2 Hillside Cottages
Carbis Bay

£436 - £1147 per week
Book

This lovingly renovated mid-terrace stone cottage built c.1821 offers everything you need for a relaxing holiday as a small family or a couple's retreat. Situated a few steps below the main road into St Ives and perched high above Carbis Bay, 2 Hillside is a surprisingly quiet, characterful but contemporary home with traditional hardwood sash windows and doors, vintage radiators, original granite fireplace, slate flooring throughout the ground floor and an eclectic mix of stylish furniture in keeping with coastal living. A well-equipped kitchen with AEG appliances, granite worktops and handmade wall tiles complement the bistro style dining area. The back door leads directly onto a spacious, sunny deck with uninterrupted sea views across to Gwithian Towans and Godrevy Lighthouse. An array of outdoor furniture lends itself to al fresco dining or lounging back with your favourite book and East facing terraced gardens lead down to the lower deck, perfect for sun worshippers. For early birds the sunrises are not to be missed. Returning inside, carpeted stairs lead to a light and airy master bedroom with original floorboards and once again with lovely sea views. Off the landing is a good size modern shower room and to the front a compact but comfortable and tastefully furnished single bedroom.

The cottage includes an allocated parking space to the front of its garage which is situated up a short lane across the main road. Carbis Bay, a designated Blue Flag' beach, is a five-minute walk down through the steep wooded valley below the cottage where you can walk barefoot along the golden sands, hang out in the beach bar and restaurant, or hire wetsuits, paddle boards, surfboards and kayaks. Be aware the trek back up is considerably more challenging. St Ives is a 25-minute walk along the stunning coastal path where you can explore a wide range of independent shops, restaurants and art galleries, surrounded by more award-winning sandy beaches catering for both young families and seasoned surfers. A regular rail and bus service is available for the return journey home and promises spectacular views along the way.

2 Hillside is a lovely traditional Cornish cottage, full of character. We loved the outside space which is excellent, providing great views over St ives bay. Parking around St Ives can be quite difficult so having a parking spot was a real bonus. The location is great for access to the beaches and St Ives along the coast path although the hills are a bit of a challenge but there is a bus stop nearby. Tesco is only a few minutes walk away as is the Cornish Arms. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would happily stay here again.

Great location and wonderful views. I also needed to speak with Aspect Holidays, and received excellent service.

Even though 2 Hillside Cottages is situated on the main road to Carbis Bay the noise from the traffic is minimal. The cottage itself has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. It is in easy reach of St Ives and there is a bus stop just round the corner. Would certainly stay there again.

Gorgeous period cottage with breathtaking sea views and spacious 2-level garden to enjoy these on. Fantastic location with Tesco superstore only 6 minutes by feet and Central St Ives - just under 30 minutes. Probably an all-time favourite - felt like home!

This cottage is an absolute "little gem" with an amazing view across the valley to the sea from the verandah. It has been very well designed to use the space to best advantage and tastefully furnished throughout. All equipment was in good working order.

With a Tesco just a few minutes walk away it was very easy to self-cater here. The cottage is perfectly located for exploring the area with St Ives and Hayle just a few miles away in either direction.

I expect we will stay here again!

Enjoyed our stay and walks into St Ives unfortunately some of the eateries need improvement!

It is a shame to hear that you did not enjoy some of the restaurants/cafes here, as there are some fantastic places to eat in the town. The team would be happy to pass on some of our personal recommendations if you are ever returning. We are glad that you enjoyed your time at 2 Hillside Cottages though and hopefully we will see you back again. Tanya, Customer Services

2 Hillside is a great little cottage in Carbis Bay quite close to the beach however be prepared to give yourself a bit of a workout if you decide to walk to and from the beach on the adjacent footpath. We would definitely have used the seats had there been any. We stayed during a gloriously sunny week and enjoyed the 20 minute walk into St Ives to watch the sun go down over Porthmeor Beach.

Beautiful little Hideaway in a Fabulous location above Carbis Beach. Would highly recommend it is Furnished and equipped to a high standard with everything you need. Lovely sea glimpse from the Bedroom.

This cottage lived up to the expectations and would recommend to anyone thinking of booking however one or two minor points which owner could rectify at minimal cost 1 in the porch area a shoe rack and coat stand or hooks 2 A proper lock on the bathroom door 3 relocate towel rail in bathroom 4 outdoor light on decking area The above are positive negatives we had a lovely And relaxing time at this accommodation

Thank you for your helpful suggestions; we will certainly pass those on to the property owners for their consideration. We are glad that you had a great time here and that 2 Hillside Cottages was everything that you had hoped it would be. Tanya, Customer Services

Hillside is a beautiful cottage, cosy and inviting with stunning views across Carbis Bay. The owners have done a fantastic job of furnishing and decorating, we felt completely at home and everything felt as though it had been carefully chosen and really helped us to enjoy our stay. We both agreed that the bed was the comfiest we had slept in! Waking up to the sun rising over the bay was also a real plus point. Tesco and a Costcutter are within walking distance, as are a couple of takeaways and restaurants. We loved the walk into St Ives, the scenery is breathtaking! We had a fantastic week at Hillside and will definitely be back again.

Hillside Cottage was fantastic. We stayed here for 6 days. Weather was excellent. Able to park the car over the road 50 metres. Tesco is 2 minutes drive away. Turn out of the Cottage and turn left, after 30 metres turn left again and walk down the path and this takes you to the beach. Beautiful. There is also a path from here linking it to ST Ives The Cottage has everything you need.. We would definatley stay here again

Lovely quaint cottage..... decorated to a good standard..... Not suitable though for anyone with any walking difficulties..... My only real niggle was the fact it has no wardrobe......

The cottage is beautifully set out, really well thought out and a delight, a credit to the owners. The only drawback was the parking facility, driveway opening onto a blind bend and a very busy road.

We are glad to hear that you liked 2 Hillside Cottage, and whilst the road is a little busy to pull out on, the availability of parking is a huge bonus in an area where many properties do not have this facility, so we hope that you found it helpful. Tanya, Customer Services

Comfortable cottage with lovely sea view Situated in convenient position near amenities Can walk to beach or easy travel to St Ives on train Watch out for busy road, quite difficult to cross when going to car park.

Hillside Cottage is a little gem. Restored to a very good standard, this 200 year old building provides a comfortable and relaxing holiday accommodation. We enjoyed the outside area: wonderful view towards Porth Kidney beach from the back patio and the lower decking area give shelter for relaxing on a sun lounger. The location is perfect for beaches and a stroll not St Ives.

An excellent newly refurbished cottage ( believe we are the first guests ) in a great location for walking to Carbis bay, 5-10 mins or St Ives 30 mins via costal path, slightly less main road. Be prepared to burn some calories walking back from Carbis bay beach! Regular buses from outside the property some open top to St Ives, Penzance and lands end, the St Ives train station is 5ish mins walk and £1 one way £2 return. The cottage is very comfortable the standard of fittings etc. Very good, there is a smart TV and WiFi , kitchen well fitted with all you need including microwave, washing machine, oven electric ceramic hob, and dishwasher, there are 2 levels to the rear of the property with a great view of the bay, top deck with parasol chairs and table steps lead down to a lovely relaxing area with 2 wooden loungers. The view from the rear bedroom window Is spectacular With the sun rising early morning 5 am when we were there - was a must every day - the sun sets to the front of the property casting beautiful sunlight to the front bedroom. There is plenty of draw storage and hanging hooks for clothes. For those wanting to eat in the Tesco is a 5 min walk, there is an excellent Italian tapas style restaurant within walking distance that does take away as well and becks fish and chips Close by both eat in and take away, we also tried the Chinese delivery service from the St Ives restaurant and that was very good and arrived on time Bear in mind the cottage is on a very busy road, it’s not at all noisy but crossing the road to the car park area opposite can be a challenge and is best attempted by walking down the road a little to the left before crossing - the entrance to where the car is parked is on a bend again when pulling out advice is to turn left rather than right We loved our week at the cottage and will defiantly return , such a wonderful area plenty to Do and explore.
