Upstairs there are three comfortable bedrooms where you can even catch glimpses of the sea at Mount's Bay from the single room.

The pretty village of Paul with its local pub is like stepping back in time, and yet is less than a mile from the bustling and picturesque fishing village of Mousehole. With country walks all around, both ramblers and explorers will be perfectly at home here Elsa's Cottage Spend summer days discovering the many white sandy beaches and history of nearby traditional villages in this picturesque part of West Cornwall, in winter gather around the crackling woodburner for board games and homemade hot chocolate..

Lovely tin miners cottage in a good location. Bus at end of the road, pub with food in the village and Mousehole a short walk down the hill which has a harbour and more pubs and some cafes, gift shops, galleries. Local community very friendly and welcoming. Easy access to other parts of Cornwall, as well as to the South West Coast pathway. We didn't need to use our car at all, which helped us enjoy a nice break.

Cottage was tastefully decorated and has been thoughtfully renovated, it was comfortable, homely and warm even during the cold spell. Felt safe. Appreciated the attention to detail the owners obviously made and very pleased they are offering the property for booking.

I absolutely loved it at Elsa's. Perfect location. It felt so cosy and homely there. It had everything I needed there and it was also very nice to have some biscuits, milk and Prosecco left for me. Can't wait to go back again with my husband.

Mousehole is an idyllic village and fishing port with quaint cobbled streets full of bistros and art-galleries. Sit on the harbour and admire views of St Michael’s Mount or take a short drive to nearby Marazion to walk along the golden sands.

Mousehole is a great community with a fantastic atmosphere, and self catering in Mousehole is effortless. Visit at Christmas and experience the magical Mousehole Lights display!

Things to do in Mousehole

Mousehole is best when entered on foot, or bus, or bike. Cars are not the way to see Mousehole and best left outside. If you have to bring a car, there’s a big car park on the Penzance side of the village, close to The Old Coastguard Hotel.

Christmas lights

Mousehole has celebrated Christmas with beautiful lights for 40 years! The village is a winter wonderland in the dark nights and grey seas of winter. Many villages have light shows today but Mousehole is special. Holiday cottages overlooking the harbour always enjoy an extra special Cornish Christmas. Read more on our blog about Mousehole lights.

Walks around Mousehole

For those who are not so content with staying in their holiday homes, the walks around Mousehole are a joy all year round.  There are some fabulous circular walks but we think there's something particularly satisfying about catching a bus from Mousehole and walking back in (especially if your walk exits the village in a north of westerly direction; you'll soon discover the town is nestled at the bottom of a very steep hill!)  Read our blog on Mousehole Walks.

Coasteering in Mousehole

If you're seeking adrenaline and adventure, check out Coasteering Adventures.

Mousehole is one of Cornwall’s top Coasteering destinations. Nestled in the shelter of Mounts Bay, Mousehole offers multiple coasteering routes for all ages and abilities. Coasteering Adventures are thrilled to be the exclusive provider of coasteering from this location. Book an adventure and you will experience cliff jumping, sea swimming, climbing, bouldering, exploring caves and floating through gullies. With each session tailored to the group, you can choose the level that you are comfortable with.

Dating back to the 13th century Mousehole has a rich history tying it to the sea. 1595 saw all but 1 house (which still stands today) burned to the ground by the Spanish armada. 100 Years later Mousehole became a haven for the ‘Barbary Pirates’ with a number of caves on the route being where their treasure was hidden. During the 1800’s Mousehole settled into a thriving fishing village and you’ll regularly see the small fishing boats from Mousehole pass our groups whilst out on route.

A brief history of Mousehole

Today Mousehole is beautiful and welcoming holiday destination This popular holiday destination has seen more than its fair share of hardtimes tragedy over the years.

The Quay was built in 1392, holding the harbour like a pair of protective arms. Fishing was always important to Mousehole. These days there are fewer boats fishing from the village but there is an active fishing fleet operating out of nearby Newlyn, a town worth a visit on its own account. Tom Bawcock's Eve, Mousehole

Every year, the people of Mousehole celebrate the bravery of Tom Bawcock. Years ago, when the boats couldn't get out in the storms, the villages had no fish to eat. Tom dared to take his boat out and returned with enough fish to make a Star Gazey fish pie for the whole village.

Thank you to Aspects Holidays for a wonderful Christmas holiday in the delightful, spotlessly clean and well equipped Elsa's Cottage. Everything was perfect from start to finish - easy booking, lots of information, beautiful, high quality accommodation and an opportunity to give feedback.

Really enjoyed our stay. Clean ,comfortable and welcoming. Cottage full of character and charm.Stairs could be a little tricky for some. Quality family time spent together and dog friendly.Already booked again.

Don’t want to write a nice review as want to keep Elsas cottage a secret! We had a great time. The cottage is great, full of character and super cosy. Lovely area, both Paul and Mousehole great to explore and the South West Coast Path on your doorstep. 5 Stars????

We loved Elsa’s cottage. Very comfy, nicely decorated and well equipped. There’s a 20 min walk down to Mousehole, mainly downhill, so will take a bit longer to walk back if you have any breathing or mobility issues. But great location for exploring this part of Cornwall.

We would highly recommend booking with Aspect Holidays. They were fantastic from the outset, such helpful and friendly staff. The service was first class and we will definitely use again .

First time at the cottage and probably the best we have stayed at. Everything provided was first class and the cottage was beautiful. Hope to come back again soon

We’ve just come back from our second year in Elsa’s Cottage. It’s a great location with parking, and a nice walk down to Mousehole Harbour. There is a stream and a tree swing for the children to play on by the parking space. The local pub does nice food. The cottage is really comfortable and cosy and has a lovely feel to it with good quality kitchen equipment and pretty crockery and ornaments, really comfy sofas and a great kitchen and living room for the family. We used the outside seating everyday and the shed is really handy for storing the beach gear. The bedrooms are all a good size, very nicely decorated with comfortable beds and solid furniture and the bathroom is spacious and has a good shower. The shower wasn’t working properly on the first day but the plumber came out straightaway and fixed it. The cottage is dog-friendly but we left ours behind this year because Mousehole Harbour doesn’t allow dogs at any time and dogs can’t be left alone in the cottage. We would love to come back again to stay in Elsa’s Cottage.

Super comfortable, relaxing holiday cottage to stay in. Our second visit and it doesn’t disappoint. Can highly recommend

We had an amazing stay last week here . The cottage is beautiful , very cozy & home from home . The decoration and furnishings are beautiful . Nothing is missing except some board games ! Location is very good , exceptionally quiet & parking right opposite . 10 min walk into Mousehole but a very steep hill climb 20 min walk back ! Local pub serving great food is only 5 min walk away . Would definitely stay again , we didn’t want to leave …..

We loved our stay here. It’s very cosy and a lot of thought has gone into the decor. We loved all the matching Royal Worcester pieces. Lots of glasses and plates and bowls which is also good to see. It’s in a very quiet location and all the neighbours are very friendly. Would definitely stay again

We had lovely short break in Elsa's Cottage and really enjoyed it. The cottage was warm and comfortable in a quiet part of Paul. It was very useful to be able to park nearby and be able to walk to Mousehole, though it is rather a steep climb up the hill. We would go again but probably not in the high season as there is so much traffic about.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are glad that you enjoyed this lovely property. It really is quite peaceful there isn't it? It does get quite busy here in the summer, but with the tucked away location of Elsa's, you are far enough away from the busy roads that you will not be disturbed at the property. It will be busy in the village of Mousehole nearby, but the team would be happy to advise you on quieter locations to visit, that are all within an easy drive from the property, if ever you were wanting to visit in the summer months. Tanya, Customer Services

Elsa’s cottage is beautifully decorated and very comfortable to stay in. The cottage and the village are quiet and peaceful. It is very well equipped for self-catering. 10 minutes easy walk down the hill to Mousehole, a steep walk back. Although there is no enclosed garden the stream at the end of the terrace of cottages is good for dogs to potter around, and it is great for getting straight onto the fields around Paul. Would definitely recommend Elsa’s cottage for a relaxing stay with great access to coast and countryside.

This place exceeded our expectations. It was more spacious than we were expecting and we were pleasantly surprised at how high spec everything was! It made our stay really feel like a home from home, which we loved. It’s a great location - a good base to visit many places and just a 10 minute walk down to Mousehole. We were 4 adults and a dog and were all v comfortable. We had a really great New Year here and would definitely recommend.

Fabulous cottage !! Excellent value for money, location amazing, wonderful for the dogs… just loved it!!!

This was our third stay at Elsa's cottage at Christmas. It's a wonderful cottage in a perfect location. Can't rate it highly enough. Lovely quiet location but just a stroll into Mousehole. Will hopefully get to say here again.

Was a perfect cottage for a warm and cosy week.

Clean homely cottage with good facilities. Lovely location, close to beaches and amenities. Would visit again.

We stayed at Elsa’s Cottage for a week and we could have not wished for a more perfect base and home from home to explore Cornwall. Plenty of space for three adults and a 9year old. The lack of phone signal was not a problem as the WiFi was good. All the equipment and home comforts you could possibly need. Lovely welcome pack on arrival. Easy check in and clear instructions. We managed to lock ourselves out on the last day - Aspects were a great help and it was sorted easily. Would love to return and would definitely recommend.

Lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful part of Cornwall. Had everything we needed and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a super holiday in this beautiful cottage. It was so well equipped it was like home from home. The woodburner was fabulous with logs left for us to use (visited in October). The sofas were comfy and we were able to watch Amazon Prime during our stay. A few steps away and we were right on the footpath which our dogs loved. Lovely little touches like tea bags/coffee & sugar was provided.

The cottage was perfect for us. The bed and sofas were very comfortable, and the property was exactly as described. Wifi was excellent and the woodburner kept us lovely and warm. The ordnance survey maps were a nice touch and were very helpful in planning our walks. The location was great, with a nice village pub 5 minutes walk away but only being a short downhill walk into Mousehole

An absolutely fabulous, charming cottage in a lovely village. Very clean and extremely well equipped. Excellent WiFi. We would definitely love to stay here again!

Elsa's cottage was lovely, from the moment we walked in until we pulled the door closed a week later. Good quality furnishings throughout, and excellent equipment and utensils in the kitchen. The beds we used were very comfortable and upstairs was nicely carpeted. I am aware this property has been recently refurbished and nice to see it has been done to an excellent standard, I hope the owners are justly proud of their work.
