Our 3rd stay here at Pondokkie, we love everything about it, very comfortable a real home from home, you really could not ask for more from a holiday let. It is a bit steep into Mevagissey if you are not very mobile(just take the car) but the views are lovely being high up so more than make up for that. The improvements to the kitchen and parking area just add the to this wonderful property. Thank you Paul and Jo for sharing your lovely home, hope we will be able to stay again.

March 2024

We, a family if 4 plus a dog, had just the best time on our half term break at Pondokkie In Mevagissey. Everything was clearly explained both in writing prior to our arrival and when we met Paul, the owner. The cottage is fabulous and Mevagissey is beautiful. We wished could have stayed longer.

Holidays in Mevagissey

Stay in Mevagissey and you’ll be perfectly placed to explore all that the south coast of Cornwall has to offer. Take a ferry trip to Fowey, visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan or spend a day at the beach at the nearby Pentewan Sands.

Best known for its harbour and fishing boats, Mevagissey still boasts as being part of Cornwall’s thriving fishing industry. Fresh fish can even be bought from the hut on the harbour wall, located a short stroll from the village aquarium, once the lifeboat station. Wander around the harbour area, with its narrow streets, fascinating shops and galleries and recall its smuggling history, or just relax in the bars and restaurants and coves and on nearby beaches.

There is a ferry boat which runs from end of April to beginning of October from Mevagissey to Fowey three or four times a day (don’t miss the return journey!) – journey time about 35 minutes. You may be lucky and spot some playful dolphins!

Great host and a very comfortable and relaxed property with great views. The hill down into Mevagissey is a little steep for anyone who struggles to walk but wants to venture by foot into town.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are so pleased you had a lovely stay at Pondokkie! As you have said, the views from the property are absolutely stunning due to the elevated position, but we do appreciate that the walk to and from Mevagissey may be steep for some guests. We know this is an inportant factor to take into consideration when booking a property, so we do mention this in the property description. If you ever have any questions about accessibility please do feel free to contact our bookings department who will be more than happy to advise. Katy, Customer Services.

Everything was perfect..Paul and Jo (the owners)..live next door..waht a fabulous and fascinating man Paul is . From the views to the comfy beds to the space ..we loved it and the pooches loved the garden (even the apple tree gave up one last fruit which tasted amazing)..perfect is all I can say .you won't be disappointed.

Pondokkie was a very nice property and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again This exceeded all expectations, rooms were very nice and spacious with the added "homely feel" with all the creature comforts that you dont normally get at a rental property.

Stunning property with amazing views.Loved the cream tea on arrival and cake. Property was really clean and had all the space and equipment we needed. The little library was our favourite room with lovely sea views. The owners were very helpful too.We would definitely go back to Pondokkie,we didn’t want to come home.

This was a return visit to Pondokkie and every bit as good as the first. What is there not to like with an outstanding property, location, views, and indeed the friendly and engaging owners who are always available for a chat and happy to share recommendations. We’ve been self catering for 30 years and stayed in excess of a 100 properties and this is one of those very special few that you’d happily return again and again and highly recommend to others.

Really appreciated the personal welcome by Paul, and he saw for himself how our fur babies enjoyed the garden, and absolutely delightful space. We can't fault anything about the house, facilities, or location to Mevagissey Harbour.

Amazing property. So comfortable and homely, yet clean and modern, with stunning views. Paul was a wonderful and welcoming host with lots of tips for exploring the area. We will definitely return again.

A fantastic cottage, that was the best equipped we’ve ever been to. A great welcome and overall great hosts.

We’ll be back.

We had a lovely holiday at Pondokkie. Its a large, dog friendly, well equipped family home, with stunning sea views

What a superb property. Very much a home from home. Wonderful owners. Would not hesitate to book this again.

The reception by the host was very welcoming with all lights on, jazz playing and incredible heating it made a rainy day in February amazing!. Along with scones, saffron cake, milk, tea, coffee we felt very cared for. The property has great space and is very clean, it suited two couples very well, with each having a bathroom and sitting area on each floor. The views are great, especially with storm Eunice approaching! There is very little not thought about to make one's stay easy, other than perhaps salt, pepper, oil and vinegar, but actually we didn't need them. Finding the property in the dark should have been easy but our sat nav sent us off before Mevagissey and straight past it! Mevagissey is alive in the winter and very much a working harbour, unlike some west coast holiday enclaves, so it was easy to find shops, restaurants and cafes open. It is not surprising that Pondokkie is almost fully booked all year. Thank you for a lovely time.

This property surpassed all expectations. Having spent the past 10 Christmases in holiday cottages this has to be one of our top 2, from the personal touches, well equipped kitchen, friendly but not intrusive owners to the quality and attention to detail throughout the house. We would highly recommend a stay here, we would even be tempted to break our own rule not to return to a property, and re-book ourselves.

Excellent cottage plenty of equipment for people and dogs ..brilliant location and beautiful views .

Had a weeks stay in October at Pondokkie and what an amazing week it was! Paul was ready to greet us when we arrived and gave us a quick tour and then left us to enjoy our scones, which they had kindly left for us (yummy). The house is very well presented and in the perfect location with beautiful views. It is a short walk from the harbour, although the walk back to the house is a little steep. The beds were very comfortable and even our 8 year old was satisfied with the beds and he is usually very hard to please :) The house was well equipped, had everything that we needed and the bathrooms were a good size with great showers. The house was spacious and had plenty of storage to hide our cases and pack away our clothes. Overall a great week and we have already booked for next year.

Our second stay at Pondokkie, a real home from home, we love it there. We don't think we could find a more welcoming comfortable place to stay,it's perfect.Dogs loved it too. Thank you Paul and Jo for sharing your lovely home.

We spent five days at Pondokkie and absolutely loved it there. The house was very clean, quiet and well equipped. The best part was sitting on the terrace or in the reading room and gazing at the view of the sea and landscape which was stunning. There was a beautiful garden and good garden furniture with comfortable seat cushions. We only ate in the dining room once as we were lucky with the weather, but it had a large table with plenty of space. The beds were comfortable and the shower was good. There was plenty of space for us with two teenagers and my mother. Good WiFi! There were even body boards and extra wellies. It was a steep but manageable 15 minute walk to the town via the coastal path. Polstreath Beach was a favourite with a steep descent via steps, which was definitely worth it. The owners were nearby and very helpful, but never intrusive. They left us a delicious cream tea on our arrival. I highly recommend this property.

Great family home with stunning sea views. Plenty of space in house for whole family and friends. Fully equipped kitchen and nice additional considerations made for dogs. Delicious Cornish welcome pack and owners next door were extremely helpful.

Pondokkie was as it said the village was nice , eating out had to be booked due to covid , fish and chip shops closed at 8.00pm. We had a very enjoyable holiday , walking to and from Pondokkie could take you about 15 mins.

Perfect views, delightful place to stay, we will be back.

For dog owners this is the dream holiday, towels, blankets, bowls etc all supplied.

The hosts were wonderful.

A lovely property for rain or shine, excellent for families. The hosts couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. Definitely on the 'go back to' list

Wow ?? What a place! This house is amazing and certainly a five star accommodation.
The dogs loves the outdoor space and we loved the little snug / library room upstairs for peace and tranquility. Great location and friendly hosts.
We enjoyed it so much we’ve already reserved for next year.

We have just returned from a short break at Pondokkie situated on the hillside above Mevagissey with views across to Chapel Point. A car is essential to get around. We had a comfortable stay with very pleasant owners on site if needed. We can recommend.

Wonderful stay at Pondokkie. Fabulous views and amazingly warm and cosy property. We can’t wait to book again for next year.

Pondokkie is a fantastic house for families with teenagers. We all had our own space but also lots of space to be a family. The house is comfortable and provides everything you need for a home from home holiday. The views are amazing. Mevagissey is a nice traditional Cornish fishing village. We would all strongly recommend. The owners are the most delightful people; so generous and kind. They really care and help with plans for the day and night. Thank you!!!

Lovely house with sea views over the roofs of Mevagissey. Owners live next door and cannot do enough to ensure a wonderful stay. Fine terrace overlooking sloping garden. Dog friendly.

Pondokkie is an absolute delight and a credit to the owners Jo and Paul who were always on hand if needed but never imposing. The house is so comfortable and we immediately felt relaxed given the homely feel to the property. Views are memorable and location also excellent. We liked it so much we’ve already planned our return visit.

We loved it, have been visiting Mevagissey for many years and it was nice to find a a holiday let where we could take our dogs, have off road parking and such a warm welcoming place to stay with a great view. We would love to return.

We've had an amazing stay in Pondokkie. The house is lovely, with everything that you could ever need. And what has topped it off is seeing those stunning sea views every morning over breakfast. Tilly has loved running around the beautiful garden playing with a ball!

House was lovely and comfortable and in a quiet location. Great sea views. Walk back up hill takes about 10-15 mins for a relatively fit person. Owner who lives next door very welcoming and helpful.
