Oyston Park Cottage

Oyston Park Cottage is perfectly located, just up the hill from the Bude Canal, and the pretty and vibrant wharf area. Nestled nicely at the end of its own private, brick paved driveway, it enjoys a very pretty, enclosed patio garden, which is the perfect sun trap. The cottage has a homely feel and has been well finished and equipped to produce the ideal seaside town, holiday haven. The living space and bedrooms are all of a generous size and are light and airy with a coastal vibe. The kitchen area has great character and has everything you need to cook up some hearty meals to fuel your action packed days of exploring, new adventures and some chilled relaxation.

Oyston Park Cottage is a super holiday home set in an ideal location and is just a few minutes' walk from Bude town centre where you will find a variety of restaurants, cafes, shops and the larger beaches of Summerleaze and Crooklets. The location here is perfect for everyone, as it's ideal for easy strolls to the beach, the town and the canal side. Whether for fishing within the nature reserve, playing golf, tennis, squash, bowling, visiting the museum or art galleries, all provide you with lots to see and do. The cottage is situated just up the hill from two pubs and all the cafes, eateries and workshops sprinkled along the Bude Wharf area. Oyston Park Cottage is a great base for access to Bude, the coast path and the beech. The cottage itself is on a relatively busy road which can cause issues. The outside area is untidy which makes it a little less appealing to use. Beds are very very soft, which is not my personal preference.

Holidays in Bude

Bude is a coastal town in the north of Cornwall, situated at the mouth of the river Neet. There are a number of excellent beaches in and around the town, such as Summerleaze and Crooklets, as well as Widemouth Bay a little further south.

Bude has so much to offer, including a fabulous town with a wide selection of independent shops, cafes and restaurants. In addition, visitors can meander along Bude Canal, or enjoy a gentle cruise in a pedal boat or kayak, observing the beautiful area from a different angle. The town is home to the historic Bude Sea Pool and The Castle Bude, both a must if you are in the area.

For those who enjoy walking, the South West Coast Path can be easily access from Bude, head south in the direction of Crackington Haven or North towards Morwenstow. You’ll be blown away by the stunning scenery and breathtaking views along the coastline.

With so much on the doorstep, it’s the perfect destination for a holiday by the sea!

Top tip

Take a dip in the historic Bude Sea Pool at Summerleaze Beach!

Beaches in Bude

Crooklets Beach

At low tide, a large expanse of golden sand is exposed, along with rocky outcrops which are great for rock pooling. The beach can be reached by a short walk over Summerleaze Down or down the hill from the town centre. Crooklets is very popular with surfers, but also perfect for families, with great facilities including a large car park, beach café, skate park, showers, and pubs close by. Dogs are welcome on this beach except between 15th May and 30 September, 10am to 6pm when a seasonal dog ban is in place.

Summerleaze Beach

Boasting the iconic Sea Pool, and only a five minute walk from the centre of Bude, Summerleaze Beach is Bude’s central hub of sand, surf and sun. It’s the first port of call for many visitors. Clean, safe and easy on the eye, Summerleaze Beach is a big hit with surfers, sun-bathers and families. However, it is the sheer variety of activities that mark Summerleaze as arguably one of the best beaches in Cornwall for outdoor pursuits and water sports. Dogs are welcome but must be on leads from 21st May to 30th September from 10am-6pm.

Widemouth Bay Beach

Stretching across one and a half miles of golden sands, Widemouth Bay is divided into two halves, the North beach and the South beach, separated by a natural barrier of rock known as Black Rock. As the tide retreats, amazing rock formations are exposed - perfect for rock-pooling!

Northcott Mouth Beach

Three miles North of Bude, is the small rocky beach Northcott Mouth, owmed by the National Trust. As the tide drops, the beach opens up to expansive sand with rock pools dotted all around - perfect for exploring. Dogs welcomed all year round.

Sandymouth Beach

Four miles North of Bude is the National Trust beach, Sandymouth. Backed by sweeping cliffs, this large sandy beach is popular all year round, especially with dog owners as it welcomes dogs year round.

First time booking through Aspect .Very efficient and helpful service.

Beautiful quirky , spotlessly clean cottage in an excellent location . A fantastic relaxing comfy break away with our dog , thank you ??

Oyston Park Cottage is a lovely, light filled cottage, within walking distance of town and beaches. The bathroom has a choice of bath or shower and the kitchen is well equipped. The bedroom was very comfortable, with plenty of storage. Bude itself is a charming town with independent shops for food and gift shopping. There is plenty to do in the area, heading in all directions. All in all, a great holiday, with the intention of returning!

Good location near to beach and centre of Bude. Equipment in kitchen is very good, nice big walk in shower as well as bath. Beds really comfortable, nice sunny aspect to front of cottage. As cottage is right on the road getting on and off drive is difficult.

We had a wonderful time at Oyston Park Cottage. Lovely, cosy little place with everything you need for a perfect break. In an ideal location a few minutes walk to the canal wharf side and beach, with a brilliant pub ‘The Brendan Arms’ at the bottom of the road. We loved it and will be returning next year, thank you.

Lovely, warm and comfortable cottage which is very well equipped. The location was perfect too with a short walk to beach, shops/restaurants and canal. Loved it!!

We had a lovely stay at Oyston Park Cottage. It is well situated for easy access to Bude and everything it has to offer - beaches, canal, coastal walks etc. Definitely recommend.
