Trelyn is a beautiful house with everything we needed for a large family group. There is plenty of space and the bedrooms are a good size. The kitchen is well equipped; we cooked most nights for a family of 7 which was very sociable and enjoyable. There is space outside the house to comfortably park two cars which is helpful as parking is difficult on the small village roads. The village is lovely and surrounded by amazing walks. The beach is huge and at low tide, you can walk to Newquay. There is a surf school and a nearby equine centre in Newquay where you can book treks. The village is also served by a shop and two pubs, a pizza restaurant and a good local bus service. It’s a great location for travelling further afield as well as having everything you’d need on your doorstep.

October 2022

Trelyn was a super base for two families ( particularly for those with teens who were going to the Boardmasters festival in Newquay!). The house was largely well equipped and comfortable. The local beach at Crantock and Polly Joke were beautiful. We loved the huge dunes at Crantock. It is worth looking out for the pop up outdoor cinema at Great Western Beach in Newquay for a fun night out.

Holidays in Crantock

Crantock is a beautiful area just outside Newquay and offers everything you need for a holiday by the sea; a beautiful sandy beach, eateries close by and coastal walks on the doorstep.

Situated to the Western side of the Gannel Estuary, Crantock is ideally located for a peaceful holiday, just a stone's throw from Newquay.  Enjoy a relaxing holiday within easy reach of the beautiful beach.

Not far from the beach, you'll find Crantock Village, a small but popular village, dating back to 460 AD, founded by Irish Hermits. The local pub, The Albion Inn, with its fascinating history is well worth a visit. Find out more about it here.

Top tip

Bring your pooches with you because Crantock is super dog-friendly!

Beaches

Owned and looked after by the National Trust, Crantock beach offers a large expanse of golden sands, backed by rolling dunes. The beach stretches between Pentire and West Pentire headlands. To the South, the sands are lined with high cliffs, providing shelter from the winds and to the North lies the mouth of the River Gannel.

At high tide, the Fern Pit Gannel Ferry, 'Sunshine', will take you from the beach across the river; at low tide, a small footbridge will appear allowing you to cross the river for free. The River Gannel is popular with paddle boarders and wild water swimmers.

The National Trust car park has ample space and is free of charge for National Trust members. Dogs are welcome all year on Crantock beach.

Just beyond West Pentire, you'll find Porth Joke beach (also known as Poly Joke beach) a smaller, quieter beach. With rock pools and caves, this beach is perfect for explorers of all ages. The car park is a fair walk away, but well worth the effort for the peaceful sands.

Really nice property like home from home. Everything needed for an enjoyable stay. Comfy beds comfy lounge. Just could not fault the property at all.

Trelyn was comfortable, clean, brilliantly located. Every facility you could wish for was there. Beds, bathrooms really comfortable. Lovely safe garden for the little ones. really couldn't have asked for more. Thanks

We had an enjoyable week at Trelyn as a family of seven with four adults, three children and a dog. There was plenty of space at the property and we appreciated the outside space and two parking spaces. Crantock beach was within east walking distance as was Polly Joke beach. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending Trelyn and we received excellent customer services from Aspect holidays too.

Spent a lovely Christmas at Trelyn. Such a lovely house with room for lots of us. Great location for the beach and village. Kitchen was well equipped to cook a Christmas meal, and loved the fact there was a slow cooker. We all had a great time and the beds were very comfortable too.

The cottage is well presented and well equipped to a high standard. Secure enclosed parking, patio area which lends itself to outside dining. Personally found the cottage had a home from home feeling and it is somewhere we would certainly stay again.
