Falmouth

£554 - £1628 per week

The Anchorage is a beautiful, traditional cottage in a quiet street with exceptional harbour views, but still only moments from the bustle of Falmouth's award winning old high street. It offers luxurious accommodation with stylish furnishings and a chic, modern kitchen. A glorious bolthole in which to truly kick back and relax after a busy day exploring. The contemporary interior complements the traditional cottage wonderfully, creating a tranquil ambience so you can really get away from it all.

The outdoor areas are perfect spaces to relax with a coffee and a good book before starting your day's adventures. The Anchorage is hard to leave but if you can tear yourself away, Falmouth is just a short walk away with an exciting mix of shops and restaurants to enjoy. The nearby pier provides boat trips out to sea or along the River Fal or the Helford Passage. The Anchorage is the ideal base from which to pack a picnic and spend the day at one of Falmouth's stunning beaches just relaxing or perhaps hiring a paddleboard or kayak. There are often local festivals to join in with, such as the famous sea shanty festival, or the popular oyster festival for a unique Falmouth experience.

We had a fantastic two week stay at The Anchorage. There are great views from the front bedrooms and the house is a short invigorating walk from the town centre. The kitchen is spacious and comfortable. Parking on the street was easy because the tourist season hadn't yet started so loading and unloading was straightforward. Falmouth is a vibrant place with many independent shops and restaurants. The Anchorage is a great cottage to explore this beautiful area of Cornwall.

March 2024

We had a really lovely stay at The Anchorage whilst visiting our youngest daugther who lives and works in Falmouth. The house was very warm and cosy, quiet and private and with a huge amount of space. Layout was excellent. Views were great and we were always able to park opposite the house, helped by the time of year no doubt. And being able to stroll out from the cottage without taking the car to everything Falmouth has to offer was wonderful. The Boat House pub a few doors away was the best pit stop everytime! We always try and book somewhere with a log burner especially as we travel to the UK coast during the winter months so this was lovely to have. Thank you for the welcome pack of tea/coffee/milk too. This was by far one of the best self catering properties we have stayed in and there have been a few over the years! The Anchorage team were extremely helpful and always available if needed.

Holidays in Falmouth

Holidays in Falmouth are made for lazy beach days, relaxed wanderings down cobbled streets, and easy access to some of Cornwall’s most fascinating historical buildings – not to mention a coastline that can easily be confused with the Med.

Situated on the coast, Falmouth benefits from four beautiful beaches, with many more nearby, including the much-loved Blue Flag beach, Gyllyngvase. The vibrant seaside town is also home to a selection of tropical gardens and a plethora of attractions to keep you entertained throughout your stay.

During your holiday in Falmouth, why not leave the car behind and experience some ‘car-free’ days out, enjoying transport links from the town by bus, rail, and even by boat! Visitors can take pleasure cruises around the Fal estuary or along the beautiful Helford River. Take the ferry to Flushing or St Mawes and experience the beautiful scenery along the way – it really is the only way to travel.

Home to the third deepest natural harbour in the world, it will be of little surprise that you can also enjoy many different water-based activities from Falmouth including sailing, sea safaris, and watersports – it really is a boater’s paradise!

Falmouth also benefits from a jam-packed events roster including music and food festivals as well as a week-long, town-wide celebration of all things Falmouth.

If you’re bringing the pooch with you, you’ll find lots of dog-friendly outings around Falmouth, as well as some fantastic eateries that welcome dogs and their well-behaved owners.

Did you know...

Pendennis Castle was built by Henry VIII to protect the Carrick Roads from invasion!

Beaches in Falmouth

If a Cornish stay isn’t complete without a beach day or two, Falmouth is a must-visit with its four beautiful beaches and stunning surrounding coastline.

Gyllyngvase beach – Perhaps Falmouth’s most popular beach, Gylly beach is home to everything you could want from a hazy day in the sand. Consistently flat waters provide the perfect conditions for SUPs while a café and restaurant on the beach offer beachgoers the chance to refresh and refuel without leaving the white gold sands behind.

Castle beach – Just down from Pendennis point you’ll find the aptly named Castle beach, which offers young and intrepid adventurers plenty of rockpools to explore, along with an underwater paradise for keen snorkelers.

Swanpool beach – More a cove than a beach, Swanpool mixes an idyllic setting with action-packed watersports for a fun-filled beach day whatever your beachy interests. There’s also a great little beachside café for those all-important ice creams.

Maenporth beach – Just on the edge of Falmouth lies another of South Cornwall’s most serene beaches. Flat waters, golden sand, and an award-winning restaurant all add up to an unmissable day amidst sand, sun, and sea in Falmouth.

Things to do in Falmouth

Whether you’re a water baby at heart or a seeker of culture and cuisine, there are plenty of things to add to your holiday itinerary when visiting Falmouth.

Art Galleries

Falmouth is home to an eclectic mix of art galleries, all featuring a wide variety of local and national work. Home to one of the leading art collections in Cornwall, Falmouth Art Gallery is the place to go for a rolling look at Cornish art through the ages or you can head to Beside the Wave for more contemporary exhibitions.

Shopping

After a shopping trip in Falmouth, you’ll want all highstreets to be lined with cobbles and decorated with colourful bunting – it really does set the scene for a vibrant day out! Falmouth’s shops themselves vary from big names like FatFace and Ann’s Cottage to more niche shops from intriguing antiques to everything Cornwall – perfect for your holiday memento. Oh, and if you have a sweet tooth, you’re going to want to check out Roly’s Fudge Pantry – it’s to die for!

History

A holiday in Falmouth wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Pendennis Castle and the National Maritime Museum – two of the town’s top cultural attractions. Both dive into the history of Falmouth and Cornwall with a definite nautical theme, with Pendennis Castle looking more at defence and the museum exploring the wider culture of life by the sea.

Boat Trips

When you get bored of hard ground beneath your feet, set sail up the Fal estuary or along to the Helford river on one of Falmouth’s many fantastic boat trips that vary from party boats to sea safaris to meals on keels (sorry, boat puns are a mandatory here).

Watersports

With South Cornwall’s microclimate and plenty of sheltered bays, the waters around Falmouth are known for being consistently calm, which makes them perfect for mastering your favourite sea-based activity. Try your hand at everything from kayaking to SUPing, swimming to sailing as you swap dry land for the thrill of the Cornish waters.

Walks

River walks, coastal strolls and countryside ambles… there’s no limit to what your feet can discover with the many breath-taking walks in and around Falmouth. Take to the South West Coast Path for unbeatable coastal views (and plenty of opportunities for a cheeky dip in the sea) or take your walk riverside for an idyllic escape to nature. Falmouth’s also home to an impressive collection of gardens, each with their own intriguing collection of paths to explore.

Princess Pavilion

This fantastic theatre complex offers a year-round program of live music, entertainment and theatrical performances. Set in the stunning Gyllyngdune Gardens, you can pop along to take in the beautiful scenery and enjoy a drink and some food in the Garden Room Café. Find out more about the pavilion and what’s on here >

Dining Out

Falmouth is quickly becoming one of Cornwall’s ultimate foodie hotspots thanks to a veritable smorgasbord of top eateries and superb pubs and bars, many with incredible sea views and welcoming dogs. Mexican, Texan, African, Cornish, Caribbean, and vegan, it doesn’t matter what kind of cuisine you fancy, Falmouth’s got it all!

Dog-friendly Falmouth

While the four main beaches in Falmouth all operate under seasonal restrictions (dogs aren’t allowed on the beaches 1st May – 30th September, 10am – 6pm), there are plenty of pup-friendly places for you and the dog to get your beach fix near Falmouth.

Dog-friendly beaches

Polgwidden Cove – Accessed through the beautiful Trebah gardens, Polgwidden is a lovely shingle cove that’s dog-friendly throughout the year. If you don’t fancy walking, you can always rent a boat and sail there as many of the boat hires in Falmouth welcome salty sea dogs!

Sunny Cove – Perhaps the closest dog-friendly beach to Falmouth, Sunny Cove provides a perfectly sheltered place for a dog nap in the sand. It’s situated between Swanpool and Maenporth just off the coast path, making it a great destination for a dog walk. It is worth noting that the cove is popular with naturists so swimming costumes are optional!

Dog-friendly pubs and restaurants

Stable Pizza – Combining pizza, cider, and harbour views, Stable in Falmouth is a popular haunt for good reason. Dogs are welcome on the ground floor as well as outside so the whole family can enjoy a meal out together.

Five Degrees West – A pub that specialises in pizza and pints, Five Degrees is always a firm favourite with those who want to dine with their pup in tow. Pop in for a quiet drink or a slap-up meal, the choice is yours!

The Boathouse – Claiming the title of ‘pub with the best sea view in Falmouth’, The Boathouse has been welcoming guests for over 300 years, which is perhaps how they’ve perfected their easy-going offering. The menu might change with the season (and the chef’s fancy), but the friendly, dog-welcoming vibes remain the same.

What's on in Falmouth

The town has a rich tradition of hosting a year-round programme of events, from sailing regattas to live music and an abundance of food and drink festivals. You don’t have to wait for specific seasons either, as Falmouth enjoys plenty of markets and live music throughout the year.

Falmouth Spring Festival

Are you ready to paint the town yellow? Every year, the Falmouth Spring Festival celebrates the start of this blooming wonderful season with a line-up of fantastic events and a tradition that sees the town’s window displays reflect the daffodils that decorate the fields around.

Falmouth Food Festival

Filling Falmouth with tempting treats from a variety of local vendors and producers, Falmouth Food Festival is the place to be for an epic feed. Spend the day filling your bags (and bellies) with the very best grub Cornwall has to offer, while sipping Cornish ales and listening to superb musicians - it's a true feast for the senses!

International Sea Shanty Festival

This internationally popular music event brings all the foot-stomping fun of sea shanties to Falmouth as thousands of people descend to share in a festival that would make any pirate proud.

Falmouth Week

Falmouth Week isn’t just a sailing regatta, it’s a ten-day-long, town-wide celebration that features every entertainment imaginable including unmissable live music, maritime marvels, and aerial displays. Lots of the town’s shops and organisations join in, adding their fun-filled activities to the jam-packed roster.

Falmouth Oyster Festival

Bringing live music, fresh food, and a bevy of activities to the streets of Falmouth, this festival has become a tradition we just can’t do without. Celebrity chefs provide demos so you can recreate your favourite dishes at home while plenty of food and drink stalls provide you with everything you need for a true Cornish feast.

Falmouth Book Festival

You’ll want to pull your nose out of your favourite book for this one as much-loved authors, poets, and storytellers flock to Falmouth for a literary celebration like no other. A surprisingly spacious cottage just a short uphill walk from the town centre. The cottage worked really well for our group of five adults. Well equipped and nicely furnished and decorated with a coastal theme. We were able to park on the street outside, but the road is very narrow so parking could be an issue for a large vehicle.

While the property is located up a hill, we hope you agree that it is totally worth it for those amazing elevated views. It's great to hear that you always found parking on the street outside, but for guests who have concerns about parking on the road there are different car park options in Falmouth should you wish to investigate. Katy, Customer Services.

Lovely, well equipped, comfortable and spacious house a few minutes walk from the high street and some excellent restaurants. Lovely views of the estuary and Flushing. Parking is on street and the road is quite narrow but we always managed to find a space.

It's great to hear how much the whole family enjoyed your stay at The Anchorage and the space worked so well for you. As you have said, the property is not advertised as having allocated parking, but there is plenty of street parking nearby which you can utilise. For peak weeks, it is always worth investigating parking options beforehand on the local council website and looking into private parking availability. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Phoebe, Customer Services.

We stayed in the Anchorage for a week. Lovely comfortable house with fabulous views from the front. Very well equipped. Parking is on street and can be a little tricky. A short walk into town with some lovely pubs and restaurants nearby. There is quite a steep hill to tackle, but it’s well worth it.!

Fantastic holiday cottage, beautifully furnished and handy for town. Loved the pub down the road - The Boathouse. We were there for our daughter's graduation and it was an absolutely perfect place to stay. Would love to come back.

Great little spot. Large and well presented house. Parking tricky.

We thoroughly enjoyed our family holiday at The Anchorage. Situated a five minute walk away from the centre of Falmouth, this pretty property has wonderful views over the river. The property is beautifully decorated and well equipped, with plenty of space for all of the family. We appreciated the thoughtful extra touches such as the chocolate Easter eggs and biscuits that were left for us. I would thoroughly recommend this property for a peaceful, relaxing break.

Loved our stay at The Anchorage. Future visitors will not be disappointed. Thoughtful decor and planned comfort.

We had a lovely stay at the Anchorage in Falmouth for New Year. The house is beautiful, tastefully furnished and very comfortable. The location is perfect for easy walk in and out of town, and with great views of the estuary from the house itself. We enjoyed the comfortable living room with the log burner in the evenings, and the large cosy kitchen was perfect for enjoying family meals and playing board games with its warm AGA and large kitchen table. Thank you for letting us enjoy your home and for the lovely cream tea on arrival, we are looking forward to returning again soon hopefully.

Wonderful stay!! Log burner was brilliant touch to the house. Bed were comfortable in a great location and had such wonderful views. Parking was a struggle on some days but wouldn't put me off returning! Thanks Anchorage

Excellent home to stay in with amazing views from front windows loved every minute here. We stayed with our two adult children and there was space for us all to be cosy or have our own space which is very unique. We walked to beeches and pendennis castle very comfortable although the hills of Falmouth take a bit of getting used. Falmouth is a very quirky town with lots of character will definitely return

The Anchorage was a perfect base for our three generation family holiday. The building was larger than expected and the kitchen very well designed and equipped. The three double bedrooms provided ample space. Our son, his wife and baby had the main larger bedroom with en suite, perfect for their needs. The views are fabulous, although a little obscured by nearby buildings. Location is perfect with town, beaches and ferrys all within walking distance. Would highly recommend The Anchorage.

this is a fabulous cottage with wonderful views. it was comfortable for our adult family of six with three spacious bedrooms and a huge dining kitchen.

the decor and ambience of the place even caught my eye and this made it a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

Both the outside areas were great to wind down and the summer house on the odd day it rained was a great place to sit and chat.

my family and I enjoyed the Anchorage so much We will be back.

What a beautiful holiday home! Couldn’t fault it. Had everything needed. Very comfortable and spacious with lovely decor and stunning views. Would definitely recommend this property.

Great location and views. Good choice for fit and healthy people since steep hills involved walking to and fro to town (10 mins). Very nice styling, bedding, sofas etc. Anyone who is not confident on their feet could really struggle within the property walking up very steep and uneven steps to the outside terrace. Both the bathroom and downstairs toilet are very cramped so anyone on the larger size could struggle. The street parking was ok for us in July but it was before the school holidays. However, fantastic destination for access to wonderful river trips from the nearby pier. Falmouth has so much to offer and you don’t need a car to explore. Bring your ear plugs - seagulls nest on the neighbour’s roof gully.

We are glad that you enjoyed this fantastic location. Whilst there is a bit of a hill to get back from the town, it means that you are elevated enough to be able to get those lovely views and the benefit of being out of the hustle and bustle, while still close enough to be able to walk to the town and beach. We do hope that the steps to the terrace and sizes of the bathroom, toilet and ensuite were what you had expected from the photos. We try to show all of this as clearly as possible so that customers can make an informed decision on whether the property will suit all their party. We hope that you agreed that all the space on offer through the rest of the property well and truly make up for it. Tanya, Customer Services

Would not hesitate to recommend this holiday cottage as it is even better than the photos. Decorated to a high standard and very clean and comfortable. Nice to sit in front garden and watch the boats. A short walk into town with a lot of shops and cafes. We had no problem parking outside property but is was May and not high season.

We took over the booking from a relative who was unable to go. We had never been to Falmouth. We liked the location of the property - as was easy to find especially after a 7hr car journey. Instructions were very clear about the property ie key safe etc. The property was light, spacious and airy. It was so comfortable. Lovely views from the front bedrooms. Fixtures and fittings done to high standard. Fantastic location to walk into the town centre - but need to be fit with it being hilly. There was only 1 occasion that we could not get parked on the street and used the pay and display car park. We very much enjoyed our stay.

A great base for a family gathering on our short break for a birthday - cosy, close to town & beautiful views. Thanks Aspects, we will certainly recommend you & book with you again

Wonderful stay, beautifully furnished, amazing views from the cottage, very cosy, clean and so welcoming would definitely stay again. Location was excellent just a moment away from Falmouth centre.

Great property with sea views close to the centre of Falmouth. A great base for family/friends. Log burner for cold evenings and huge kitchen/dining space.

Lovely place to stay and great views! Ideal location for us to enjoy Falmouth, walking to museum, beach, shops and cafes. Would definitely return to The Anchorage. The booking was so easy when I contacted Aspects, and they were lovely, especially when requesting to extend stay due to storm Eunice - Thank you!

Perfect location for a car-free holiday - town, ferries, bus 10mins walk; train station and beach 20mins walk.

Easy access to South West Coast path, Flushing and St Mawes for walking; direct bus connections to Trebah Garden, Cornwall Seal Sanctuary and walks a bit further afield.

The property itself was light and spacious, with lovely estuary views from living room and main bedroom windows. Outside seating to the back for the summer and woodburner in living room for cozy winter evenings on the comfy sofas.

Would definitely come back.

A comfortable, well equipped home from home with wonderful views and easy access to the town.

Had a lovely stay at The Anchorage, it was the perfect place for a stay with friends. Within walking distance of all the shops and amenities. A real home from home.

Fabulous location. The view was just beautiful. Check it out at different times of the day and early evening. Lovely holiday home with everything you need for that perfect weekend break or longer holiday. Highly recommend the Anchorage. What a fabulous find. Perhaps I shouldn’t write this because it may stop us getting a wee away again in the not too distant future.

Had an excellent 2 week stay at the anchorage. Very well maintained and comfortable property.

We had a lovely holiday at the Anchorage, the property itself is lovely and with beautiful views. We did have a few minor issues such as the standard of the clean prior to our arrival but the Aspects team were helpful and did resolve the issue.

Great location just be aware you cannot always park outside the property but will stay find a space. Lovely views with private if somewhat steep steps in back garden. Lovely inside and everything works.

Very well equipped holiday home, spacious bedrooms although parking is a nightmare on the street of the property. Lovely views from bedroom windows.

Fantastic location, brilliant home from home and perfect for our family. Thank you for a great stay!

A lovely stay at The Anchorage. Nicely decorated, homely feel and lovely views. A short walk into town. We all really enjoyed Falmouth - we will be back again.

Excellent location. Very comfortable furnishings. Great kitchen appliances and good size dining room. Overall superb experience. Would definitely re book.

Gorgeous cottage, spacious, beautifully decorated and well equipped with lovely outside eating & relaxing areas. Good location only 5 mins walk into town and harbour. 15 walk mins to beach.

A wonderful place that exceeded all our expectations. The views were phenomenal and super close to the town centre for walking and some nearby pubs and restaurants. Will definitely be returning.

Lovely property, great view, highly recommended ??

Lovely house and great break. Really like Falmouth

Fabulous property with sea views. Bright, airy and well appointed. Quiet location but literally a 5 minute walk to the centre of Falmouth. Parking is not guaranteed, however we did manage to park outside most of the time or spaces could be found in nearby streets. Would highly recommend and would stay again.
