Holidays in Mevagissey

Stay in Mevagissey and you’ll be perfectly placed to explore all that the south coast of Cornwall has to offer. Take a ferry trip to Fowey, visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan or spend a day at the beach at the nearby Pentewan Sands.

Best known for its harbour and fishing boats, Mevagissey still boasts as being part of Cornwall’s thriving fishing industry. Fresh fish can even be bought from the hut on the harbour wall, located a short stroll from the village aquarium, once the lifeboat station. Wander around the harbour area, with its narrow streets, fascinating shops and galleries and recall its smuggling history, or just relax in the bars and restaurants and coves and on nearby beaches.

There is a ferry boat which runs from end of April to beginning of October from Mevagissey to Fowey three or four times a day (don’t miss the return journey!) – journey time about 35 minutes. You may be lucky and spot some playful dolphins!

Thank you - great location - do need to be fit to get around in Mevagissey. All the local shops have great people. So much to look at. The apartment is wonderful.

Lovely well equipped apartment in a beautiful location. Perfect base for exploring the south west path with the need to get in your car. Short walk into Mevagissey for pub lunches and soaking up the atmosphere around the harbour.

4th year here. Fabulous location and views. Parking space really advantageous. Comfortable, well equipped flat. Would recommend.

Amazing views from this fabulously located apartment. Well equipped and comfortable. Will definitely return as ideal location to visit Mevagissey and surrounding areas.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pencarrow in August of this year. The apartment is nicely decorated, well appointed and very clean and the view over the harbour is absolutely beautiful. Its location is great (although a tad hairy driving the car up and down the narrow road that leads to the apartment) and we loved walking down to the harbour every evening. There are lots of nice places to eat, and would recommend sharks fin, harbour tavern & she sells, the children also enjoyed ice creams from the blue hut on the harbour. We used Mevagissey as a base and visited Falmouth, Charlestown, St Austell and Newquay during our stay, we also took the ferry from Mevagissey to Fowey and were lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins that got very close to the boat. We loved Mevagissey and will definitely return.

A fabulous week at Pencarrow, which didn’t disappoint. Fabulous location with view over the harbour, but as others have mentioned, not for anybody with difficulty walking due to the steep incline.

Mevagissey is a delight as is Fowey.

Property is truly lovely and well maintained. Thoroughly recommend!

Pencarrow was as described, very clean and very well equipped and in such a good location (if you don't mind a bit of a steep walk) overlooking the town and harbour, it was also a plus that both bedrooms had their own ensuite as well as it's own parking space at the front of the property. The Welcome Goodies were a nice touch as well as the flowers in the vase on the table. Driving through the town to get to the apartment was a bit of an experience as it's one way for part of it then two ways which can lead to a bit of fun when someone is coming the other way as the road does tend to narrow quite a bit. The view from the property is stunning whether it's early in the morning for a sunrise or into the evening when the sun is setting (you may even catch a glimpse of dolphins in the bay if there are no boats about), all in all it's a lovely place to stay.

We had an amazing weeks stay at Pencarrow. The property is very spacious, comfortable, with high quality appliances, and very well equipped. It was a huge bonus to have 2 bathrooms, one with a bath/shower, and the other with a large shower which had good pressure/temperature, both of which were of high quailty and very clean. The apartment is situated at the top of the hill, and has amazing views over the harbour from both the lounge area, and front bedroom. The walk back up the hill was bit of a trek, and would suggest anyone with mobility issues may find this a struggle. Having spent a week in "Meva" the biggest bonus was the parking space for the property, which is a premium in the town !!. But overall an amazing week, lots of good food ( and beer..), fab restaurants, takeaways, and very relaxing

Pencarrow is a great place to stay in Mevagissey, which is delightful and full of great eating and shopping options. Accommodates 4 adults easily and the views are fabulous, even on overcast rainy days. Parking is easy but the hill walk up from the village, whilst easy if you’re fit, would challenge anyone who struggles with walking. Lots of places to visit in the area including The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project. The ferry service to Fowey ends in October which is a great shame.

Great place to relax and take in the beautiful views of the sea, enjoyable walks and fishing, the harbour being a stone throw away is very convenient, the shops are very close by, excellent restaurants and cafes and the best chip shop!!

3rd year at Pencarrow, always enjoy it here, great views even over a stormy and rainy Mevagissey! Well equipped, clean and comfortable. Usually a fantastic welcome tray , disappointed not the same this year due to an oversight. Sad about price Increase for next year so won't be able stay here again

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are glad to hear that you enjoyed another lovely holiday here, though we were sorry about that oversight with the welcome items and sad to hear that you will not be returning to this property due to that price increase. We make recommendations to property owners around the pricing, but the final decision on the increase was the owners. We will be sure to pass on your feedback to them. Thanks for your comments and we hope that we will still see you back in Cornwall in the future, whether that be here or a different property. Tanya, Customer Services

We had such an amazing stay at pencarrow! The apartment was extremely practical and comfortable. It had all the mod cons, literally everything you might need. One of the most important things to me is cleanliness, I really am fussy, but pencarrow was immaculate, couldn’t fault. The view was spectacular! The welcome pack was a lovely little extra also. We honestly had the most wonderful stay, would recommend, and would definitely stay there again.

Enjoyed great weather and super views of the bay.Lovely harbour village, good food.Pencarrow perched on the hill so you can enjoy watching life going on in the bay below. You need to be able to get up and down the hill so mobility important (unless you take the car each time!).The apartment is modern and comfortable, each room having an en suite.A great base to enjoy Cornwall.

We had an amazing week based at Ocean Heights! The location & views were excellent & waking up to harbour/sea views & the morning sun streaming in the windows was lovely! Local walks were also great with much to see & explore, in particular the ferry to Fowey! There were good beaches local as well - Gorran Haven in particular was a great place to spend a day!

This is a fabulous apartment, very well equipped and comfortable. The location is fantastic, the view into the harbour and across the sea to the other bays is lovely. The coast path is opposite and is a 10 minute walk (downhill) into the village or 10 minutes in the other direction to Portmellon beach.

We had a lovey stay at Pencarrow the end of May. The flat was very clean and furnished well. The drive up from the village to the parking space was tricky as it is two way and very narrow. However, once the car is parked the view is amazing.

We are glad that you enjoyed it there. Like most traditional fishing villages here in Cornwall, they were not designed for modern day vehicles, so many of the roads here are quite narrow. With a bit of patience though, it is not a problem, and we are glad that you agreed, was well worth it for a lovely property and those beautiful views. Tanya, Customer Services

We very much enjoyed Pencarrow. On arrival there is a very spacious hall which is ideal for walking boots etc. The open plan living area worked well for us...the kitchen area was really well equipped and obviously the lounge has a beautiful view. There is a good sized seating/table in between the kitchen and lounge The 2 double bedrooms had very comfortable beds and plenty of storage/coat hangers. Both with good sized ensuites. The apartment was lovely and warm and as is normal with Aspects there were some welcome goodies, milk in the fridge to start is off. The flowers on the table were a lovely touch too. Spotlessly clean. A parking space outside is a bonus in Mevagissey. Can't say anything negative at all about Pencarrow and we would always use Aspects rather than larger national companies.

Everything about this wonderful apartment met our expectations and beyond. We arrived to a fabulous Welcome Pack and smell of beautiful flowers and the Aspect Team had left a birthday card and gifts. Very thoughtful.

Pencarrow is fantastically situated with far reaching views out to sea but also great to sit and watch the fishing boats coming and going into Mevagissey Harbour. The whole property was sparkling clean and with everything one could wish for and bags more. The attention to detail has surpassed everything we had in mind. We have stayed in many places over the years and this by far exceeds them all. We shall definitely book Pencarrow again.

Amazing views, comfortable flat and a very attractive little town.

Pencarrow is a perfect apartment to unwind with an amazing view, wouldn't recommend to older customers as it is all up hill. It has every comfort you could ask for. Amazing view from main bedroom just pull the curtains open & watch the fisherman arrive back to Mevagissey. We always use Aspects & we have never been disappointed, always happy to help.

2nd year at Pencarrow. Absolutely love this place. Comfortable, well equipped and fabulous views.

Absolute amazing location and the views were just incredible, it was hard to leave! The apartment is fantastic and so well equipped. Having 2 bathrooms was a real bonus and everything was clean, well kept and and of good quality.

Well appointed apartment in a good location. Lovely view.

This is a lovely property with absolutely fabulous sea views even from the living room . Very modern & well appointed too.

Lovely property, the views and location instantly makes you feel your on holiday. Spacious, well equipped apartment, finished to a high standard

We stayed at Pencarrow in early June and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It's in a lovely spot over looking the harbour (it is a climb up, but we were fine with that), the fittings (kitchen, bathrooms etc) are all very good quality and there are plenty of kitchen utensils. All in all, a lovely apartment.

Beautiful location with stunning views across the bay. Apartment was furnished to a high standard with everything you could need. A perfect choice for two couples sharing with two lovely en-suite bedrooms. Plenty of local bars and restaurants all within a few minutes walk, albeit uphill on the way back.

Our second stay at Penncrow just as amazing as the first. If you’re okay walking up the hill this is the perfect location out of the way but only five minutes walk from town. And you get the best views of Mevagissey harbour.

Amazing view and location. Lots of great, thoughtful touches and very well equipped. Perfect base to explore Cornwall and also a lovely, comfortable apartment to stay in.

This flat was outstanding, brilliantly located and very well kitted out. Showers, linen, towels, and general fittings and lighting excellent. However the beds and their comfort fell very short of this high standard. The large king size bed had a faulty uncomfortable mattress on one side, and the other bedroom had a bad damp problem which smelt, and which stained the bedding and made the bed damp where it was pushed against the wall. We also found the two lounge sofa's quite uncomfortable if relaxing on them in the evening after a long day of exploring. Otherwise, this is a great flat, but there are a couple of things to sort to bring it up to the standard it appears to give from the website.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

It really is lovely isn't it? And those views….. We were sorry to hear about the issue with one of the mattresses and damp within the property. The owners have confirmed with us that they have now checked this and have ordered a replacement mattress. They have a company attending to investigate what has caused that damp and will of course get that addressed following the advice from them. Thank you also for your feedback on the sofas; these can be quite subjective things and as we haven't had this mentioned before, we will monitor feedback for now and make the owner aware of your feedback. When you stay in a property for a few days or more, you get to experience things in a different way than we do, so we really do appreciate the feedback; it is very helpful. Thank you again and we hope to see you back soon. Tanya, Customer Services UPDATE: ALL MATTRESSES HAVE NOW BEEN REPLACED (APRIL 2021)

Perfect place to stay, everything you need nothing has been forgotten about. The view is amazing, can’t wait to return.

Loved this property. Amazing views, clean, comfortable , well equipped. Excellent service from Aspects

This is a modern well decorated and furnished ground floor flat, probably the best equipped flat we have ever stayed in, The views over the harbour and coast are superb and Mevagissy is a lovely place which is still an active fishing port. We had a great week staying there only marred by loud footfall noise coming from an upstairs flat.

A lovely apartment in a fabulous location. Great views and well equipped.

Very pleasant place to stay. Nice to wake up to the sea every morning even from your bedroom window. Some great walks in the surrounding area. Well equipped little apartment.

Pencarrow is amazing loved every minute. Mevagissey is also an amazing place and aspects holidays were top notch. Thanks guys

Wonderful property with a stunning view; lovely walks from the door and so close to Mevagissey. Would recommend ??

Pencarrow was a wonderful place to stay. Comfortable, quiet with the best views over Mevagissey harbour. Your worries would drift away as you watched the fishing boats come and go.

I lovely place, outstanding view. A clean and well appointed property, a great base for a family holiday. We had a lovely time . Thank you

We would recommend this property for fit people only, the hill climb can be daunting !

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are glad to hear that you liked Pencarrow. Being in such a fantastic location, perched above the harbour to enjoy those spectacular views, as you rightly say, involves a bit of a climb if you are on foot. There are also the 23 external steps up to the property which we detail; so for those with limited mobility, or potentially if you are here with small children, please do contact us before booking, so that we can advise. We hope that you agree that the climb is worth it once you enter this lovely property and see those views. Tanya, Customer Services

Great location with good view of harbour, away from the crowds. Can be a tricky drive up narrow streets to the appartment. Clean and well equipped. Aspects were very efficient..

The views from Pencarrow are second to none. The moment we arrived we were blown away by the scenery. The property itself was clean, well equipped and very comfortable; almost loathing to leave the bed in the mornings... ...almost. There are some beautiful walks along the coastal path and, if you're feeling particularly fit, some challenging runs to be had! The locals are very friendly and good for a laugh especially those down at The Ship Inn at the bottom of the hill, where the food is pretty good as well. A huge thank you to everyone that dealt with my booking a Aspects, you made it all extremely easy even though I had some unusual requests. We'll definitely be heading back to Mevagissey in the future.

Loved our stay at Pencarrow, the view is fantastic, the price was good, would definitely return.

I would highly recommend this apartment fully equipped spotlessly clean and comfortable superb view from the lounge and bedroom. You do need to be fairly fit though to walk up the hill from the harbour to the apartment. Would definitely return.

Pencarrow is a perfect location for comfort style and location. My family and I had a fantastic break at Mevagissy where Pencarrow was our base for some lovely family activities from building a jigsaw to enjoying a breakfast feast! I found it ideally situated with a beautiful view and a short walk to the harbour.

Such a restful place and a great view.. Could sit and watch the sea for ages...

The property has a lovely view overlooking the harbour of Mevagissey and easy access for walks around the area. Property is small but well presented. Don't bring too much with you! Recommend local places to eat in the area but book in advance.
