Hawkes Point Cottage Carbis Bay

£1039 - £2571

Hawkes Point Cottage offers awe-inspiring views across Porthkidney Beach over to Godrevy Lighthouse and beyond to the horizon. Alongside the garden runs the St Ives branch line (voted the most scenic in the country) where the train passes at a snail's pace and gives you a gentle toot from the driver! Within the grounds, The Lookout chalet and two further eco lodges with magnificent views are also available to book alongside the cottage or separately. Whether you're a larger family, a couple of friends wishing to take some time out or a pair of lovebirds wanting a taste of coastal romance then this impressive home has it all.

Staying here you will understand why a recluse who once lived at the original cottage with his cat Spriggans, a pony and cow chose here to opt out of life's chaos. What better place to come and escape the whirlwind speeds of everyday life than to this wonderfully designed and renovated luxury holiday cottage offering all the comforts required for a restful, easy and uplifting holiday for all. For those that would like to explore beyond the sanctuary of Hawkes Point Cottage, just moments from your front door is a footpath that crosses the St Ives scenic branch line leading you down to Porthkidney beach or around the headland to Carbis Bay and St Ives. Hawkes Point itself is a renowned angling spot, where sea bass pass on their way in and out of Hayle Estuary. The whole of South West Cornwall is within easy travelling distance.

Tom Bawcock's Eve, Mousehole

The tradition of Tom Bawcock comes from the feast or famine lifestyle of Cornwall.  The story goes that it was just before Christmas; there had been no fish for weeks, the boats couldn’t get out into the raging storm, the village was starving. One man, Tom Bawcock, dared to take his boat out of the harbour’s safety. He returned with enough fish to make fish pie for the whole village.

Today, a festival takes place each year to celebrate Tom Bawcock's bravery. During the festival, Star Gazey pies are eaten in memory of this famous event.

Stunning location and view

June 2018

Hawkes Point Cottage is a wonderful place for a family holiday. It is spacious, light and airy and is well furnished and equipped. It has the most wonderful view over Porth Kidney Sands and over to the Hayle Estuary. You could spend your whole holiday just staring out of the window, or sitting outside, watching the sky and light change and the tide come in and out. A great place for respite but also an area with a great variety of things to do and places to go. We also recomend Becks Fish and Chips, The Bean Inn and La Casita for meals out just up the road.
