September 2023

The apartment was very clean on arrival loved the fact we had tea coffee sugar and milk on arrival, all those little things made a big difference. The view from the balcony was amazing especially on a sunny morning. Newquay town was about a 5 minute walk down an probably about 10 minute walk back up to the apartment. We were so impressed that we are looking to book with Aspects Holidays again for 2024

Holidays in Newquay

Holidays in Newquay are all about stunning scenery, beaches, and, of course, waves. As it’s the surf capital of the UK, you’ll find an abundance of surf shops and schools allowing you to immerse yourself in the surfing culture from the moment you arrive, whether you just want to watch or get stuck in.

However, if surfing isn’t for you, there are plenty of ways to fill the days while staying in the stunning beachside town of Newquay. Head to one of the many beaches for a family day on the sand - picture rock pooling, picnics, and sandy toes! Or, if you fancy a bit of retail therapy, the bustling town has a selection of independent shops selling an array of goods including clothes, artwork, and delightful handmade treats – not to mention a mouth-watering selection of cafés, bars, and restaurants for a mid-shopping or post-beach refuel.

Newquay also has a selection of attractions and events, perfect for the kids (and big kids) from a wild and wonderful zoo to a round of golf by the sea. There are also some great walks in the area thanks to the beautiful South West Coast Path, perfect for a dog-friendly Cornish getaway.

Did you know...

Newquay has nine sandy beaches to choose from!

Beaches in Newquay

When staying at a holiday cottage in Newquay, you won’t be short of aquatic adventures, with lots of sandy beaches on your doorstep. All of Newquay’s beaches are lifeguarded in the summer, providing a safe place to spend the day soaking up the sun.

Fistral beach – What do you call the best beach for surfing in the UK? Fistral! With the most consistent surfing in the country and great swathes of golden sand, there’s little doubt as to why surfers flock here from all over the place. You’ll find a surf school and wetsuit hire for those wanting to travel light and it’s dog friendly all year round for those travelling with furry companions.

Watergate Bay – Second on Newquay’s surfing scoreboard, Watergate Bay offers a seriously spacious alternative to Fistral whether you fancy a surf, a stroll or a hot chocolate in the beachside café.

Crantock beach – If you prefer a quieter beach backed by sand dunes then Crantock beach won’t disappoint. Dog-friendly and perfectly sheltered on the southern end, this sandy haven is popular with families and anyone looking for a place to doze in the sand.

Newquay Towan – Right in the centre of the town, Newquay Towan is great for quick dips and sandy escapes while you explore the surrounding shops, attractions, and perhaps even a bar or two!

Great Western, Porth, Whipsiderry, Tolcarne, Lusty Glaze, and Mawgan Porth are also fantastic beaches in Newquay. Read all about them in our extended guide and discover your favourite!

Things to do in Newquay

With quick access to the rugged north Cornish coast and some fun-fuelled attractions and activities, there are lots of great things to do in Newquay.

Surfing & Watersports

Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned pro, the beaches of Newquay offer something for every ability, weather forecast, and tide. And it’s not just surfing on offer either. Bring your own seafaring devices or hire kayaks and paddleboards from one of the many rental shops around.

Attractions

With such an abundance of attractions in and around Newquay, it’s the perfect place for a family holiday at any time of year. Newquay Zoo offers a great day out, as do the nearby Screech Owl Sanctuary and the Blue Reef Aquarium. For those who love animals and theme park rides, Dairyland Farm Park is the place to be while Trerice Manor House offers a beautiful walk through history.

If you fancy something a bit different, fishing trips and sea safaris are available, from which you can take in the scenery from a different angle. You may even be lucky enough to catch a sight of seals and dolphins!

Newquay Golf Club overlooks Fistral beach and is regarded as one of the best golf courses in the county, providing a different challenge every day depending on the weather, all with incredible sea views.

Shopping

From beach supplies to holiday mementoes, Newquay’s streets are lined with lots of interesting shops from big names to independent favourites. Unsurprisingly, there are plenty of surf shops where you can fill up your beachy wardrobe including Married to the Sea, Boardwalk Surf Shop, Watershed, and Ann’s Cottage – some even have surfboards too so you can really kit yourself out. Razzmatazz is an eclectic mix of fun, holiday take-homes and Lucky Go Happy provides a lovely selection of ethical bits and bobs for the whole family.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, a trip to Roly’s Fudge Pantry or Cornish Cream will see it satisfied as you’ll find a fantastic array of Cornish chocolates, fudge, and even Cornish cream tea hampers (which make for the ultimate beachside picnic).

Walks

With the north Cornish coast right on your doorstep, it will come as little surprise that Newquay is jam-packed with incredible walks. Walk around Park Head (which you might recognise from Poldark) and Pentire Steps for some stunning coastal views or trudge along to Lappa Valley where you can swap the rippling blue of the sea for the dappled shade of the woods. You’ll also find a lovely area around the Porth Reservoir and surrounding wildlife reserve, giving wildlife watchers plenty of opportunities to whip the binoculars out.

Dining out

Newquay's vibrant foodie scene has grown and grown over the years, with the town now offering something for every taste and occasion. If you want to eat out, you’ll find a huge selection of eateries, including many beach cafés and restaurants serving up locally caught seafood with incredible sea views. Or, if you fancy something special after a day surfing the waves, check out the many fantastic fine dining options or cocktail bars for a relaxing drink.

If you want to stay in and make the most of your lovely home from home, there are some excellent farmshops and delis in the area, including the welcoming Trevilley Farm for all your locally-produced needs or Malcolm Barnecutt Bakery for some seriously moreish fresh bakes.

Dog-friendly Newquay

If you want to bring your four-legged friend with you on your Cornish holiday, you couldn’t pick a better spot than Newquay where you’ll find plenty of great dog walks.

Dog-friendly beaches

Fistral beach – Surf, sea, and sandy paws, it’s all waiting for you at Fistral beach 365 days a year.

Watergate Bay – With miles of sand and lots of rockpools and caves to sniff out at low tide, this dog-friendly beach is a favourite with dogs and humans alike.

Whipsiderry beach – Considered a hidden gem by many, dogs are welcome throughout the year on Whipsiderry so why not take a dog-nap in the sand before checking out those rock formations!

Mawgan Porth beach – with Bedruthan Steps a short walk away and lots of sand for zoomies, the beach at Mawgan Porth is great for tuckering out the pooch (and the kids).

You can also see these beaches from the water, as many of the boat trips in the area welcome seadogs aboard!

Dog-friendly pubs and restaurants

When it comes to dinner time, there are plenty of dog-friendly pubs, restaurants and cafés where the whole pack can shake the day off and refuel.

Lewinnick Lodge – Perfectly placed up on the cliffs on the Pentire Headland, Lewinnick Lodge offers sea views with your meal, whether it’s breakfast, lunch or evening drinks with the pooch by your side.

Lakeside Café – Another dreamy spot for a bite to eat, Lakeside Café not only provides delicious treats for its human guests but for its doggie guests too – homemade dog ice cream should get those tails wagging!

The Old Albion Inn – 400 years old with no signs of slowing down, The Old Albion has truly perfected its welcoming atmosphere. Enjoy the thatched roof as you enter and the fully-stocked bar when you’re inside.

Stunning view, comfy beds, underground carpark, stable WLAN connection. Walking distance to town center with nice shops and cafes as well as supermarkets. Central starting point for trips all around Cornwall. Would highly recommend and hope to be back soon.

Lovely view and good location, comfortable and spacious, loved it

Have stayed at Costal View 3 times and booked back in for our 4th visit. Great location for exploring Newquay with fantastic views. Well equipped comfortable apartment. Kids love the private pool although you need to book in at the start of your stay to make sure you can get an hour slot you want on any given day. Parking space in the secure underground car park is a bonus and obviously saves a fair amount of money on parking charges.

Beautiful apartment. Second time we’ve been, will definitely stay there again.

Lovely holiday with Aspect Holidays in Newquay Cornwall. Apartment was lovely and clean great sea view from the balcony, we will be coming again next year. Had a fabulous Holliday.

Absolutely fab place to holiday. The view is just amazing. Like home from home in the apartment and my kids loved the pool!

Myself, my husband, and our 5 month old had a wonderful time staying at Coastal View. The property was easy to access & very well equipped. The property was very spacious, more so than the pictures show. Beautiful views. An added extra having the pool & gym. Would definitely recommend to families!

Coastal view is a lovely apartment. 8mins walk to town centre. Everything you need. Nice sea view. Our only mishap when we stayed here in June 2022 was the basement parking was broken into. Cars were damaged. We have notified Aspects and Hope they can make it more secure.

We were very sorry to hear about this. We were very shocked to have had this information as this is not something that we would expect to hear of happening around here. We have since spoken with the management company who are responsible for maintaining the communal areas there and had confirmation that a new entry system has been installed and additional security measures put into place. We are glad that your car was not damaged in this incident and hope that this has not put you off returning to this lovely apartment. Tanya, Customer Services

Great holiday apartment with lots of room for a family of four or two couples. Central for all amenities and a lovely view of the sea.

Had a relaxing few days away , Aspects holidays kept us informed re the pool and gym not being open. Would highly recommend this property and will return again in the future

Excellent apartment in a great area with beautiful sea views. Only 5 min walk into Newquay and a great central location to explore Cornwall.

We have just spent a week at this property and were really impressed. The apartment itself is large, well presented, very clean and had all the equipment to make for a comfortable stay. It really was an excellent base and we felt totally at ease there. The views from the living room and main bedroom are amazing. The building has a lift, very small pool and a gym and sauna. The communal areas are clean and well cared for. The property is about a 5-10 minute downhill walk from the town centre and seafront. We have used aspects holidays twice now and both times have had no problems at all, both properties were exactly as described, clean and comfortable and the booking process is so easy and all check in details were received in good time once the holiday was paid for. Overall, I highly recommend this property and also wouldn't hesitate to recommend booking with aspects.

I couldn’t have had a better apartment in newquay, I booked on the day we traveled and couldn’t find anywhere else to rent, so I was a bit worried, well it was above and beyond our expectations clean, modern, Even a small pool and gym it was great.

Just arrived back from 2 weeks at Coastal View, and what a fantastic stay. The apartment was spotless and well presented, there was plenty of space for us 2 adults and 2 older kids. The apartment was well equipped although slightly lacking in glassware and cutlery, there was even a few things left over for the beach. I have a large car and had no problems parking, once you get the knack its fine. The pool was a great bonus my boys loved it, it was a bit chilly at first but we warmed up. There is even a little terrace to sit out while the kids play in the pool and watch the sun go down. Our only little niggle would be that the picture of the balcony is a little deceptive and it is a bit small, 2 can sit out but still a bit of a squeeze. The street can get noisy but as you are in the centre of town it would be expected. The location is perfect 5 minutes into town and a 15 minute walk to the beaches. We had a fabulous holiday and would definitely stay here again.

We are glad to hear that you had a great time here. It's a great apartment in a brilliant location for exploring Newquay and surrounding areas, being so central but with parking at the property so that you can easily get out to also explore further afield. We always want to be completely open and honest with the descriptions and photos, so try to ensure that they give an accurate representation of what you will arrive to. The balcony is quite a small area, so we try to show in several photos how narrow it is, but if that wasn't clear enough, we can only apologise. We will keep an eye out for any further feedback and see if we need to review these photos going forward. Thanks for letting us know. Tanya, Customer Services

We really enjoyed our stay at Costal View. The property is really spacious and has everything needed- there are even deck chairs for the beach. The views across the coastline are amazing! The walk into town is about 5-10 minutes downhill. We would highly recommend this property and would definitely stay here again.

We were very happy with our choice of accommodation. Apartment was spacious, well decorated, comfortable and clean. We had a complimentary box of biscuits on arrival and milk in the fridge, which was a nice gesture. We would happily book through Aspects in the future. Thank you

Perfect apartment with great views. We would definitely recommend it.

Coastal View is stunning. It’s spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished & decorated to a high standard throughout. Great view from the balcony. Plenty of toys, games & dvd’s for the kids inside too. Great location. 5 min walk to town centre, 10 min walk to beach. We would recommend this place to anybody. Thumbs up Aspect.

Spacious apartment with a nice view. Very good location.

Been coming to coastal view for a few years now and really felt at home the apartment is spotless and the view from the balcony is perfect would recommend everyone to come here val from hucknall notts

This apartment is spacious and has a very central location, although the street noise can be loud from the car park next door. Overall we felt the apartment could do with a bit of care - fixing the lights and blinds in the living room, a bit more crockery/ cutlery. The bed was very comfortable though. The swimming pool is an added bonus but was a bit too cold at times to be pleasant.

However, our major issue was with the lift. On both arrival and departure Saturdays this was “out of order” meaning we had to move luggage three floors from the basement car park manually, and with an 8 month baby to look after. The lift was fine the rest of the time and we suspect it was actually being turned off on the days where heavy usage was expected. For that reason alone we’d never return to this apartment block.

Thank you for your review. We were pleased to see that you found the apartment to be spacious and to have a good location. The brilliant central location can mean that you may hear some of the hustle and bustle from the town, but we hope that you'll agree, the location more than makes up for this. We were sorry to see that you felt the property could do with a bit of care, a lot can happen in a short space of time in properties, especially after such a busy season, so thank you for your feedback, we have passed it all onto the property owner and we shall look into your comments during the upcoming property inspection. We can totally understand that the lift being out of order for a large duration of your stay would have been frustrating for you, especially when it comes to moving luggage around. Unfortunately, the lift is something that is out of ours and the owner's control when it comes to things like breakdowns, but our team in Newquay are always on hand to help where they can and if there are ever any issues like this, they'll be more than happy to contact management companies to try and get the issue resolved. We are not aware that it is intentionally switched off, but we will keep a very close eye out for any further reports of issues. We do hope that we will get the chance to welcome you back again soon. Ben, Customer Services

Excellent customer service from Aspect Holidays and a beautiful, well maintained property just a short walk to the beach. Magnificent views with everything you could need in the apartment. Even the few stormy days we had still gave us some wonderful views over the bay. We'll definitely be back!

Fantastic property in a great location with sea views. Spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything needed for a restful holiday.

We've been visiting Newquay for many years and I have never experienced such good customer service from any holiday company before. Kimberley and Tammy went above and beyond to look after us when our original property (Headland Point) was flooded. We were so grateful and really impressed. Thank you so much.

That was the easiest set of top ratings I have ever given. I can honestly say that the apartment was outstanding. Amazingly clean and well equipped. Access secure and simple. We loved the place and most definitely will be back sometime in the near future.

This appartment is very nice and comfortable view from balcony is perfect definately recomend to anyone val from hucknall notts

Very well equiped and spacious. The apartment exceeded our expectations and we were very impressed with the furnishings. The pool was a great added bonus which the kids loved, will definitely be returning!

The apartment was excellent. Met all our needs as a family. Great location to all amenities which was excellent (even with the steep hills) and views were as advertised. Underground parking facility was handy. We would recommend to friend and family

Amazing visit, fantastic location with it being only a stone's throw away from the town and beach, and not far of a drive for most other things. The apartment was amazing quality, lovely design really homey. Amazing stay.

Lovely well presented apartment with beautiful views and excellent location. After staying in several different apartments in Newquay this has been by far our favourite and also good value for money.

The car park is tight and the wifi was a bit flakey on some days.

Overall we had a lovely time and felt at home. We intend of returning to this apartment in the near future.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are glad you liked it, despite the parking space being a bit small and the wifi being a little temperamental. We try to highlight the nature of the parking space as clearly as possible within the website description, so we hope that it was what you had expected from that, and thank you for letting us know about the wifi, that has since been looked into and is now working as it should be. Thanks again and we hope to see you back here again soon. Tanya, Customer Services

Apartment is very nice. Can settle in immediately as everything you need is supplied.

Coastal views was a phenomenal stay for my family and myself over the Christmas holidays.

So great that we will be back for my birthday this year. Home away from home.

This apartment is in an excellent location with views over the bay and Newquay. The facillities and ammenities are second to none. Super accomadation for a English summer holiday.

Property was excellent and would definitely recommend and if revisiting use again. Thankyou for the kind gesture of prosecco and birthday card left for my mums 80th birthday. Such a lovely welcome to the flat and great start to our holiday. Could not have asked for more. X

Excellent location and really well appointed apartment. We loved it!!!!

We had a lovely holiday in Newquay. We would recommend the property to others.

We stayed at coastal view and we will definitely come back. Lovely apartment, perfect location and stunning views. Couldn't ask for much more, had such a lovely holiday and we will book again next year. Would reccomend this appartment to anyone, you won't be disappointed.

We would recommend the appartment.

Stylish apartment in a prime location.

Fantastic modern apartment equipped with everything you could want. It was great to look out & have such a great view of the sea!

We had a wonderful stay at this apartment. Beautiful views across Newquay and only a short stroll into town and to the beach. The apartment itself was clean and well furnished as were the communal areas. The swimming pool and sauna were an added bonus however the pool was a bit cold! There's lots to do in the local area as well as plenty of places to visit within a short drive. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful apartment just a short walk from the town with excellent facilities and views! We didn't want to come home!!
