Ocean Escape is the perfect holiday home, located centrally in Bude with everything at your fingertips, from oceanic adventures to exploring the town or walking the coast path, an unlimited choice is yours! Ocean Escape is a light and airy town house with many original features, including decorative Victorian cast iron fireplaces in the main bedroom and sitting room. The generous living space is lovely, with patio doors which lead from the kitchen and dining area onto the decking, with outdoor tables and chairs. Featuring 'on trend' contemporary style furnishings, the owners have created a super seaside holiday home to enjoy a happy and relaxing Cornish holiday.

Whether it's preparing some fine cuisine in the well equipped kitchen with some fresh, local produce, or simply relaxing together on the comfy sofas and watching a movie, reading a book or playing a board game, Ocean Escape is the ideal holiday home to make some great holiday memories. With several beaches (including the popular Summerleaze beach with its natural salt-water Bude Sea Pool) all within either a few minutes' walk or a short drive, you will be spoilt for choice. Bude has a number of great eateries and shops to suit all tastes and pockets, or if some tranquillity and stunning views are what you are searching for, there are plenty of breath taking coastal walks and beautiful spots where you can just sit and soak up the scenery. Whatever kind of holiday you desire, Ocean Escape, in the heart of Bude, is a great seaside holiday destination.

Ocean escape was a nice comfortable house and in a peaceful area but only a short walk to the centre of Bude ,with all the comforts of home, we had a lovely time and would return to this lovely house and would recommend it to our family & friends.

Crooklets Beach

At low tide, a large expanse of golden sand is exposed, along with rocky outcrops which are great for rock pooling. The beach can be reached by a short walk over Summerleaze Down or down the hill from the town centre. Crooklets is very popular with surfers, but also perfect for families, with great facilities including a large car park, beach café, skate park, showers, and pubs close by. Dogs welcomed from October to Easter only. 

Summerleaze Beach

Boasting the iconic Sea Pool, and only a five minute walk from the centre of Bude, Summerleaze Beach is Bude’s central hub of sand, surf and sun. It’s the first port of call for many visitors. Clean, safe and easy on the eye, Summerleaze Beach is a big hit with surfers, sun-bathers and families. However, it is the sheer variety of activities that mark Summerleaze as arguably one of the best beaches in Cornwall for outdoor pursuits and water sports. Dogs welcomed on leads from May to September and off the lead any time after this!

Widemouth Bay Beach

Stretching across one and a half miles of golden sands, Widemouth Bay is divided into two halves, the North beach and the South beach, separated by a natural barrier of rock known as Black Rock. As the tide retreats, amazing rock formations are exposed - perfect for rock-pooling!

Northcott Mouth Beach

Three miles North of Bude, is the small rocky beach Northcott Mouth, owmed by the National Trust. As the tide drops, the beach opens up to expansive sand with rock pools dotted all around - perfect for exploring. Dogs welcomed all year round. 

Sandymouth Beach

Four miles North of Bude is the National Trust beach, Sandymouth. Backed by sweeping cliffs, this large sandy beach is popular all year round, especially with dog owners as it welcomes dogs year round.

Things to do in Bude

Bude Castle

A castle built on sand! Built around 1830, the castle was formally the home of Victorian inventor Sir Goldsworthy Gurney. It is now a heritage centre with exhibitions about Bude and Sir Goldsworthy Gurney. 

Bude Bike Hire

Explore the surroundings of Bude on two wheels. A good selection of bikes are available for hire which suit all ages and most abilities.

Bude Sea Pool

Opened in 1930, this partially man-made tidal swimming pool in the rocks of Summerleaze Beach provides a lovely, safe place to swim when the sea is rough, or when it’s calm! The pool is open all year round, but of course depends on the state of the tide! www.budeseapool.org

Surfing and watersports

Based near Summerlaze beach, Bude Surfing Experience provide water sports equipment hire and water sports lessons. Why not give surfing or stand up paddle-boarding a go? www.budesurfingexperience.co.uk

Alternatively, Freewave Surf Academy at Widemouth Bay offers surfing, coasteering and SUP lessons, whilst Big Blue Surf School offers a range of surfing lessons, from complete beginners to advanced.

Santa at Lappa Valley Steam Railway

Board the Santa Express  bound for Santa's magical grotto. On selected dates between the 8th and 24th December, children and their families can take a ride on the Santa Train to his grotto where they can receive a gift from Santa. There will also be children's entertainment, balloon making, Christmas card colouring and mince pies and mulled wine for the adults!

St Pirans Day Celebrations

Gool Perran Lowen - Happy St Piran's Day in Cornish! 

St Piran's Day, celebrated on March 5th, is the national day of Cornwall, named after one of Cornwall's patron saints. According to legend, St Piran, a 5th century Irish Abbot, was thrown into the sea in Ireland tied to a mill stone; somehow he washed up on the Cornish coast still alive. He made Cornwall his new home and became the patron saint of tin-miners after rediscovering tin smelting. 

Today, Cornwall still celebrates St Piran's Day, with various celebrations held across Cornwall.

Boscastle Walking Week

Boscastle Walking Week is an annual event which has grown in popularity over the years. Organised by local people with local knowledge, everyone is welcome to join the organised walks for a small fee of £3-£5.  You'll be guided on some of the most beautiful walks along the Cornish coastline, amid woods and streams and on rambles to secluded waterfalls. Celebrate the history of this stunning scenery as you learn about the famous author Thomas Hardy, who spent a year living in the area.

Bolster festival in St Agnes celebrates the demise of the legend of Bolster the giant. The community re-enact the life and downful of the giant as they parade through the streets and down to the cliffs overlooking Chapel Porth beach.

Padstow 'Obby Oss' Festival

A colourful tradition that takes place on the first day in May in the quaint harbour town of Padstow. The locals decorate the town with flags, flowers, greenery and a flagpole. The crowds are greeted by the swirling and dancing 'osses' who parade through the town, followed by the 'Teazer' who dances along behind. 

Expect lots of dancing, singing and performance.

Santa by Steam

Join Santa and his elves aboard his magical steam train as you journey through the Cornish countryside. Awaiting Santa on the platform, you'll be entertained with carols performed by Liskeard band. On the hour long journey, children will get to meet and greet Santa, recieve a present and have their photograph taken. The grown-ups aren't forgotten either - you'll recieve a mince pie and seasonal drink!

Padstow Christmas Festival
