Holidays in Mevagissey

Stay in Mevagissey and you’ll be perfectly placed to explore all that the south coast of Cornwall has to offer. Take a ferry trip to Fowey, visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan or spend a day at the beach at the nearby Pentewan Sands.

Best known for its harbour and fishing boats, Mevagissey still boasts as being part of Cornwall’s thriving fishing industry. Fresh fish can even be bought from the hut on the harbour wall, located a short stroll from the village aquarium, once the lifeboat station. Wander around the harbour area, with its narrow streets, fascinating shops and galleries and recall its smuggling history, or just relax in the bars and restaurants and coves and on nearby beaches.

There is a ferry boat which runs from end of April to beginning of October from Mevagissey to Fowey three or four times a day (don’t miss the return journey!) – journey time about 35 minutes. You may be lucky and spot some playful dolphins!

We have stayed in Dolphin Cottage 4 times now and have booked again for next year. The cottage feels like home. Spacious, clean, tidy and well appointed. Great location close to harbour, pubs, restaurants, and shops. Highly recommended.

A lovely, home from home cottage set in a perfect location. Everything you need is provided. This is our third holiday here.

Great location and a well equipped lovely cottage, watch out for the narrow entrance and recommend paying for parking in one of the many car parks in Mevagissey!

Fantastic house in a fantastic location. Everything was very clean and tidy.

Dolphin cottage was a perfect base for our family holiday in Mevagissey. All of the rooms were spacious and comfortable and beautifully decorated.

Having milk and tea in the house at arrival was a lovely touch.

The entrance to the car park is tight, but we were expecting that and it wasn't a problem.

We would definitely come back to Dolphin cottage.

It's a very well placed house that was comfy and roomy. The beds were comfy and full size. Kitchen was great with everything you need. Took 5mins or so to walk down the very steep road into Mevagissey. Great space to pack away all your clothing. Bathroom is small but everything was working fine including the shower.l would recommend this property. The recycling bags are very poor. Too small. Broken and certainly not waterproof. Improvement regarding the recycling please.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are glad that you enjoyed your time here at Dolphin Cottage. Thanks for letting us know about the recycling bags, we will pass that on to the property owner. Most of the traditional Cornish fishing villages are known for the steep hills that come with such a great location, so it is something that is not specific to Dolphin Cottage, but something to bear in mind when booking any property in such a location. The bookings team are always happy to answer any questions and discuss the suitability of any property before booking, so please do not hesitate to contact us. Tanya, Customer Services

Lovely cottage, with everything you need including outside space and parking. 2 large bedrooms and a snug bathroom. Loved Mevagissey and will return

Comfy bed, well furnished, great location, good parking space (yes a bit tight as already warned, but no probs for us in a qashqai). A few minutes walk from harbour, would definitely return.

Lovely comfortable house in a fantastic location!

This is our second visit to this cottage as it is ideally situated, just a short walk to the harbour. Clean, tidy and with everything provided that you could possibly need.

Excellent accommodation and location would recommend to anyone

The cottage was so well equipped, well organised and clean that it was very easy to settle in. It was so beautifully decorated and with finishing touches like the dog towels and treats, it made us feel really welcome.

We loved the cottage. It was clean, tidy and everything had been thoughtfully provided, including a welcome pack for us and dog biscuits for my little dog which she very much appreciated. The customer service at Aspects is exemplary too, as we had occasion to call them as the sat nav was sending us round in circles!!

Comfortable cottage with nice outside space in the heart of Mevagissey. Easy booking & access to the cottage. Highly recommend.

A fantastic well equipped cottage. Spotlessly clean . A short walk from the harbour. Great owners who were extremely helpful. Highly recommended

Great location, near to harbour and village. Lovely spacious cottage. Well presented and appointed. Beautiful welcome package. Loved it so much have booked for same time next year.

Lovely Cottage. Excellent location near to harbour and sites. Dog friendly with bowls, biscuits left at cottage. Small enclosed garden which is enough with garden furniture. Only downside, very very tight space to get into parking space - need to be really careful !!

This was one of our best holidays ever. Great location and a lovely cottage. Thank you.

Beautiful, spotless cottage. The cleaners do a super job, and the owners ensure a holiday cottage that is cozy and welcoming. Lovely new garden furniture this year too. Aspects offered reliable, easy booking and checked that we were happy once we had arrived. We absolutely love our week in Cornwall every year, and Dolphin Cottage makes it perfect. We cannot wait to visit again next year! Thank you

Dolphin Cottage is great! Perfect location (although up hill and little roads but do-able if you go slow!). Amazing to have a parking space to close to the harbour. The cottage was perfect - bedrooms great size, amazingly clean. Lovely touch to have the dog towels and biscuits!

Lovely little cottage just off the harbour. Clean and adequately equipped and the bed was very comfy. Came with a parking space which is always good. Can recommend the scones in Martin's Bakery and the fish and chips just off the harbour!

Fantastic accommodation in the pretty harbour village of Mevagissey. Great location, clean and tidy house. Perfect for our family of four and dog, who appreciated the safe and enclosed outdoor space. Beds super comfy and towels thick and fluffy!

Dolphin Cottage is a very conveniently located, warm and comfy property. Minutes from the beautiful harbour through the back gate. Spacious and bright kitchen/diner and enclosed courtyard ideal for dogs. Really thoughtful to find dog towels and dog bowls at the cottage. Really comfy beds. Take care when entering the car park, the entrance is very narrow although we soon got the hang of it. Once inside, it is easy to manouevre and park. Mevagissey has a fantastic little place on the harbour selling fresh fish, a really good green grocer, book shop and convenience store, not to mention the array of food shops and local art shops. We particularly recommend Olivia's sandwich hut and Philip Gardner's pottery is well worth a visit, selling beautiful handmade, coastal themed pottery.

Lovely warm cottage. Great location. Very good for dogs as courtyard is fully enclosed so no risk of getting out. Lovely soft bed in a big room too. It’s a steep walk up a hill, so not for anyone who would struggle and parking is tight. We opted for paid parking. Which isn’t expensive or far to walk. We have a VW golf and was nervous. Some bigger cars and vans could do it so it’s not impossible, but the risk would be high. Car park was cheaper than the risk of paying excess. Be careful of 1 way system during Covid. If you pass the road you can’t come back into village until 5pm unless you drive 6 miles round trip. There’s no diversions so may be a quicker way. But We parked up and walked back into village while the 1 way was in place.

Nice property very central to Mevagissey so perfect for a little stroll down the hill to the harbour. People had complained about parking, it really was not an issue for us and we have a fairly large car being a 4x4. We would recommend the property as we had a nice break away

Accomodation and location good for Mevigessey. Take note of vehicle width on entry as you do have to turn to get on to access ramp which makes it a tight for anthing wider than 2.1m. (have to pull in wing mirrors).

Easywalk down hill and into Harbour area and easy access onto Coastal Path for walkers.

Perfect location, very comfortable and cosy cottage VERY tight entrance to parking at cottage we have stayed before and know our car well but we saw others have scrapes getting on or out. Extremely well equipped, mostly clean and modern but bathroom slight let down and shower isn’t worth bothering with as no pressure lovely bath though. Overall would recommend and stay again

Thank you for taking the time to send in your comments. It is a very narrow entrance to the parking, so we try to make this as clear as possible within the description so that guests know what to expect before arrival; we are sorry if this had not been what was expected from that. We have since spoken with the property owners about the shower pressure and they have informed us that they are investigating the possibility of a new water tank to help improve water pressure though we can't say when this may installed at this stage. Thank you again for your helpful comments and we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your time here. Tanya, Customer Services

The cottage was the perfect place to stay for our family holiday in Mevagissey. The cottage had a really nice feel and was the perfect base, providing everything we needed for us to enjoy our time there.

The roads to the cottage are a little challenging but with care can be navigated.

Will look at this property again for future stays.
