Nalu Ohana, meaning 'surfing family' in Hawaiian, is a beautiful, state-of-the-art and sustainable smart home. Its elevated position gives those lucky enough to stay here panoramic views over Newquay and the stunning North Coast. The professionally designed interior compliments the exceptional design of the building and sleeping up to eight people there is ample space for all the family.

Take in the views from the comfy king size four poster bed, or enjoy a chilled drink in the top floor sitting room where bi-fold doors open up to a large sunny balcony and spectacular coastal views. Only a five minute stroll takes you into the heart of Newquay, its quaint harbour and stretch of sandy beaches, where you can choose to relax with a book, or take part in a wealth of watersports available from surfing, paddle boarding to coasteering or fishing. The cinema is just a three minute walk down the road for those rainy days and Fistral beach is just ten minutes away, where you will be spoilt for choice of where to enjoy a bite to eat on the seafront.

Just wanted to say how much of an amazing time we had staying at nalu Ohana. The property is beautiful and is equipped to such a high standard with everything you could possibly need during your stay. After visiting Cornwall for the past few years we have never come across anything as amazing as this place. We could not recommend it enough. Looking forward to staying again in the future x

Things to do in Newquay

Surfing

Regarded as the home of the UK’s surf scene, and offering consistently good surf throughout the year, Newquay is great place to surf whether you’re a first-timer or seasoned pro. Fistral beach is a firm favourite, but there are many others which suit different weather conditions, abilities and tides. Read more about surfing in Newquay on our blog.

Beaches

When staying at a holiday cottage in Newquay, you won’t be short of beaches to choose from, with nine sandy beaches on the doorstep. All of Newquay’s beaches are lifeguarded in the summer, providing a safe place to spend the day soaking up the sun.  

Watergate Bay and Fistral beach welcome dogs all year round, making Newquay an ideal location to spend a week with your four legged friend.

Attractions

With such an abundance of attractions in and around Newquay, it’s the perfect place for a family holiday at any time of year. Newquay Zoo offers a great day out at any time of year, as do the nearby Screech Owl Sanctuary, and the Blue Reef Aquarium. Holywell Bay Fun Park provides guaranteed fun for the family whatever the weather.

If you fancy something a bit different, fishing trips and sea safaris are available, from which you can take in the scenery from a different angle. You may even be lucky enough to catch a sight of seals and dolphins!

Newquay’s links golf course overlooks Fistral beach and is regarded as one of the best golf courses in the county, providing a different challenge everyday depending on the weather.

Events in Newquay

The Boardmasters surf and music festival in August sees thousands descend on Newquay's Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay to watch surf competitions and live music.

Newquay's Fish Festival which takes place each year in September, sees three days of foodie fun, from cookery demonstrations, to fly fishing tutorials and live entertainment.

Newquay Beer Festival gives you the opportunity to sample over 50 ales and enjoy live music.

Eating out in Newquay

Newquay's vibrant nightlife offers something for everyone, with a huge selection of eateries. Jamie Oliver’s ‘Fifteen Cornwall’ at Watergate Bay is well worth a visit, as are the many beach cafe's and restaurants serving up locally caught seafood.

Santa by Steam

Join Santa and his elves aboard his magical steam train as you journey through the Cornish countryside. Awaiting Santa on the platform, you'll be entertained with carols performed by Liskeard band. On the hour long journey, children will get to meet and greet Santa, recieve a present and have their photograph taken. The grown-ups aren't forgotten either - you'll recieve a mince pie and seasonal drink!

Padstow Christmas Festival

Rick Stein, Paul Ainsworth and Nathan Outlaw will be flying the flag for Cornwall at this year’s 10th annual Padstow Christmas Festival. For your chance to see chef demonstartions, head to the festival stage or to the Sharp's Chefs' Theatre - the demonstartions are all free to attend!

Why not make the most of your visit to Padstow and pop into the Chrsitmas market where you will find an array of food goodies and handmade gifts to purchase. There will also be a selection of live music to enjoy, and you can take the children to meet Santa in his grotto!
