Book

Gunvor Cottage is a gorgeous thatched cottage, beautifully renovated with elegant furnishings and quirky touches. It offers two en suite bedrooms upstairs, both with stunning views across the beach and Coverack from their traditional shuttered, sash windows. The open plan living space downstairs is a fusion of traditional, historical and modern, including delightful additions of timber from the original cottage. Enjoy breakfast at the dining table and take in the ever changing views of the sea, or relax at the kitchen island, raising a glass of something chilled while chatting about your day's adventures in this pretty fishing village and beyond. Gunvor Cottage offers a real magical break away in a beautiful part of Cornwall.

Underfloor heating throughout the cottage will keep your toes cosy after a day at the beach. Or in the colder months, snuggle up on the comfortable sofa and bask in the warmth of the woodburner, which sits in the inglenook fireplace which incorporates a huge ship's beam. Or cook up a storm in the beautiful well equipped kitchen. The cottage is named after the barque "Gunvor" wrecked in fog at Black Head, south west of Coverack on 6th April 1912. Miraculously all crew were saved, along with the life buoy, which was given to the lady who owned the cottage at the time, as she took in many of the crew. The cottage didn't have a name at the time as so has been called Gunvor Cottage ever since. Walking enthusiasts and adventure lovers are offered a wealth of exploration opportunities from the property, which is also perfectly positioned for a traditional family beach holiday. Free vineyard tour at Polgoon on remaining February bookings, available Saturday's, Thursday's or Friday's.

Holidays in Coverack

Located on the Lizard Peninsula, Coverack is a small fishing village steeped in history, with its harbour dating back to 1724. Though the cove itself is sheltered, the area was once notorious for shipwrecks due to the Manacles Reef just a few miles along the coast. Today, the village is a calm and peaceful haven, perfect for a Cornish holiday.

Visit Coverack and you can spend your days meandering through the traditional harbour town, enjoying food from one of the restaurants or cafes, relaxing on the beach, enjoying coastal walks or simply soaking up the seaside views.

Protected from the south westerly winds, Coverack is a fantastic location to try a range of watersports, including stand up paddleboarding, kayaking and windsurfing. If you’re new to these activities, consider booking lessons, or if you’re more experienced, you hire equipment in the village.

Did you know...

in Cornish, Coverack means 'cove of the stream'.

Things to do in Coverack

Coverack Beach

Enjoy the small sandy and pebbly beach, which is life guarded during the summer season, and allows dogs year round (they must be kept on leads during the summer months). Coverack beach is popular with families and is ideal for swimming and rock-pooling.

Watersports

For the more adventurous, Coverack has its own windsurfing centre where you can take lessons and courses in windsurfing. The conditions in Coverack are among the best for windsurfing in Cornwall. Or, why not hire a stand up paddle board or kayak from the centre and experience the bay from a completely different angle?

Alternatively, some choose to take the adventures below water; due to the many shipwrecks off the coast, the area is popular with divers who wish to explore the area under the sea.

Walking

With easy access onto the South West Coast Path, Coverack is popular with walkers. Head North towards Porthhallow, and South towards Cadgwith. Whichever direction you choose to walk, you'll be treated to stunning sea views.

Food and Drink

There are a selection of places to eat and drink in Coverack, including the local pub, The Paris Hotel, named after the ship which ran aground in 1899; The Lifeboat House which serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and take-away food, with the main focus being fish; the restaurant at The Bay Hotel serving a selection of fresh, local food and a selection of smaller cafes serving teas, coffees, cakes and ice creams.

Very comfortable cottage with excellent facilities in a beautiful and peaceful location. Service from both the owner and Aspects were first class making for a very relaxing and stress-free holiday. Will certainly be booking again in 2024.

A wonderful week at Gunvor Cottage, beautiful location and the most amazing cottage. We will be back.

Love Coverack, beautiful location, Been staying in Coverack since 2009, some years visiting twice.

This is a stunning cottage in a fantastic position, the views from both bedrtooms and living area are unbeatable. Very well equipped and well decorated throughout. A great escape destination.

This was our second stay at the beautiful Gunvor Cottage. The cottage is so well equiped, clean & comfortable. We had a wonderful relaxing week. The weather was really good so we had quite a few beach days. We absolutely love Coverack & Gunvor Cottage.

We absolutely loved our stay at Gunvor cottage and would love to return again! The location was superb and there was some lovely cafes in Coverack to visit. The cottage itself was well equipped, plenty of soft cosy towels and had one of the most comfiest beds I’ve stayed in. There was everything we needed and more, including a lovely cupboard full of books, dvds, board games and a small train track set which my 3YO loved. The welcome basket was a nice touch and much appreciated, thank you!

A perfect stay in Gunvor cottage! The kitchen had everything you needed, the house was immaculate and the welcome pack, flowers and bath robes were such a nice touch. Coverack is beautiful and we have stayed so many times, it has a pub, two coffee shops and a short drive or coastal walk to Roskillys which serves amazing breakfasts and lunches and ice cream. We would definitely recommend Guvnor cottage as a perfect 2 bedroom cottage. Thank you for another wonderful stay in Coverack!

We have stayed at Gunvor several times and have pre-booked for next year - that says it all.

Our second spring stay in lovely Gunvor Cottage perfectly situated in a small, traditional friendly village. The cottage is stylish and cosy, perfect for 2 adults with easy close on street parking out of peak season. The views from the front windows are a real bonus, ever changing tide, colours and sky.

We enjoyed exploring the Lizard, Tin coast, Wheal Coates and Godrevy and enjoyed a boat trip on the Helford River followed by a gentle stroll round beautiful, spring flower filled Glendurgan gardens. The weather was mixed but did not detract for our stay, on the one very wet day we enjoyed a tasty, authentic Thai meal at Jumanjy, highly recommend.

Am sure we will return.

Always a good service from Aspects and this cottage was excellent. Great location with fantastic views. Location close to shops and food was also good.

The cottage was all that we had hoped for, cosy, clean, so well located and inviting. We were impressed by the standard of finish and found the cottage to be the perfect base for our south Cornwall holiday. Thank you.

This was our 6th stay in the first week of March in Cornwall and our 4th booking with Aspect Holidays. We've stayed in Portloe and Sennen Cove and this was our first time in Coverack. Gunvor Cottage is a beautiful cottage, clean, nicely decorated and perfectly located. And parking in front of the cottage is easy for unloading and unloading your car. The cottage is very close to the Village Shop, The Loft (where the friendly ladies serve a perfect cappuccino) and the Paris Hotel (perfect for a drink or a meal). From the cottage you can choose to go left or right on the South West Coast Path. When you go right you can walk to a small beach and on the way you can see seals and gannets. The Lizard, Mullion Cove and Helford are all in short driving distance and perfect locations for a day hike. After a day of hiking it feels good to come back to Gunvor Cottage and enjoy a drink in front of the fire. We've had a great week and will definitely book a cottage from Aspect Holidays in 2024 and maybe we will be back in Gunvor Cottage in the future!

our 2nd stay here its our go to place, total relaxation when were here we stay in cornwall quite a lot but we have never felt so relaxed here. the house is always spotlessly clean well thought out and use of space, underfloor heating is great when coming in from the cold beach is right on outside the door listening to the waves crashing against the wall when in bed at night is heavenly harbour is great for watching the fishing boats coming in or to do a spot of fishing overall this place is absolutely excellent great local pub nearby the paris the sunday carverys are amazing the local shop you can order freshly baked morning goods, has a great selection for a little village shop booking again asap

An absolutely beautiful cottage in a perfect location. The ideal balance between feeling like you’re in a home from home whilst being spoilt by the luxuries of being on holiday.

Lovely place to kick back and relax ??

Very attractive cottage and well decked out with equipment. Nice to have a bottle of Prosecco to welcome us. Coverack is a very nice, friendly village with a Pub for food and Shop for newspapers and a few groceries, both 'hubs' of the village. Wonderful Atlantic views!

A fabulous typically Cornish cottage that offers so much and oozes such charm and warmth. The cottage was so clean, tidy and welcoming that we wanted to stay forever. The spectacular views from all the windows made you want to sit and watch the changing scenery of fishing boats, swimmers and seals all day. With a local shop, a couple of restaurants and a terrific pub very close by it makes it very hard to leave. You will not be disappointed.

We had a lovely week in Coverack staying in Gunvor Cottage It was in such a good location with wonderful sea views The cottage is well equipped and so comfortable- from the bedding to the lovely huge soft towels We loved all the little extra touches like the welcome pack and local toiletries in the bathroom Coverack is such a lovely place to stay and has managed to keep all its natural charm and hasn’t changed much over the years We can’t wait to return

Beautiful cottage in an excellent location. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Comfortable and cosy. We loved it!

A really lovely cottage situated right on the sea front close to the harbour. Property is well equipped, extremely clean and has been tastefully renovated to the highest standard. We thoroughly recommend this cottage for anyone wishing to have an enjoyable holiday

Wonderful Gunvor Cottage we would definitely like to visit again. Will miss the lovely sea views and the private parking space was another plus.

Gunvor cottage has fantastic views of the bay and is perfectly positioned for village amenities and coastal walks. Beautiful cottage in an idyllic location.

Second visit to Gunvor and will return, great location and equipped with everything you want, home from home. Car park a plus. Very much appreciated the luxury hamper, towelling roses and slippers. Coverack and Gunvor total little gems. Thankyou Sue & Ernie Hardcastle.

Just had a fantastic week in this stunning cottage. Extremely clean and very well appointed. Had everything you need for a comfortable holiday. The excellent welcome pack was very much appreciated, best welcome pack we have ever had in a holiday cottage. Would definitely recommend this cottage, and hopefully will visit again in the future.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful, peaceful location! We loved opening the blinds to look at the sea every morning and listening to the waves during the night-very soothing! We found everyone in Coverack to be super friendly and enjoyed our nightly stroll down to the harbour to have a drink from the Paris Hotel, soaking up the last rays of the sun. Sad to be back home!

Beautifully renovated traditional thatched cottage which was stylish, warm, comfortable and well equipped.

The location was lovely with stunning sea views from the main windows, easy on road parking (this maybe a challenge in high season), short walk to excellent local shop/cafe and The Paris Hotel bar and restaurant as well easy access to the SWC path.

A perfect base for exploring this part of Cornwall, our highlights included choughs at Lizard Point, watching gannets and sandwich terns diving in the cove, Levant Tin mine & beam engine tour, Glendurgan gardens and Helford Boats ferry and Kurt Jackson Gallery and St Just.

Excellent welcome baskets with good quality local produce was very much appreciated!

Gunvor Cottage is delightful. Beautifully renovated & kitted out in style. The other reviews were definitely correct. We loved it & Coverack. Elizabeth’s pasties are a must !

Gunvor Cottage is a stunning character cottage beautifully decorated and furnished in an equally beautiful village. Views out of every window to enjoy whatever the weather. Coverack is lovely and has a great village store selling hot drinks and fresh bread plus all the essentials. We also enjoyed a friendly welcome and nice meal at the Paris Hotel. Plenty of stunning walks in the local area particularly Lizard point to Kynance Cove and mullion to Poldu Cove with a great cafe on the beach. We will definitely be back !

The cottage was beautiful and in a perfect location for the relaxation we required.

The decor is high spec and comfort is very high. The kitchen was practical and spacious to cook in and the thoughtful touch of the basket and flowers was very welcome.

Beautiful.

Gunvor is a lovely, very well appointed Cottage located in a central part of Coverack. Absolutely first class and can fully recommend.

we had an amazing time gunvor cottage exceeded all expectations . the cottage is well thought out with everything needed you can think is there. stunning views from all the front windows very comfy beds, heated floors throughout that keeps you toasty , with additonal log fire a great addition.... the village was very quite but it was 7th jan week so only the corner shop and the paris pub was open but both of these are fantastic additions to the village. cant wait to get back and stay again when the book opens for 2023 thank you gunvor cottage and thank you aspects holiday :)

Beautiful cottage, everything you needed and more, lovely area & Fantastic beach Great to be able to park outside the cottage on own little drive area! Lovely fish and chips from Paris Hotel Definitely recommend just perfect!

Our second stay at Gunvor Cottage and it was simply perfect again! 2 weeks in a beautiful part of the world. Thank you Aspects for a wonderful holiday, we will certainly be coming back!

First time in Gunvor Cottage. (Not first time in Coverack) Loved everything about the cottage. Modern, Light, Bright and airy. Downstairs cloak/shower room a great plus. Wood burner for cooler nights makes it really cosy. Welcome pack a great treat. Look forward to returning. Thankyou Aspects Team.

Gunvor cottage is excellent in every way, not one aspect was dissappointing.

Gunvor is absolutely one of our favourite cottages, and no 1 for Coverack. Furnished to a high standard, great location and a bonus parking space.

We have just returned from two wonderful weeks at Gunvor Cottage. The location is amazing - listening to the sea and watching the tide is a pleasure . The cottage had everything we needed and more . The dressing gowns and slippers were most welcome . We had a mid stay change of bedding and towels which was very much appreciated .

Highlights were popping to Archies Loft for snacks and coffees , eating fish and chips from the Lifeboat and walking along the coastal paths. Also tried windsurfing and kayaking (winds permitting ! Saw one dolphin and a seal at sunrise which is worth getting out of bed for!

We visited St Ives, the Lizard , Lands End , Falmouth , Penzance , Marazion and Truro and it was always a pleasure to return to Coverack , reach the stone signpost and sea the bay as we descended the steep hill....

Would absolutely return .

The Astill’s

This is one of the finest properties we have ever rented, in the best location in Cornwall. Unfortunately we departed very early in the morning and neglected to complete the visitors book. We would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Gunvor Cottage is the perfect place for a quiet Cornish getaway. We’ve been coming to Cornwall and Coverack in particular for many years and this is our favourite house so far. So comfortable with high quality finish, perfect location for beach and village and coastal walks. Cottage is cool in the hot weather but cosy when cool. Couldn’t have wished for more.

This house is perfect !

We have been coming to Cornwall on holiday for the past 20 odd years. Have finally found the perfect cottage.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left everything was absolutely perfect.. the cottage is very well located.. the service from Aspects was outstanding and never fails.. the location is great with excellent facilities nearby.. a cafe, shop and pub and don’t forget the chip shop.. we took many strolls down to the beach and also along the coastal path. Every day was an treat with beautiful weather made the walks even more pleasurable. On several occasions we ventured to the water-sports centre.. with very helpful and lovely welcoming staff.. they have a range of activities such like Paddle Boarding and Kayaking and wind surfing which hubby absolutely loved…all wetsuits and life jackets provided… all of which was very reasonably priced.. if you are thinking about going don’t hesitate go go go.. it’s perfect for couple and families alike.

We really enjoyed our weeks holiday at Gunvor cottage. A beautifully equipped cottage and beautifully decorated, definitely the best cottage we have stayed in. It is in a fantastic location. Coverack is such a pretty unspoilt village. We hope to return soon.

Gunvor cottage is a fantastic place to get away from it all. The location could not be better with sea views and access to local amenities. Perfect if you are looking for a secluded and peaceful break. The cottage is very well furnished and equipped. It has everything you need for a self catering holiday. The only downside for us was the bed which we found to be very uncomfortable, too soft for our liking with significant motion transfer. However I recognise this is a very personal thing and it may suit others well.

We loved our honeymoon week at Gunvor Cottage. The cottage is lovely but it's the location that makes it really special. Opening the shutters in the morning to look out across the cove is a perfect way to start the day. We enjoyed cooking in the well equipped kitchen and eating at the table, again looking out at the sea. There are a couple of cafes/coffee shops in the village (1 minute walk from the cottage) which were serving takeaway drinks and food and we had excellent fish and chips (gluten free on request) from the Lifeboat Station - just check which nights they're open. We explored lots of the coast around the Peninsula and recommend walks from Lizard Point to Kynance Cove and also from Mullion to Church Cove. We also visited Tredurgan Garden (National Trust) which was lovely and hired kayaks from Helford River Boats and explored the creeks on the river.

We were extremely impressed with Gunvor Cottage. It exceeded our expectations. Incredibly cosy and comfortable but also modern and so well equipped. Very tastefully decorated and the Christmas extras were perfect. The location couldn’t have been better. Impossible to fault anything about this cottage which ranks as maybe the nicest we have stayed at.

There are not enough words to describe how stunning this cottage is! Super cozy and amazing location. Nothing beats opening the shutter on a morning and looking out and listening to the sound of the sea... highly recommend.

What a fabulous place to stay! Everything you need and want. The quality of this cottage is 5* and to be able to listen to the sea day and night is just wonderful. Fresh flowers, prosecco and welcome goodies and nice touch. Will definitely be back.

Lovely cottage, well equipped, stunning location, thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.

Lovely and well appointed cottage with great sea views of a very picturesque Cornish fishing village.

A delightful place to stay in a great location. Very well modernised without compromising the charm of a Cornish thatched cottage. We hope to visit again soon.

Lovely touches in the house and great to hear the sea at night and be able to walk by it in the day time. As our holiday was cut short due to the crisis we are experiencing, we hope to go there again in better times and really enjoy and relax in the surroundings.

Stylish and beautifully furnished cottage in a stunning position with sea views from every window. Lovely and light filled and well equipped. Cosy woodburner to enjoy in the evenings. Coverack is a lovely unspoilt village with excellent access to the beautiful Helford river, and the stunning coast of the Lizard.

Will definitely return!

We could highly recommend Gunvor and suggest if it is available you take the plunge and discover this wonderful cottage and the village of Coverack and local area. It is most obvious that the owners have put love and energy into the renovation of the cottage .....simply a great place to enjoy a break.

Lovely historic cottage in a great location with super views. Close to the beach and other very good amenities. Lots to do in the local area...and close to the Coastal Path for walkers. Convenient summer parking would be appreciated. We loved the cottage and hope to return.

Absolutely fabulous! Luxurious and cosy. Great facilities and extras. A true gem in Cornwall

Beautiful luxury cottage in idilic location.

Gunvor cottage is set in the heart of Coverack. A short distance walk away are cafes where you can sit and watch the world go by and the sea change colour. To sample the freshly caught crab sandwiches is a must. Coverack is a delight in itself. A working harbour where you can sit in the evening watching the fisherman working and catch the last rays of sunshine.

The walks around Coverack are amazing. Follow the signs towards Kennack Sands. As you walk through the wooded paths every now and again you come to a clearing where you catch glimpses of the sea. The greatest surprise was to suddenly come to a clearing where you are greeted with the most amazing sculptures.

Kennack Sands is a beautiful beach where you can surf, paddle board or where the children can just enjoy the rock pools where the water is warm and they can fish with their nets.

From Coverack you can reach quite easily and quickly the bustling town of Falmouth where you can either take the pedestrian or car ferry across to St Mawes. However, a must is a visit to Trebbah Gardens about 15 minute drive. These gardens are astounding. The paths take you up and down the valley overlooking and passing glorious trees, shrubs and flowers. As you make your way down to the bottom you can walk through a gate and find yourself on Trebbah's own private beach nestling on the Helford Estuary. Sit and watch the ferry boats and small boats bobbing on the sea. As you leave the beach and climb back up you will pass Tarzan's playground a must for the children.

Other delights within easy reach must be Mullion Village. Park the car and walk to Pollurian beach. Climb back up from the beach and take the coastal path to Mullion Cove. Here you can enjoy lovely lunches and again the famous freshly caught crab sandwiches.

Finally your holiday would not be complete without a visit to Lizard Point. Park in Lizard Village and take the walk to Lizard Point. The views are breathtaking. Telescopes are set out and on blackboards they write the different sightings of wildlife for that day. From here you can either take the coastal path to Kynance Cove or walk back to the village and take the inland walk. Whichever way you choose Kyance has to be on everybody's list. It has to be one of the most beautiful places in England if not the British Isles. The long walk down either by steps or slope is worth every effort. Once down there you can relax on a beautiful beach where you can surf or simply sit at the top in the cafe enjoying a wonderful Cornish cream tea.

However you like to spend your holiday Coverack is a perfect location for getting out and about.

Having stayed in Gunvor before the renovation, this is now a lovely cottage to stay at. It was perfect for 4 adults and the bonus of a parking space was good. The cottage was very comfortable and had all the equipment needed. Can't wait to come back next year!

Found Gunvor cottage to be as per the listing and not disappoint. The location is fantastic in the heart of the village and brilliant views of the bay. Décor is light and performed cleverly to a high standard. Coverack never really felt busy in the height of summer but plenty to do with active harbour, sandy beaches, pub and cafes.

Lovely clean cottage, perfect location. Superb views over the bay with everything you need for a comfortable self catering holiday. When arrived a nice welcome pack which included the basics also flowers and a bottle of Prosecco. We also had a lovely anniversary card from Aspects. Would highly recommend if you want a quieter location in a fabulous cottage.

Great all rouder, at time of visit perfect. Cottage immaculate, central to village. Quite quiet axcept coastal trail hikers, small fishing/boat harbor, pub, local store; in fact what's not to like.

We have had a wonderful week in this beautiful cottage. The location is perfect, right on the harbour in Coverack, with the most amazing views from every window. The cottage is beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean & everything you could possibly need is provided. The underfloor heating & log burner are excellent & create a lovely cosy atmosphere. The bedrooms are just as beautiful, with comfy beds & more amazing views. There is so much to see & do in the area, a week is just not long enough. We have loved every minute of our time at Gunvor Cottage & can’t wait to return.

One of the most stunning holiday homes I have stayed in. The location was fantastic and you could hear the waves lapping on the shore. So lovely to just sit and look at the view of the bay which changes a lot during the day. There were a number of cute little shops close by to mooch around in and a lovely cafe within two minutes walk. There were also lovely coastal walks right outside the house. Wouldn’t hesitate to holiday there again.

You will not be disappointed if you stay in Gunvor Cottage. A truly beautiful holiday home with everything and more for a lovely, relaxing holiday. Coverack village is delightful and the sea views from the cottage are pretty special. We really did not want to leave!

Wonderful to sleep with the windows open to hear the sound of the sea, and to wake to the early morning sun and cries of the seagulls. Highly recommended.

Gunvor cottage is beautifully located, overlooking the Coverack bay, and has recently been renovated to a very high standard. We highly recommend for anyone looking to experience the fabulous Lizard peninsular. Aspects Holidays provided an incredibly high professional standard of service and we were very impressed.
