The Old Smithy, is a super clean, warm and comfy cottage. It is just 10 minutes or so from Bude and Widemouth Beach so great for getting out and about. Having stayed there several times we would highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed.

We always have a great time staying at The Old Smithy with its easy access to getting to places. It’s nice to just walk in and find that everything you need is there. Its a place where we will return to again and again

Our first time at The Old Smithy but hopefully not our last. Superbly equipped, nice rural views and very friendly hosts who provided us with everything from a welcome cream tea to a bottle of champagne to help us celebrate our Ruby Wedding anniversary. Lovely little lawned garden seating area where we could sit outside and read, easy parking and detailed information about the site and area. It was a place of threes. Three miles to Bude, three miles to Widemouth Bay and three miles to the Old Wainhouse Inn which produced some mouth-watering evening meals. Make sure you book for their Sunday carvery which is very popular with a choice of venison, pork, lamb and turkey. Really enjoyed our stay.

Myself & my Husband have just returned from staying at the Old Smithy for week ( 15/22 - September 23. It’s our second visit and we can’t wait to return!! The Old Smithy, is in a Fabulous location to get to many tourist places in Cornwall. It’s near places to eat also very close to Beaches, supermarkets and shops within 2 mins drive. On Arrival the place was very clean!! The owner had also left some Scones, Jam and Clotted Cream. Very warm welcome!! Highly recommend our little Gem we now call it ?? x

We had a very pleasant week at the Old Smithy. It feels very spacious and the enclosed garden was great for our cockerpoo. It is very well equipped and furnished, the owners have thought of everything. It is well located for Widemouth Bay, only a short drive away. We would definitely go back..

This was our second stay at The Old Smithy, it is so homey nice and comfy. You can see the ocean from the kitchen window and watch the sunrise in the bedroom.

We had a wonderful week in this lovely property. Tired and arriving late we walked into a clean, well laid out and stylish holiday let. It was very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. The views from the windows were amazing in particular watching the sunset every evening from the kitchen window. The garden was neat with comfortable garden furniture and safely enclosed for our new rescue dog. Situated within easy access to Bude, the whole of North Cornwall and North Devon. Our third visit to The Old Smithy and it was just as good as the first. Set it a quiet location yet close to all facilities at Bude and with Widemouth beach a 5 min car drive away for walking our pet Katie, just perfect. Alison is a great host, and the cream tea waiting for us when we arrived was delicious. No doubt we will return again.

Perfect! Is the best word to describe the old smithy! We went there to celebrate my 40th birthday and everything was just amazing! It’s quite easy to find, just off the A39 on a quite country lane, parking for 2 cars, and the key safe by the door is handy so you can just go in and let your holiday begin! On our arrival we opened the door and it was WOW! How amazing is this! The open plan kitchen and living room are so spacious, the bedroom is a decent size and the bed very comfy! The bathroom is amazing also! Loved the fact there was underfloor heating, with it being November it kept the place nice and cozy! Everything in there is top quality and fabulously clean! Nice touch of a cream tea and milk in the fridge on arrival (thank you Alison! ) Loved the view’s also - in the bedroom you can see fields and the sheep, in the kitchen you can see widemouth bay, so abit of everything! I carn’t not mention the big tv either! Most holiday places you only get a tiny tv but this one is great with Netflix and Amazon should you wish to have a lazy day in! The garden is a great size also, fully enclosed, our dog Lexi enjoyed playing in it! There’s also a handy storage room ( door next to the front door ) which was fab for drying Lexi off after her wet muddy walks before letting her back inside! The owner lives at the back of the old smithy but not intrusive at all, we can’t honestly praise this place enough if we could give it 100 stars we would! It’s truly fabulous and we are returning!!

Excellent location to discover parts of Cornwall Real home from home comforts

Lovely little place, like home from home. Nice view of the cows grazing from the window. Bude is just a short 5 minute drive away. The house was clean, nice touch being left scones/ jam/ cream, tea coffee sugar etc. only downside is the bed could do with being a king rather than a double. Would recommend this place to anybody wanting a relaxing escape.

My husband & I, have just stayed at the Old Smithy. We had fabulous week staying in this property. Fabulous location, beautiful decorated. Loved seeing the farm animals from one window, then the sea view from the other window. On arrival we were left with Afternoon Cream Tea ( Fabulous). Personal Choice ( Bigger Bed in the Bedroom) remember personal choice. We loved it so much that we booked to stay for September 2023. Highly recommend !

We had a lovely time at The Old Smithy, despite the weather being against us. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable with a very nice bed. It is very light, well designed and in a very quiet area. The storage cupboard was very handy for wetsuits, body boards and our bikes.

Absolutely loved having cows in the field outside our window - spent a lot of time conversing with them :o)

Thank you for the lovely cream tea - the jam was very special.

Would have no hesitation in staying at the property again.

Lovely cottage with easy access to both Bude and beaches

Although only for two people was pleasantly surprised with the size of The Old Smithy, was bigger then we expected. Beautifully decorated and well equiped to cater for every need on our holiday. Owner very pleasant and helpful. Would definately reccomend to anyone and will think of returning sometime in the future.

Lovely cosy little chalet style cottage. Had everything you could need (missed my dishwasher). They even had live entertainment for us and our pet cat, she loved watching the bullocks in the field next to the cottage, we even ended up putting a kitchen bar stool by the window for her to sit and watch them. The cottage is well situated in a quiet little lane that is only 100yds from The Atlantic Highway (A30) so easy to get to Widemouth Bay, Bude and Boscastle. Hope to visit again

This is our second visit to this lovely, spacious, clean, well equipped little property. It is in a beautiful rural location, just off the main road so it is convenient for the beaches and facilities at Widemouth Bay and Bude. The owner is very approachable and helpful. We will definitely be booking again.

We are telling everyone it was awful so then it doesn’t get booked up ?? Only joking ! It’s perfect! Not far from the beach Beautiful views! We watched the sun go down over Widemouth Bay from the kitchen window. It just has all that you need and more.

Our second time here and hopefully we will be back again, it's got a home from home feel and was very clean and comfy and we love that it is a 5 minute drive to the beach. The addition of a fence was good to see so our 'Katie ' was nice and secure when in the garden. We also enjoyed watching netflix which we had not experienced before. We had a lovely time and thoroughly recommend The Old Smithy.

Fabulous location - we went to Padstow, Rock and into Bude most days.

Everything about The Old Smithy was perfect, from waking up to see the cows in the next field, looking at the sea from the window to watching the sunsets. The accommodation was fully equipped for all our needs and more.

We spent a week here in September. Great location, lovely building with everything you need. The owners seem to have thought of everything. Cannot recommend the Old Smithy enough.

Just come back from a weeks stay at the Smithy. What a fantastic place, very clean, tastfully furnished. Couldn't believe just how well equiped it was, it was just like stepping into a home. The afternoon tea on arrival, was the icing on the cake. Lovely views over the fields, great location, just a short drive to the beach. Will certainly book again and highly recommend.

Added this place on to our Cornwall stay and so glad we did. Home from home open plan living and we had a few days of less than great weather which meant we got to enjoy the comfy sofa and large TV. Underfloor heating was great and made the place so cosy (once we worked out how to use it!). Place had all we needed and was in a reasonable location if you dont want to be on the coast. Short drive into Bude and Widemouth Bay. Good standard of furnishings and definitely well maintained. The Neff Oven with slide and hide was a nice treat as was the welcome cream tea. Only downside for us was the bed, which was a little low and soft and also difficult to access from one side as there was only a short amount of space at the foot of the bed but not a dealbreaker once you get used to it. Owner definitely has thought of everything to make for a great stay and it was good value

While the cottage was exceptionally well equipped, clean and tidy we had a particular problem with the length of the bed which resulted in us leaving the cottage a day early as after 3 nights without sleep I was totally exhausted and the whole holiday was ruined.

I am fairly tall but not exceptionally so (6 ft 1 1/2 in) and it was impossible to get a comfortable position in the bed due to the shortish bed having a wooden foot board at the bottom making it impossible to have anything resembling a straight leg and I was therefore unable to sleep for more than a couple of hours cat napping. While the dimensions of the bedroom do not allow for any more space there are a couple of things that must be done to make the most of the short space. 1) replace bed with a divan style bed which would allow someone to let their feet hang over the edge (I have come across this before and is not a problem and still allows a good nights sleep. 2) The shortage of space between bottom of bed is compounded by Long curtains taking up a lot of the very short gap. This could be eased by having blinds fitted within the window frame thus maximising the available space. My wife on two occasions at least stubbed her toe trying to get through the small space available.

The Old Smithy is a wonderfully comfortable and quiet place to stay and close to the Atlantic highway making travelling around very easy. Everything has been thought about and it is tastefully furnished. Lovely.

The Old Smithy is a delightful place to stay for a couple visiting Bude in Cornwall. It is supremely comfortable and well equipped. Everything has been considered to make your holiday a pleasure.

This is a lovely property, very spacious, clean and comfortable. Excellent kitchen facilities, excellent bathroom with a lovely shower and comfy large living room. Good car parking with plenty of outside garden space. It had a large 60” tv that was difficult to watch in the daytime because of window reflection which had no blinds or curtains which could be closed. The bedroom also had the same problem making it daylight at 5am or whenever dawn broke. If you are much taller than us (5’8”) the bed will be too small. We found our feet were touching the footboard of the bed. There was also limited room between the bottom of the bed and the wall so one person will find it awkward getting into bed.

Very well equipped property, everything you need to make your holiday comfortable, although a dishwasher would’ve been nice to have but we ate out most days. Great views from the bedroom and kitchen, lovely big bathroom, very comfy bed and plenty of clothes storage. A variety of footpaths and country roads within easy walking distance that take you to the beach and coastal path.

The Old Smithy is a clean, super comfy, well equipped cottage very close to Bude and the beautiful beaches in the area. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Old Smithy cottage is comfortably furnished to a very high standard. All kitchen appliances & equipment plus 60" TV, Sky & BlueRay are provided, anything that you would have or want at home is available at the cottage, the owners appear to have thought of everything Very close to the Atlantic Highway (A39) with great access to a number of beaches, towns and local facilities/shops The pictures of the cottage tell only part of the story, when you walk through the door you know you've found something special So good we've booked Old Smithy again

A great quiet restful place, ideal base to celebrate my 50th birthday. Prosecco and a birthday card as well. Well stocked property with everything you need, even a comfy bed. The Old Smithy is a beautiful place... designed, furnished and equipped to the highest standard. My wife and I were very comfortable there and enjoyed a lovely holiday. We hope to visit again sometime.

The Old Smithy will not disappoint you. It is very homely and relaxing. It gave us the Wow factor when we stepped inside. It has great places to visit nearby. With dog friendly beaches. Bude beach was great it turned out 15 yr old dog into a puppy again! Would definitely recommend and would also rebook. Thank you for a lovely week!

Very nice property which is well furnished and comfortable. Ample parking and a nice little garden. The property also has lovely views. My only complaint would be that the garden is not secure. As this property states they accept bookings with a dog I would expect the garden to be secure to prevent any dogs going of exploring! We took our dog and had to be outside with him while he was outside to make sure he didn’t run off! Apart from this, it was a lovely property to stay in.
