We spent a wonderful Christmas at Cormorant cottage, lovely cottage that was warm and cosy, comfortable bed where I slept like a log. the kitchen was well equipped, I cooked my Christmas Dinner there without any difficulties. If you don't want to cook The Badger inn is literally on your doorstep, a minutes walk away where they do good food, we had a lovely carvery there on Christmas eve.Great location to visit other places, Penzance is just across the way. Truro half an hour away by car. We took the scenic train to St ives, the station is a 5 minute walk away, or you can drive and park your car at the station as the hill is a bit steep on the walk back from the station. There is a large Asda just down the road, and plenty of big stores in Penzance. Had such a good time we have already booked for next Christmas. If I have one complaint it is that I have returned home about a stone heavier.!!!

December 2023

We had a weeks stay at the beginning of April and we had a lovely time. Parking can be tricky on the main road but it’s nice having a parking space. The house is on busy main road which means it can be very noisy in the day- didn’t stop us from getting a good sleep. There’s no grass in the garden which I struggled with as the dog will only go to the loo on grass so had to walk up the main road to find some. The beach is amazing and about 1km walk from the house. The house itself is comfy clean and perfect for dogs. There’s a pub very close which is lovely but there’s no shops in Leland itself although there’s a lot of choices near by in carbis bay or hale. We said next time we’d probably stay someplace off the main road but for the price this cottage is lovely and would recommend!

Location was great. A few minutes walk to the lovely Porth Kidney beach, The Badger Inn a stones throw away and The Old Forge is a short walk up the road and if you wanted to travel by bus, the bus stop is a few yards up the road. You can hear the traffic during rush hours but that wasn’t a problem for us. Very comfy and cosy little cottage

Very nice, cosy cottage in an area we love. It's a great location as a base for the local beaches and ease of access into St Ives. The cottage was clean and well equipped and we really enjoyed our stay there.

We've previously stayed in two different properties on the same road so I knew what to expect with regards to traffic. It was particularly busy this year though (peak summer hols) so the difficulty in getting the car in and out meant we often opted to leave it and use the bus (this was fine as the bus stop is just down the street and saves the stress of trying to park in St Ives!) It's probably worth mentioning though that the parking space is quite tight length-wise, especially if you've got a long estate car as we have. It certainly wouldn't put us off going again though, so I'm sure we'll return to Cormorant in future.

Thank you for your helpful feedback, and great to hear that you liked it here. We include a photo on the website that shows a car in the space, to give an idea of the size and length of the space, but we will certainly look to get a measurement added to the website as soon as we can. Tanya, Customer Services

Cottage is lovely, close to beach. Garden is a sun trap. Kitchen well equipped and very clean. Only downside is parking space small so not adequate for bigger cars. Road outside VERY busy and VERY noisy especially in mornings.

Thank you for your feedback, we are so pleased you enjoyed your time at Cormorant Cottage. As the property is located on the main road into St Ives, we do try to make this clear in the website description as we always want to be as open and honest with guests. We also try to show the proximity of the car parking space and the road by including photos of a car parked in the space so that guests can decide whether this space is suitable for them. Katy, Customer Services.

Cottage is OK for a one week stay, not luxurious but adequate for a one week break. The only thing that really does need mentioning (as other reviews have done previously) is that the stairs are not suitable for young children, they are not steep in my opinion but there is a drop/step as you come out of the bedrooms literally onto the stair area, if you had young children it is totally unsuitable for them to stay there. The parking has been mentioned, it is possible to park a large car but you do need someone to see you out, also my brother who was driving dropped me and the dog in the road and then drove in as there would not be adequate space for the passenger to get out of the car! But at least there is a parking space.

We aim to offer a wide range of properties that will suit the very different needs, tastes, and budgets of individuals, so we are glad to hear that this property worked well for you. It offers lovely character, charm, and good value, whilst being in a fantastic location for easily getting into St Ives, Carbis Bay and Hayle, and quick access to the A30 and coast road for exploring a little further afield. With the traditional character of such cottages, stairs can be steeper and narrower, layouts quirkier and quite different to what many of us are used to in more modern buildings, but it certainly adds charm. We try to ensure that the website photos and description give a good idea of things like this, so we do hope that this was what you had expected. Tanya, Customer Services

Lovely cottage in a great location ..

After a last minute switch of cottage, we had a very pleasant stay. Cormorant cottage is in an ideal location. We had roadworks outside the property which meant parking was easier - could see this being awkward at peak traffic times - but at least we had parking.

The cottage needs a little TLC but all in all we felt it was very homely and very comfortable.

Old quaint cottage , very comfortable but not suitable for elderly or infirm due to the stairs, lack of a bannister at the top makes it unsafe in my opinion and my mum fell on the stairs Whilst mentioned previously it is on a very busy road which is approx 2 foot from front window. Parking is a bonus however difficult to manoeuvre in and out of due to busy road and blind spots . I drive a big car and it only just fitted into the parking spot . Aspect were excellent and quick in response to my questions and I would recommend them

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are so sorry to hear that your Mum had a fall. A lot of the more traditional Cornish cottages have quirkier layouts and steeper, narrower stairs than what many of us are used to, so it is always worth checking on the suitability of a property with the bookings team, if you are travelling with young children, elderly, or anyone with limited mobility. We always want to be as open and honest as possible, with website photos and descriptions, so that guests know what to expect, so we try to show the proximity of the property to the road and parking space size as best as we can with photos, including a car pictured in the space, to give an idea of what will fit. We are sorry if this is not what you had expected. We have since added a note to the website to highlight the steepness of the stairs. Thank you for your helpful comments and we hope that you still had a nice time here. Tanya, Customer Services

Second time we have booked with Aspects holidays, both cottages of a very good standard. Staff were very helpful when we made contact with office, we would use this service in the future for holiday bookings!

Had a great stay at cormorant cottage, the location actually suited us, which was near the beach and close to public transport network, train & bus nearby - The Beach is just a 10-15 minute walk and Hayle/Carbis Bay can be reached walking in under 40minutes or just a 5 min car journey.

The cottage itself was tidy, had all the amenities you would expect and was pretty cosy for a family of 4, (beware it is on a main road and can be a little noisy and difficult to park, however the description mentions that so no complaints).

In summary a great week away in a reasonably well kept cosy cottage and given the cost difference to staying in Carbis Bay or St Ives it was superb, however if your looking for somewhere to stay a bit closer to the action then this place is not for you, however if you want to chill out and escape the hustle of St Ives then I can certainly recommend it…

Lovley cosy cottage in a beautiful location. Has everything needed for a comfortable stay. We had a wonderful week there and would love to return soon!

Lovely cottage with a cosy homely feel! As advertised on a busy road and a tight drive way but didn’t bother us once in the house. Perfect escape for a week!

Great area and cottage and great walks.

A very traditional cornish cottage, nicely decorated and comfortable. The master bedroom is a good size although very little hanging space. On the whole a really nice place to stay, close to St Ives, Marazion (St Michael's Mount), Sennon, Lands End, Porthcurno and The Minack Theatre. The village pub is 2 mins walk and the year round dog friendly Porth kidney Sands a short stroll. Only real negative is the noise from the passing traffic but we did get accustomed to it after a few days.

A lovely quaint cottage near a lovely dog friendly beach porthkidney sands ,road very busy parking ok as long as you take time to reverse in and then easier to pull out when going out . A short walk to the train station to get into St ives and Carbis bay this is really great and reasonable . A great spot Lelant to get onto the a30 and discover this lovely part of Cornwall .

Lovely attractive property. Very comfortable for a family of four. Great location for Porthkidney beach - It is a beautiful beach 15 minutes walk down the road (past the church) Great for trains if you don’t fancy driving into St Ives etc. Lelant station is 5 minutes walk down the hill. Delicious cream tea at the Old Farmhouse & pottery on the corner opposite the Badger Inn. We found the location of the cottage ideal for exploring many of the lovely places in cornwall. Please be aware though that whilst the off-road parking is a great bonus, it is rather difficult getting in and out of the space and you would need an extra body directing you in and out. The road itself is very busy and if you are not used to road noise you may not find it very relaxing as it is a noisy road both day and night.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the fantastic location of this property; it really is in such a great spot for getting out exploring so many beautiful places around this area of Cornwall. Thanks for your helpful comments; the property is on a fairly busy, though also quite 'slow' section of road, and we would want customers to be aware of this before booking, as it may not be what everyone wants. The volume of traffic does vary greatly at different times of the year though, so out of peak weeks, you will generally hear a lot less of the passing traffic. We always find it best if you reverse in to the parking space here, which makes it much easier for getting out again, especially if you are trying to get out without anyone guiding you. Tanya, Customer Services

Beautiful cottage: however, not suitable for peace & quiet or relaxing break. Constant traffic noise affected our stay. Garden gates not secure for dogs near a very busy road during our stay.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

Thanks for your feedback and we are sorry if this property had not been what you had expected. It is located on the main road into St Ives, so we try to make this clear within the description, but we have now added further details to the description, as we would always want to be open and honest so that guests know what to expect from a property. The gates are secure, but the one by the road is a standard gate, with small gaps between panels and not very high, so this may be something worth considering if you are bringing a dog. For anyone interested in this property, there is a picture on the website to highlight the style of gate, but the team here would be very happy to chat about it further and advise on this. Although the road can be busy, and noise may be heard at times, this beautifully presented cottage is in such a fantastic location for exploring Cornwall, so we really are sorry to hear that you hadn't found it suitable for your party. Tanya, Customer Services

Lovely comfortable cottage near to local amenities and all our favourite places to visit. Road is quite busy so traffic noise took some getting used too as we are not used to it! Be careful getting out of parking space as it’s tight! Overall it was clean, cosy with everything we needed

Cormorant cottage is warm and cosy and has a tastefully decorated rustic feel. It is in an excellent location for exploring west cornwall and all of the many beautiful local beaches. The cottage provided a great base for us and is bigger than expected. Only slight drawback was the main road, which can be very busy at peak times, but this was out weighed by the convenience of having a parking space, garden for our dog and the convenience of having st ives and local supermarkets just a short drive away.

Just returned from cormorant cottage in Lelant , ideal for pub with lovely beer garden and good food , walking distance to dog friendly beach and train station . The cottage is small but adequate as described and dog friendly .

Lovey little cottage perfect for our family and dog. Close to train station pub and beach. Would definitely recommend

Family of 3 Lovely Cornish Cottage with lots of character. Situated perfectly for the beach; which is about a 15 minute walk. Village Pub with good sized portions and home made food. The cottage was a perfect size for two adults a dog, and a 14 year old. Personally I wouldn’t recommend the cottage for families with younger children due to the stairs; particularly as you come straight out of the bedrooms onto the top of the staircase. TV/DVD has a good signal and WiFi an advantage. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend the cottage highly.

Thank you for your comments and it is great to hear how much you liked Cormorant Cottage. Traditional Cornish cottages like Cormorant Cottage are packed full of character inside and out, but often with this character, you can find that they can be a little smaller, with layouts/stairs more quirky and steeper than in more modern buildings, so it is definitely an important consideration when booking a property like this. We always try to be as open and honest as possible, and try to give an accurate representation of properties within our photos, so we hope that we have achieved that in this case, but we will continue to monitor feedback. We hope that you enjoyed everything that this fantastic location and cottage had to offer, and hopefully we will see you back here soon. Tanya, Customer Services.

A fantastic weeks holiday in a well equipped cottage which is conveniently located. Only a few minutes walk to the nearest bus stop then only a 9 minute drive to St Ives. A few minutes walk to the nearest pub and within walking distance to a year round dog friendly beach. Would definitely stay again and would definitely recommend.

Cormorant Cottage is a beautifully appointed cottage. It is central to lots of interesting places and having the dog friendly, vast Porthkidney beach only 10 mins walk away was excellent. The traffic noise could be a problem for some, however.

Great cottage and location. Short walk to great beach to walk my dog. Looking forward to booking next year.

An absolute little gem . Beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Ideal for dogs . Unfortunately the main road was very busy at all times, which meant reversing the car out of the drive way very nerve wracking. Train station was brilliant, a very short walk away. St Ives and Carbis Bay stunning.

Thanks for your feedback. The road can be a little busy at certain times, and care should be taken when manoeuvring out of the space. We are sorry if this was not quite what you had expected. Where possible, we have always found it easier to reverse into the space, making it a lot easier to get back out onto the road again. It was great to hear that this didn't detract from your stay at the property though and that you had a great holiday. Thanks again for your comments, and hope to see you back here soon. Tanya, Customer Services

Loved the cottage in general. It is furnished nicely very modern and you get a sense of relaxation the minute you arrive. Perfect thank you.

Fabulous week spent at cormorant cottage. Close to the lovely porthkidny beach and the bustling towns of St ives

Lovely cottage, well equipped. On a very busy main road with not much of a footpath so beware if you have dogs. Very comfortable stay, loved the kitchen it was so light. Living room is very comfortable, bedrooms really nice size, mattress in back bedroom was very hard. It went quite cool for a few days but we couldnt get the heating to come on, so perhaps intructions need to be a bit clearer. All in all a very nice stay.

Thank you for your feedback. There are usually instructions for all properties for appliances and heating etc, so we are very sorry if these were not present and if that caused some problems with getting the property up to a comfortable temperature. We will check next time we visit the property to ensure that these are available. Thank you for letting us know. Tanya, Customer Services

The close proximity to the beach is a real plus also the same with the Badger Pub. For dog owners you can't get much better than Porthkidney beach, it is vast and dog friendly all year round. The Badger pub is also dog friendly with a large beer garden. The living room is very comfortable and relaxing. The wifi is good and the TV is adequate. Thank you for a fantastic week

Allen

Nice comfy dog friendly cottage with good pubs nearby. Good location, close to A30 for getting around Cornwall. Road can be very busy at certain times making parking/getting out a bit hair-raising as visibility isn't great because of stone wall. Overall would recommend.

We are delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your time at Cormorant Cottage. The road can be a little busy at certain times, and care should be taken when manoeuvring out of the space, which we try to highlight on the website description, so that guests can be prepared for this. We are sorry if this caused you any difficulty. We hope you agree that the convenience of having the parking space, which are in high demand in this area, made it worthwhile, as well as being in such a convenient location to be able to easily get to Carbis Bay and St Ives, and easy access to the a30 to explore all that the area has to offer. Thanks again for your comments, and hope to see you back here soon. Tanya, Customer Services

We had a great family holiday with the dogs in Cormorant cottage, Porthkidney beach is superb for dogs and children and only a short walk away, extremely quiet year round and definite highlight of our stay.

A beautiful, cosy and comfy cottage, very well appointed, and great to have a parking space.

Good location, very handy having the off road parking. Beach wasn’t far away being dog friendly as well clean and tidy. Don’t rely on trains stopping at Lelant it’s stops at Lelant Saltings. Approximately a 15 minute walk. Will return next year. ??

Don’t book if you are a light sleeper or if you are in any way unsteady on your feet.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry if there were any points about this property that didn't meet all of your expectations. Traditional Cornish cottages, like Cormorant Cottage, often have layouts/stairs that are more quirky and steeper than in more modern buildings, but packed full of character and charm. We appreciate that this may not suit every guest and we would always try to give an accurate representation of properties within the photos and descriptions, so hope that we have achieved that in this case. We have since looked into your comment about the gap at the top of the window, which allowed road noise in, and can confirm that the gap is only present when the window is left on 'vent' setting. It can also be set to fully close, which is useful for those colder days or the evenings, and to minimise any traffic noise. We are sorry if this was not immediately clear, and hope that this information will mean that you would still consider returning to this lovely cottage. Tanya, Customer Services

Beautiful cottage, just a short walk to the beach. We did a short break and wished it was for longer.
