Enjoying spectacular far reaching sea views of Widemouth Bay, 3 Swelle Cottages is a delightful three bedroom cottage with a huge garden and raised deck from which you can sit back, unwind, drink in the incredible views whilst watching the children and dogs play safely till their hearts are content. Brimming with original features like beamed ceilings and flag stone floors. Cosy up on the sofas surrounding the woodburner while indulging in a glass of wine. With one large family room and two double rooms, it's an ideal base for the whole family.

This cottage is in a superb location situated just outside of Bude and near to Widemouth Bay where there is a dog friendly beach and plenty of surf. With plenty of parking and links to the atlantic highway, 3 Swelle Cottages really does have it all.

How to get here

With its own airport, Newquay is easily accessed both from abroad and within the UK. It's also simple to get to by car. From Newquay airport, the rest of Cornwall is within close reach, and you won’t be far from wherever you choose to stay. Surfing

North Cornwall is renowned for its vibrant surf scene. Porthtowan and Portreath both offer excellent surfing, and each year in September, St Agnes hosts the World bellyboarding championsips at Chapel Porth beach; a great day out for the whole family. 

Newquay’s Fistral Beach is a Mecca for surfing and bodyboarding, and its consistent surfing conditions make it a popular surf spot with visitors and locals alike. Each year, the Boardmaster’s surf competition takes place at Fistral beach and Watergate Bay, where live music and surfing comes together for a festival like no other. 

Food and Drink

For the foodies, there is a wealth of restaurants, cafés and bars to choose from. Rick Stein’s eateries in Padstow, the Jamie Oliver-inspired Fifteen in Watergate Bay, and Nathan Outlaw’s restaurants in Rock and Port Isaac, are all perfect for self catering in North Cornwall.

Truro City of Lights

To welcome the start of the Christmas season the beautiful Catherdral City of Truro puts on a show like no other. A festival of light delights the crowds who line the streets to see a parade of giant handmade lanterns. All manner of samba, brass and pipe bands process alongside, accompanied by flamboyant dancers. Further outdoor music performances take place throught the evening and there are many a food and drink stall at which to pick up a tasty snack or warming drink.

Tom Bawcock's Eve, Mousehole

The tradition of Tom Bawcock comes from the feast or famine lifestyle of Cornwall.  The story goes that it was just before Christmas; there had been no fish for weeks, the boats couldn’t get out into the raging storm, the village was starving. One man, Tom Bawcock, dared to take his boat out of the harbour’s safety. He returned with enough fish to make fish pie for the whole village. 

Today, a festival takes place each year to celebrate Tom Bawcock's bravery. During the festival, Star Gazey pies are eaten in memory of this famous event.

St Ives Feast Day

Held on the anniversary of the consecration of the Parish Church of St Eia in 1434 AD, Feast Day offers visitors to witness - and even join in with - some centuries-old traditions. A morning precesison led by the Mayor to bless the Well of St Eia. Following this, the Mayor will 'Hurls the Silver Ball' into a crowd of children who assemble on the beach below. The one who returns the ball to the Guildhall steps by midday receives a silver coin. In the afternoon the Mayor then throw pennies from the balcony of the Guildhall for children to collect.
