High Tide - Sandy Acres
Gwithian

£1275 - £3356 per week
Book

If you are looking for rejuvenation, High Tide, previously known as Viking, will calm your spirit and nourish your soul. It’s all about barefoot luxury, where a minimalist Scandinavian style and approach creates an open plan, light-filled living space. With three calming bedrooms and three spacious bathrooms, you won't be short of space in which to relax and unwind. Rinse off sandy toes after an early morning stroll across the beach when your only company will be your four legged friend and the first surfers of the day.

Plentiful with both colour and space, the indoor and outdoor social spaces make High Tide great for families or a group of friends to make cherished memories. A ten minute stroll will find you on the three miles of golden sands at Sandy Acres beach, where a picture is worth a thousand words. It even has its own surf school and yoga classes, these are silent sports, none require an engine and your reward comes in the form of special moments of connection with nature. In particular the lushness that surrounds Sandy Acres seems never ending. Cleverly designed with the environment and its immediate landscape in mind, High Tide blends into its surroundings and light pours in through the large bi-fold doors. The wooden decked area is a wonderful spot to sink into the hot tub after a day having fun in the rolling surf or raise your glass to good times, as you watch the last of the days sun slip down behind the sand dunes.

We had a wonderfully relaxing and luxurious break at High Tide. All needs catered for in tranquil spot. Very much a home from home in an area we love and repeatedly return to. The property is extremely well appointed, bright and comfortable. There were only two of us and our dog but the property was very spacious and perfect for a family or friends too. Totally recommend!

Absolutely stunning property, so well equipped. Had everything and more, like not just 6 mugs and 6 knives! It’s so frustrating when there is only 1 of everything. Comfortable beds, lovely and warm in the property. The hot tub was an absolute hit. When we arrived it wasn’t working properly, but dealt with immediately. Great location, 10mins walk to the beach, dog absolutely loved it. Not the easiest walk down to the beach, just a thought for anyone who struggles walking up and down quite steep beach paths. Would highly recommend this property and would definitely use again.

Holidays in Gwithian

Gwithian is a beautiful area of Cornwall and is home to the beautiful Gwithian beach, a popular location for beach sports and surfers. This impressive stretch of sand is immensely popular with sand yachts and kite buggies as well as being a real hot spot for surfers of all abilities.

Gwithian is a coastal village situated in a conservation area and close to National Trust areas. Here you will find a friendly local pub, three cafes offering delicious refreshments and a surf academy. Being just a short drive to the harbour and beach towns of St IvesPenzanceMouseholePorthleven and Marazion, self catering holidays in Gwithian make for a fun packed holiday for all!

Did you know...

Gwithian forms part of a 3 mile long beach that stretches from Hayle Estuary to Godrevy!

Things to do in Gwithian

Surfing

With great surf all year round, it's no wonder it's a popular surf spot with both locals and visitors. Perfect for beginners and advanced surfers, Gwithian is an ideal place to learn and progress. With a local Surf school operating from here, first timers will be up and riding in no time.

Beaches

Gwithian Towans, Hayle Towans and Godrevy offer three miles of golden sands and the most dramatic coastline stretching across to St Ives Bay. At low tide, with such a vast amount of sand, there is plenty of room for everyone – even horses getting their daily exercise. There are large areas of rock pools and intriguing caves which are great for kids to explore. Visit in the evening and you may be treated to a stunning sunset. Read more about Gwithian Towans and other beaches in the area on our blog. It's also worth visiting the rugged cliffs at Hell's Mouth, which is just a 5 minute drive away, where you can park your car for free and enjoy a delicious cream tea in the cafe.

Foraging

Foraging is popular in Cornwall, and Gwithian Towans offers an ideal place to give it a go. Foraging lessons are available, during which you'll discover everything from how to make seaweed crisps, to picking edible flowers. It's certain to be a fun day out for the whole family. Check out our blog post on Wild Food Walks in Cornwall to find out more.

St Gothian Nature Reserve

What was once a commercial sand quarry, this site has since been declared as a nature reserve. The habitat has been improved with the addition of a large pool and other smaller pools which have been fenced off, creating a safe place for wildfowl and waders. Perfect for bird watching. Dog walkers are asked to keep dogs on a lead so as to not disturb the wildlife.

Walking

From Gwithian, you can walk the South West Coast Path all the way to St Ives, and experience some beautiful scenery along the way. Pass through Hayle and Lelant before finally arriving at St Ives Harbour. The walk takes approximately 6 hours so be sure to bring supplies!

Great place and ideal for dogs and families

Brilliant. Even Better than the pictures- we loved it. Secluded but close enough to hayle and road links. Already looking at booking next year!

Recommend property. Great for families and groups of friends. Beautiful peaceful surroundings

Fabulous Holiday at High Tide Sandy Acres. Everything you could wish for in a family Cornish holiday, amazing perfectly equipped immaculate house, luxury touches, 500 metres from perfect beach, quite relaxing location, would definitely recommend.

Hot tub Star gazing at its best. High Tides- Sandy Acres is beautifully tucked away, but not too remote. The location is amazing, perfect if you take your bikes too, some lovely cycle rides in the area. Highly recommend taking the car down to the beach car park, especially if you have kids, we spent everyday at the beach with our 3 yr old son, watch out for that walk back up the sand dunes though! (Buns of steel) The gate on the decking area is a life saver, our little one spent hours playing on the decking and it was great to know he was safe. Highly recommended.

Lovely house & wonderful location within walking distance of the beach and Liesi's delicious cakes at Sandy Acres café. Aspects are a great agency to deal with.

We enjoyed a great week at Sandy acres. The lodge was exceptional, spacious and included every comfort. It is ideal for very fit, young families. It's, remote, uphill location may be more challenging for older clients. Especially those who like to walk to a pub or restaurants

Reply from Aspects Holidays

It really is a stunning location and property, isn't it? While the walk through the dunes to the beach and cafe may be a little challenging for those who are less mobile, or with a pushchair for example, for most, this is within an 8-minute walk (4 mins drive) from the property. And with the nearest convenience store being a 14 minute walk (3 min drive) and the same to get to Lidl (in the opposite direction), the town of Hayle with all its shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, within 25 minutes' walk (5 minute drive), you are in a lovely peaceful location, away from traffic noise and loads of passers-by, but still close enough to get to all the amenities and attractions within a few minutes by car, or a bit of a longer walk for the more energetic. The best of both worlds! We're glad that you liked it :-) Tanya, Customer Services

Aspects are a fantastic company to deal with. We stayed at High Tides on Sandy Acres and it truly is a haven. The house itself is very well equipped, beautifully spacious and extremely light and airy with serene decor. We loved that every bedroom has its own bathroom. The hot tub is a very high quality one which is maintained daily so make sure you take the plunge there. Location wise it’s a wonderful beach or coastal path walk to Gwithian in one direction (highly recommend both Red River and the Rock Pool for food) or Hayle in the other direction (don’t miss Lula’s beach ‘shack’ which is definitely not a shack!! So overall a fabulous place. My only issue is that the design of the house does make for ‘noise’ especially from the kitchen area. Fine if you’re just 2, fine if you’re already used to family noise but 3 out of the 4 of us are noise sensitive so noise cancelling headphones most definitely earned their keep that week. Number 4 of was of course the one clattering the plates ??

Lovely well equipped lodge,by amazing beach.Hot tub a bonus ,everything nice e and clean would recommend.

Great Location, Super Beach House that provided all that we were promised and more! Another Top Quality Stay Away with Aspects, Thank you.

Luxury lodge in an ideal location!

Great locations, beautiful house, spacious and modern. Great decking area and hot tub !

Viking is a stunning property with the latest tech and well equipped kitchen suitable for cooking and entertaining a family group. Bedrooms are spacious well decorated and very comfortable. The outdoor deck and hot tub was a real plus and checked cleaned each day by the site team. A short walk to the beach and lots of great walks on your doorstep albeit the location is a little remote and a car is needed for shopping and exploring.

Viking exceeded our expectations. More beautiful than in the pictures. We have never stayed in a house which is as well equipped as this property. Really good quality equipment. Lovely hot tub maintained daily. We would recommend without hesitation.
