Tom Bawcock's Eve, Mousehole

The tradition of Tom Bawcock comes from the feast or famine lifestyle of Cornwall.  The story goes that it was just before Christmas; there had been no fish for weeks, the boats couldn’t get out into the raging storm, the village was starving. One man, Tom Bawcock, dared to take his boat out of the harbour’s safety. He returned with enough fish to make fish pie for the whole village.

Today, a festival takes place each year to celebrate Tom Bawcock's bravery. During the festival, Star Gazey pies are eaten in memory of this famous event.

Great location and amazing views. Amenities close by for essentials and short distance from St Ives. House is very well equipped with everything you need.

If you need a spacious property with plenty of bedrooms all with they own bathrooms book moonbeams it’s great

Moonbeams is a lovely property in a fantastic location with spectacular views. Each of the 5 en suite rooms were spacious and comfortable. All of our guests for the week were impressed as soon as they walked in. The living space in this house was more than adequate for all of us. The short walk along the coastal path into St Ives, and the close proximity to top tourist spots like St Michaels Mount, Lands End and The Minack Theatre makes it an ideal base for the perfect holiday in the most beautiful part of the country.

We where a party of adults and 2 dogs, I was apprehensive at first as to whether we would be cramped, but to my pleasant surprise there was ample room for all of us and our 4 legged friends. All rooms where immaculate and exactly as described in the brochure, the kitchen in particular was exceptional with very sharp knives (a rarity) only downsize I would recommend investment in a decent can opener a very minor inconvenience. I would certainly stay here again if we visit Cornwall again with a large party, if a smaller group would certainly use Aspect Holidays for a suitable property.

Thank you for a wonderful experience

Helen Nussbaum

Moonbeams is an absolutely stunning property, with plenty of space for everyone, with breathtaking views over Carbis Bay from almost every room at the rear. The location is perfect and my family and I spent a wonderful week at Moonbeams!

We booked moonbeams as our Daughter was getting married at the Carbis Bay Hotel and as there was my wife and I plus grandson, my Mother, married daughter and partner, Son and wife and their two fitted are circumstances brilliantly. The place was big enough for the ten of us to move around without issues and with each bedroom having its own ensuite bathroom there were no worries at all.

Moonbeams is an amazing property. We stayed the week before Easter with extended family. There is more than enough room to have your own space if needed. The living accommodation, kitchen, outdoor space is just fabulous. The views over Carbis Bay are out of this world. Pure heaven. We were also blessed with good weather. The bedrooms are spacious each with its own bathroom. This is just a real gem of a place. Every need is catered for. The short walk to the beach is steep but didn’t deter us. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here and wouldn’t hesitate in returning. We would definitely recommend this beautiful house. The only issue was that we did encounter plumbing issues with the loo in the 3rd floor en-suite bathroom. The issue is that there isn’t enough pressure to flush first time and I think it will continue to be a problem. Aspects dealt with our issue quickly and efficiently however I do think it may be an ongoing problem until rectified.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are glad to hear that you liked this fantastic property; those views certainly are breath-taking aren't they? To hopefully put your mind at rest, should you ever return; we have followed this up with the plumber, who has now fitted a special flush button and informed us that this should prevent an ongoing issue with it. We will of course continue to monitor this. Thanks for letting us know and for your patience while trades attended, and we hope to see you back soon. Tanya, Customer Services

Fantastic place to stay for all family, lots of space for everyone. Great TV games room for the younger members of the group. Be prepared to walk up some steep hills to get back to the house.

Having you guys on the end of an email or phone was fantastic. Your service and prompt replies were terrific. Say hi to Peter the plumber too :) Moonbeams is a magnificent house and perfectly laid out for our group; two couples, my dad and two dogs. Everyone had a sea view and space to chill. I loved how ‘at home’ we felt from the moment we walked in; everything we needed was there. It’s location was great too with plenty of dog-friendly beaches and restaurants close by. All in all we had a wonderful time.
