The Coop, meaning little chicken house, is a lovingly converted barn, once used on the family's farm. Guests will love staying in this beautiful, former farmyard barn, where you literally just nest and rest. Located on the edge of the village of Whitstone, amidst the prettiest traditional Cornish hedgerows and farmland, The Coop has been designed to maximise the light, achieving spacious and airy rooms, which have been equipped at a high level to provide all you need for a relaxing stay. Chill out in the hot tub, on the private and enclosed patio area, and enjoy the calming countryside and surroundings.

The Coop sits on the edge of the family's farm near the village of Whitstone, which is just one mile away, where there are some beautiful walks. There are many pretty walks which can be linked into from fairly close by to The Coop, or just enjoy the hot tub and relax taking in the outdoor vibe and chillax with a cuppa. There is a shared grass area so your pooch is also able to enjoy a grassed area which is enclosed and shared for the use of the adjoining property The Old Egg Shed.

August 2023

I booked The Coop as a surprise 3 night weekend away for my partners 40th birthday. Before arrival I was in touch with the customer services team who kindly arranged to decorate the accommodation to enhance the element of surprise for my partners arrival. The team completely went above and beyond with balloons, banners, a birthday card, box of chocolates and a bottle of fizz. To say my partner was surprised was an understatement. The accommodation itself has been decorated to an amazingly high standard and has all the amenities you'd require for time spent away from home. The hot tub was an added luxury which we made use of as we were fortunate to have some great weather for most of our stay. The Coop is located about 20mins outside of Bude, but we really enjoyed the peacefulness and serenity of being further out. We will most definitely be returning to The Coop for another stay in the future...we really did have the nicest stay. Thank you to the team for making it so special!

Holidays in Bude

Carrying the title of Cornwall’s northern-most coastal town, Bude is perfectly placed to enjoy some of the north coast’s beautiful beaches and coastal walks.

Bude has so much to offer when it comes to things to do, including a fabulous town with a wide selection of independent shops, cafés, and restaurants – not to mention the wildest live music venue in Cornwall. In addition, visitors can meander along Bude Canal, stretch out on one of the many beaches, or enjoy a gentle cruise in a pedal boat or kayak, observing the beautiful area from a different angle. The town is home to the historic Bude Sea Pool and The Castle Bude, both a must if you are in the area.

For those who enjoy walking, the South West Coast Path can be easily accessed from Bude. You’ll be blown away by the stunning scenery and breathtaking views along the coastline – it’s also a great dog-friendly day out!

With so much on the doorstep, it’s the perfect destination for a holiday by the sea!

Top tip

Take a dip in the historic Bude Sea Pool at Summerleaze Beach!

Beaches in Bude

Each with its own character and charm, the beaches in Bude are great whether you’re a swimmer, surfer or sand-snoozer.

Summerleaze Beach – Boasting the iconic sea pool, and only a five-minute walk from the centre of Bude, Summerleaze Beach is Bude’s central hub of sand, surf, and sun. Clean, safe, and easy on the eye, Summerleaze Beach is a big hit with surfers, sun-bathers, and families. However, it’s the sheer variety of activities that mark Summerleaze as arguably one of the best beaches in Cornwall for outdoor pursuits and watersports so definitely swing by if you love a hands-on holiday.

Crooklets Beach – At low tide, you’ll find a huge expanse of golden sand along with lots of rockpools to explore, making it very popular with families. There’s also decent surf and lots of amenities nearby including a beach café for those all-important ice creams and even a skate park.

Widemouth Bay Beach – Stretching across one and a half miles of golden sands, Widemouth Bay is divided into two halves, the North beach and the South beach, separated by a natural barrier of rock known as Black Rock. As the tide retreats, amazing rock formations are exposed - perfect for rockpooling and getting back to nature!

Northcott Mouth Beach – Three miles North of Bude is the small rocky beach Northcott Mouth, which is owned by the National Trust. As the tide drops, the beach opens up to expansive sand with rockpools dotted all around - perfect for exploring with the dog all year round.

Built around 1830, the castle was formally the home of Victorian inventor Sir Goldsworthy Gurney. It’s now a heritage centre with lots of fascinating exhibitions and art galleries, making this impressive feat of architecture an interesting day whatever the weather.

Walks

With lots of stunning walks in and around Bude, walkers will be spoilt for choice when it comes to scenic routes. Head out onto the South West Coast path for dramatic coastal paths or head inland and explore the many walkways, which take you across crisscrossing fields, through woodland trails and even past Bude’s historic aqueduct.

Beautiful stay, exceptionally clean Beautiful interior would definitely stay again, thank you

Beautiful property, lovely surroundings. The owrners where very quick at getting us a fan during the hot weather

I booked The Coop as a surprise 3 night weekend away for my partners 40th birthday. We had a great week at The Coop, it was so well equipped and the quality of everything was great. The welcome pack left for us was really generous and the cottage was spotlessly clean. The hot tub was an added bonus and really enjoyable in the peace and quiet that surrounds the cottage, we will definitely stay again.

Very clean amd nicely furnished everything we needed was there they had thought of everything would definitely go back

Though arriving late, we were able to find and enter the property easily and were welcomed with flowers, cookies, a cream tea AND a beautiful chocolate cake and bottle of bubbly for hubbie’s birthday - WOW - Thank You Dave & Jo and Aspects!! It was so lovely to meet the owners and chat about the farm’s history. They have done a beautiful job with The Coop and its adjacent property The Egg Shed. The Coop was just as described on the website & in the reviews. We had a lovely week relaxing in the hot tub — so spoiled to only take a few steps outside and sink into warm bubbles and listen to the hundreds of tiny birds sing their hearts out! So peaceful. The bed was probably THE most comfortable that we’ve ever had on holiday making it a little challenging to get up & out for a day’s exploration! The parking just outside is a plus. The Wi-Fi is super fast even though in a rural location. The extra throws and cushions really make for a cozy chill with a good book or movie. The kitchen is thoughtfully kitted out with all the little things you’d need for cooking a big breakfast or a romantic dinner. The Bude area is a stunning place to explore. There are plenty of walks for all abilities with great places for coffee or eating out along the way. Our favourite was the Boscastle Farm Shop: stunning views, big car park, gorgeous food all made on-site. Our week away was just what was needed. A big “thank you” to Jo & Dave and to the whole team at Aspects

We found it very welcoming on our arrival. A lovely cream tea, milk in the fridge, lots of doggie extras. Lots of extras too numerous to mention. Kitchen very well equipped and lovely bathroom. Owner very helpful with local information and suggestions. Beautiful decor throughout

A LITTLE GEM….perfect accommodation for a couple. Spotlessly clean with good quality furnishings and nice white bedding and white towels. Nice touch on arrival with a cream tea set up for us along with milk, tea bags, coffee and sugar. Dave & Jo were very friendly and Dave was great with recommendations for places to visit and eat out. Little extras like additional pillow, dressing gowns and ample throws. Would definitely recommend.

A very enjoyable week at the Coop, the owner Dave was very friendly and on hand if we needed anything. We really enjoyed the hot tub and a very comfortable bed. I would recommend the Coop, however a little further from the coast than ideal. But the cottage itself is a 10 out of 10.

We loved The Coop - very comfy with good quality furnishings and linen. Generally quiet at night - loved the hot tub which was great for star gazing. Nice welcome pack too - we enjoyed the cream tea provided.

The adjoining property was empty when we stayed but the shared garden could be an issue if both properties have dogs staying.

Overall, loved The Coop and would recommend.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

Thanks for your feedback and we are delighted to hear how much you liked it there. It is a lovely property that the owners have put a lot of thought into so that their guests can make the most out of their time here. The shared garden is certainly something that may need to be considered if you are bringing your dog with you, so we try to make this fact clear on the website, so that guests can make an informed decision on this. It is a lovely space for dogs to enjoy though and we hope that it was what you had expected. Tanya, Customer Services

The accommodation was exactly as pictured - beautiful, fresh and welcoming. A lovely welcome pack was provided and a pint of milk too! Everything has been thought of to make your stay comfortable and it’s not too far from key attractions - The Eden Project was an hour away. I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay if you’re heading to Cornwall - the hot tub was a great addition too. Many thanks to Dave & Jo, who were the perfect hosts.

Dave and Jo have a few brilliant locations to stop in. They checked in to ensure we were set to have the best time and even gifted us a bottle of bubbly to congratulate us on getting engaged. We’ve stopped in The Fern and The Coop now, both lovely. In the middle of nowhere so quiet nights and excellent star gazing opportunities. Both properties loaded with everything you’d need to be comfortable for your stay. Have already recommended to family and friends.

WOW is the best way to start, if your looking for a 5 star holiday this is it, very peaceful and fantastic for our dog. After a great day out there's nothing better than coming home to chill, out not only in such lovely accommodation/garden but a hot tub you couldn't wish for better. If you ever get to meet the owners Dave and Jo please ask for directions to the local pub "The Stumble Inn" and the catch fraize "5 fields " will come up in conversation, such a lovely couple. Big thanks to them both for everything

Perfect cottage in a very peaceful location. Interior decor and design is clean, modern and high quality. Kitchen is very well equipped. Beautiful bathroom with an amazing high powered shower. The cottage was spotlessly clean. The hot tub was a wonderful treat situated on a private patio. Dave and Jo were the perfect hosts, giving us privacy but on hand to help with any questions we had on local places of interest. Hospitality at its very best! We have already booked for next year!

We enjoyed our long weekend stay at The Coop, a modern and peaceful property. The accommodation was really comfortable and we loved the hot tub! It was easy to get to a number of places. Thank you!

Enjoyed our stay at the Coop Brand new accommodation. Highly recommend. The hosts were very friendly and attentive.

We recently had a long weekend break here at The Coop and only wished it could’ve been longer, what a great place to stay! The property was immaculate, modern and very peaceful. Our hosts Jo and Dave were very helpful and lovely. There was even a cream tea and welcome goodies on arrival for us. It’s also a great base from which to explore so many lovely places. Would highly recommend The Coop to all my family and friends, and would love to come back again x
