St Pirans Day Celebrations

Gool Perran Lowen - Happy St Piran's Day in Cornish!

St Piran's Day, celebrated on March 5th, is the national day of Cornwall, named after one of Cornwall's patron saints. According to legend, St Piran, a 5th century Irish Abbot, was thrown into the sea in Ireland tied to a mill stone; somehow he washed up on the Cornish coast still alive. He made Cornwall his new home and became the patron saint of tin-miners after rediscovering tin smelting.

Today, Cornwall still celebrates his heritage. On the closest Sunday to St Piran's day, Perranorth hosts one of the largest St Piran's celebrations. Held at the dunes on Perranporth, a play is performed to re-enact St Piran's life. Spectators are welcomed and encouraged to dress in black, white and gold, the colours of Cornwall.

Other celebrations will be held in various locations across Cornwall.

May 2019

Cosy, clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Would wish to stay here again.

Nov 2018

A very cosy apartment in a great location within easy walking distance to Fistral Beach. Look forward to visiting again.

Oct 2018

This apartment was beautifully kept and presented with all the comforts of home. There were lots of lovely touches like tourist information, books, games and Dvds. It felt like a home rather than a holiday apartment.

Sep 2018

brilliant position and ideal for two

Sep 2017

The apartment is not as described, it is an upstairs of a house (separate) but you can hear others because they're only downstairs or next door. Lovely size for a couple, however needs upgrading. Comfy bed and sofa, and good location to explore Newquay.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

Thank you for your comments. We always aim to be completely open and honest and try to ensure that decsriptions and photos accurately reflect the properties that we market, so we are very sorry if it was felt that we have not achieved that on this occassion. Fistral Reach is like you say, an apartment situated above a house, on the first floor. Part of the apartment is over the garage of the house below, and part of the apartment is situated above the living space of the house. Whilst apartments can come with a risk of hearing some noise from adjoining properties, this is not something that has been raised as an issue previously, so we are sorry if you had experienecd unusual levels of noise the week that you were here. Thank you for bringing this to our attention; we will closely monitor further feedback on this. Tanya, Customer Services

This is a lovely little flat in a great residential area only 200 meters from South Fistral Beach. It has parking for one car on the drive but most days there was a space outside too. The flat has a great secure storage area perfect for a bike or surf board. The flat was clean and very comfy. Perfect for 2 people. There are walks from the flat out to the beach, headland or the gannel estuary. Surf shop hire, beach, corner shop and cafe all within 200 meters from the property. What more do you need. Great value for money. Would definitely go back.
