosen theme as businesses from all over the town take part in an annual Christmas competition to dazzle shoppers. Santa never misses Penzance when doing the rounds, as you can always find him sitting happily in his grotto during the light switch on. Fairs, processions, and costumed antics take place throughout December, so you’re always in for a spectacle or two when you visit at Christmas.
Getting around
Literally at the end of the line, Penzance is well-placed for holiday makers that prefer the train to a car. For those wanting to tour Mount’s Bay on foot (or on two wheels), there is a superb path that runs right the way along from Marazion to Mousehole, making excellent use of the promenade in Penzance. You can often find food vans along the prom, allowing for a quick refuel with a view during your jaunt. For those with a car, there are numerous car parks around the town as well as in the surrounding villages so you can enjoy Penwith by foot, car, bike or even boat!

The apartment is comfortable and well positioned on the sea front although there is a lot of traffic noise if you have the windows open. Parking is easy outside the accommodation and it is about 10 minutes easy stroll to Newlyn I am not a lover of upside down accommodation as the bedrooms are a bit dark but it doesn’t detract overall . Very clean, well equipped and lovely views across the bay

The Lido at The Carlton is a great place to stay in Penzance. The location is so convenient .Shops and restaurants a very short step away. The Prom is opposite and so access to beaches and a lovely level walk to the town. The flat is light and bright and very well equipped. Beds are comfy and on suite with great showers. We appreciated the treats of wine and chocolate left for us and basics left like milk and teabags etc. Aspects manage the property well and communicate well too. We had a brilliant holiday, with four of us staying and two small dogs, and would definitely recommend.

The Lido is a great place to base your Cornish holiday, with the sea across the road and lots to visit in the local area. Penzance is up and coming with some wonderful places to eat & drink.

The Lido is a perfect location for exploring the area in and around Penzance.
Extremely comfortable and well equipped with a lovely balcony overlooking the promenade.
The beds were very comfortable and plenty of wardrobe and storage space.
Frasers fish and chip shop is just a couple of minutes away and absolutely delicious.
Recommend the Bath Inn pub also just a couple of minutes walk away. Very welcoming truly local pub with a great choice of seating areas including a lovely pub garden, no food but that was not a problem for us.
We didn't try The Beach Club next door but the menu looked really good with lots of choice
Lidl and the Co-op provide everything you need including a petrol station and only a minutes walk from the apartment.

Right on the seafront, an easy walk to shops/pubs in Penzance, and ten minutes along the front to Newlyn, which also has a lot to offer. The excellent food trucks on the promenade are especially handy. It's a very comfortable apartment and in May we found it easy enough to park on the road or in the car park opposite, which is free overnight. Our only bugbears were the lack of instructions for the heating, and lights in the bedroom area that operate on sensors.

We had a comfortable and relaxing time at this property. It was nicely decorated, clean, and uncluttered with a lovely sea view. The flat is well positioned near the shops, train and bus stations making it easy access for those who travel without a car. The gifts left at the property for our arrival were a lovely touch and greatly appreciated. We really enjoyed exploring Penzance and the nearby towns and beaches! We will definitely come back again! The Aspects holiday team and Lido at the Carlton catered to our every need.
After a 4 hour car journey we were greeted by a pleasantly bright, furnished and homely holiday apartment. It has all the home comforts.
We liked that there was milk in the fridge and tea bags for our arrival. But most of all- there was a small box of tasty mince pies and clotted cream to go with our cup of tea.
We will definitely be looking to book another stay at the Lido for our summer holiday.

Lovely flat, beautifully furnished and designed for a very comfortable stay. The property is well positioned in Penzance with a view of the sea from the balcony and the raised platform in the lounge. Parking outside the flat in the road was easy in November but there is a car park across the road. Easily walk into Penzance town centre but also easy walk to Newlyn and Mousehole and if you don’t like to walk the buses are very regular. The station is about a mile away. I would recommend the property.

The flat is fabulous and a fabulous home away from home. We had a Wi-Fi glitch for some days and Aspects were supportive and eventually the problem was sorted. Close to all amenities, beaches, restaurants. We were sad to leave and would love to come back again!

A lovely stay, great views out the window in the living room and a fantastic location for walking in to Penzance for dinner/shopping etc. No designated parking space but 9 times out of 10 we were able to park on the road directly outside the flat and there was always space outside the amusements which is a 1 minute walk away. Overall, a great holiday in a modern, comfortable apartment

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Lido apartment. The location was great and Penzance in general seemed to be a great base for a stay in Cornwall. Having previously stayed in the Morwenstow apartments in St Ives I think I would choose Penzance again as it is just that bit quieter! Everything is close to hand or a short drive to beaches etc. The apartment was incredibly comfortable for 2 of us and our 18 month old, although there were a couple of things I have suggested to aspects for travellers with very young children we managed okay. It was literally a 10 second walk to lidl for supplies, right on the promenade for evening strolls and jubilee pool 10 mins walk away. Fabulous. We would definitely stay again.

Thinking of staying in Cornwall, you won’t go wrong with the Carlton apartments. Lovingly designed by an architect who’s poured his heart and soul into the venture. This comes through in the design and you won’t be disappointed.
Apartments are top notch, well appointed throughout with great amenities including a fab kitchen and shower rooms.
Location is fantastic and make sure you take a look at the in apartment guide. Here you are 15 minutes away from some of the best beaches in the UK.

The apartment is brilliantly placed for shopping and coffee in Penzance town, sightseeing in Newlyn, the beach, Lidls, Morrab Gardens, Penlee Gardens and Penlee art gallery/museum and coffee shop. Penzance train station is about a fifteen minute walk away along the sea front past the Lido, but you can get a local taxi really easily to the station and from there you can get to St Ives and Truro for extra days out. There is also a regular bus from Penzance high street which goes to Mousehole, or you can walk it there via Newlyn (fabulous views) and catch the bus back if your legs get tired! The views directly across the road of the everchanging sea were fabulous from the apartment windows and there was everything we needed in there to cook ourselves evening meals and breakfast. We thought the furniture in the rooms were lovely and the beds very comfy, warm and extremely clean with an excellent shower for each bedroom. .
