No hesitation in recommending this house and we have stayed here several times before. It is traditionally and comfortably furnished, always beautifully clean and welcoming and has just about everything for self catering. The sea views from every window are wonderful. A real home from home. The parking for a small car is fine and nearby and the walk to the harbour and facilities is just a few minutes. We always have a lovely break here. No doubt we will return.

Holidays in Mousehole

Mousehole is an idyllic village and fishing port with quaint cobbled streets full of bistros and art-galleries. Sit on the harbour and admire views of St Michael’s Mount or take a short drive to nearby Marazion to walk along the golden sands.

Mousehole is a great community with a fantastic atmosphere, and self catering in Mousehole is effortless. Enjoy harbour views and artisan foods at Mousehole Deli & kitchen, afternoon tea at the Tremayne Tea Room or sit down for an evening meal at 2 Fore Street, a French bistro-style restaurant on Mousehole harbour front. Finish off your evening with a pint of local ale at the Ship Inn, one of the famous St Austell Brewery establishments. For more info, read our blog post on Eating out in Mousehole.

Visit at Christmas and experience the magical Mousehole Lights display!

Things to do in Mousehole

Mousehole is best when entered on foot, or bus, or bike. Cars are not the way to see Mousehole and best left outside. If you have to bring a car, there’s a big car park on the Penzance side of the village, close to The Old Coastguard Hotel.

Christmas lights

Mousehole has celebrated Christmas with beautiful lights for 40 years! The village is a winter wonderland in the dark nights and grey seas of winter. Many villages have light shows today but Mousehole is special. Holiday cottages overlooking the harbour always enjoy an extra special Cornish Christmas. Read more on our blog about Mousehole lights.

Walks around Mousehole

For those who are not so content with staying in their holiday homes, the walks around Mousehole are a joy all year round.  There are some fabulous circular walks but we think there's something particularly satisfying about catching a bus from Mousehole and walking back in (especially if your walk exits the village in a north of westerly direction; you'll soon discover the town is nestled at the bottom of a very steep hill!)  Read our blog on Mousehole Walks.

Coasteering in Mousehole

If you're seeking adrenaline and adventure, check out Coasteering Adventures.

Mousehole is one of Cornwall’s top Coasteering destinations. Nestled in the shelter of Mounts Bay, Mousehole offers multiple coasteering routes for all ages and abilities. Coasteering Adventures are thrilled to be the exclusive provider of coasteering from this location. Book an adventure and you will experience cliff jumping, sea swimming, climbing, bouldering, exploring caves and floating through gullies. With each session tailored to the group, you can choose the level that you are comfortable with.

Dating back to the 13th century Mousehole has a rich history tying it to the sea. 1595 saw all but 1 house (which still stands today) burned to the ground by the Spanish armada. 100 Years later Mousehole became a haven for the ‘Barbary Pirates’ with a number of caves on the route being where their treasure was hidden. During the 1800’s Mousehole settled into a thriving fishing village and you’ll regularly see the small fishing boats from Mousehole pass our groups whilst out on route.

A brief history of Mousehole

Today Mousehole is beautiful and welcoming holiday destination This popular holiday destination has seen more than its fair share of hardtimes tragedy over the years.

The Quay was built in 1392, holding the harbour like a pair of protective arms. Fishing was always important to Mousehole. These days there are fewer boats fishing from the village but there is an active fishing fleet operating out of nearby Newlyn, a town worth a visit on its own account. Tom Bawcock's Eve, Mousehole

Every year, the people of Mousehole celebrate the bravery of Tom Bawcock. Years ago, when the boats couldn't get out in the storms, the villages had no fish to eat. Tom dared to take his boat out and returned with enough fish to make a Star Gazey fish pie for the whole village.

Beautiful clean, well equipped cottage with spectacular sea views. Very welcoming. This is our second stay here and we will be back next year. Thankyou for the little extras. Much appreciated.

Howldreval is a lovely cottage in a wonderful location with stunning views. It has everything you could possibly need, including a parking space, an absolute bonus in Mousehole. Sitting in the garden watching the seals and fishing boats come and go made for a very relaxing holiday and the sunrises and sunsets are absolutely stunning We didn’t want to leave and will definitely be back. Thankyou.

Beautiful cottage, incredible view, comfy beds, kitchen well stocked with appliances, utensils and basic cooking items.

A great family home (although as a couple it wasn’t too big!) and in a wonderful position. We parked up and only used the car twice in the whole week. Well equipped and clean, everything you could need is there for you, down even to the dishwasher tabs. Lovely to go to sleep to the sound of the sea! We will no doubt, return yet again.

Beautiful cosy and clean cottage with everything that you could need for a great family holiday. Views across to St Clements rock are amazing and there are plenty of seals to watch.

Beautiful views, fantastic cottage.

Beautiful clean, well equipped cottage in a most enviable position. We didn't want to leave and we will definitely be returning. Thankyou.

This property has the added bonus of a parking slot behind property which in Mousehole is rare.the views are stunning and surrounding make for a lovely relaxing holiday

A very beautiful, welcoming house with everything we needed for our week there. Looking over the garden wall at low tide and seeing the rock pools where I played as a child, living in Mousehole in the 40s and 50s, was magical and nostalgic. Covid restrictions meant we couldn't have our family staying with us, but could entertain them in the garden and the weather was marvellous except for one day. Having a car parking space in Mousehole is an enormous bonus.

Excellent cottage in a perfect position in lovely Mousehole,,,,,

What a gem of a house, perfect location, house is well stocked and clean. Couldn't ask for a better cottage to stay in.

A perfect house in an amazing position.

All very comfortable with unsurpassable virws

Ideally situated on the sea wall within 2 minutes walk of the harbour. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Nice garden overlooking the sea. Brilliant sun rises and sunsets. Parking space a bonus. Been using Aspects for many years and always found them easy to deal with.

A perfect cottage in everyway everything you could ever wish for and more, for the perfect holiday stay --- Cottage, location, and seaviews all excellent our first visit to Howldreval definitely not our last

An excellent property meeting expectations and in a glorious position with sea view from all the rooms. Very clean and orderly and with everything you could want for your holiday...a home from home. A short, few mins walk to the centre of the village. We parked in the parking space and it was fine and very close to the cottage. Would definitely go back.

Stunning!

Wonderful cottage, beautiful, atmosphere, homely, unbelievable location and view is breathtaking.

Whole experience was magical and one of the best ever holiday experiences.

Location, outlook from inside and from garden, view of sea from bedrooms, warm cosy feel to the cottage, well equipped.

An ideal cottage for a quiet getaway.

Everything excellent

You would find it hard to find a better view in Cornwall with almost a private access to the beach! - a parking space too makes it perfect

My favourite place and location

A gem of a cottage - stayed there every year since 2015.

The fact we have rebooked to stay 5 times says it all !!!

The cottage was exactly right - from the location to the very high standard of comfort and convenience. Perfect. Even a small parking space from which the car never moved during our stay.

Superb break. Accommodation excellent and everything provided. Very clean and comfortable. In all a very good choice.

Howldteval is the perfect seaside cottage... you can hear and see the sea from every room...it’s warm and welcoming in every way pure soul food...a haven, a home away from home...

A well equiped spacious cottage in a great location.

Booked again for next year

Anyone booking Howldreval would not be disappointed with the cottage. Good Value for money.

Howldreval' is probably the best holiday cottage we've ever stayed in, and that is saying something, as we've stayed in very many all over the country over 40 odd years! There is almost always something that makes a holiday cottage less than perfect, but in this case, we would be struggling to find anything negative to say. It would have been nice to have had some information about the history of 'Howldreval' - but I guess not everyone is interested. Parking (i.e. if your car is too big to park in Howldreval space) could be a pain in Mousehole during busy holiday times, and is an additional cost to the holiday. It's ok currently during the Winter on the small Quay, as it was free, but I believe that from 1st April there will be a Pay & Display system starting, with strict penalties for non-payment etc. Loading/unloading car is a bit of a nuisance, as no place to do this right next to cottage - but well worth the extra effort in order to stay there. I could go on with lots of positive comments about 'Howldreval' but it would take too long! Basically I just loved the house, and I love the sea - that's it! I found the cost of over £500 a bit on the high side for a week in low-season, but I suppose the wonderful location pushes the price up. As it turned out, I don't begrudge the cost, but it does mean we are unlikely to be able to stay there again - and that makes me sad.

Superb location overlooking St Clement's isle and near to local facilities.

Wonderful setting and fantastic home from home.

By our arrival we found a welcome "cream tea", which was very nice of you! Because of the nice weather, we could enjoie the nice garden with the beautiful view over the sea! Also inside we felt very home. The distance to the nice village is very short..We could only recommend this place!!.

Superb property. The garden.

Important: To go from one of the bedroom to the toilete, you have to cross the oder badroom. This Information is not on you description.

We had a wonderful week at Howldreval, the cottage is well equipped and maintained and the views from all the windows and the gardens are absolutely amazing. We watched Dolphins play in the sea, absolutely fantastic.

Beautifully organised quick response to questions very happy with everything thank you. Property more than expected

Excellent in every respect.

This is a lovely property, which was welcoming, well equipped, warm and cosy. It's an old cottage, full of charm, with a modern kitchen and bathrooms which have been decorated to a high standard. I especially liked the comfy bed, quality linens and luxurious towels. Howldreval is in an ideal location for exploring the southern tip of Cornwall and the outstandingly beautiful South West Coastal Path. I could spend hours just watching the landscape change with the tides and although I stayed in late October I have no doubt that the views from the house and garden must be stunning in the summer months.

The cream tea that was prepared for our arrival was lovely,a very kind thought, after unpacking we sat in the garden overlooking the sea and enjoyed it thoroughly, hope to return, many thanks.
