Absolutely fantastic- spotlessly clean, very comfortable and beautifully furnished, well-equipped, superb location. Simply couldn’t have been better - we are so grateful, thank you. Really appreciated the care that had been taken to make the house work practically and easily - indoor drip tray for wet laundry/ swimming things; outdoor taps and hoses; lighting under coat hooks. Great attention to detail and beds, sofas etc v comfortable, plenty of hot water, efficient heating and double-glazing. Stunning location- great for beach and walking and good bus service too. Fabulous restaurants nearby - don’t miss the Beach House Cafe (10 mins walk) for outstanding fresh fish/ seafood. Also lovely cafe at The Weirs nature reserve, beautiful 2 mile walk inland, near Bude canal walk. Lots to see and do if you enjoy the outdoors. We would love to return!

Holidays in Bude

Bude is a coastal town in the north of Cornwall, situated at the mouth of the river Neet. There are a number of excellent beaches in and around the town, such as Summerleaze and Crooklets, as well as Widemouth Bay a little further south.

Bude has so much to offer, including a fabulous town with a wide selection of independent shops, cafes and restaurants. In addition, visitors can meander along Bude Canal, or enjoy a gentle cruise in a pedal boat or kayak, observing the beautiful area from a different angle. The town is home to the historic Bude Sea Pool and The Castle Bude, both a must if you are in the area.

For those who enjoy walking, the South West Coast Path can be easily access from Bude, head south in the direction of Crackington Haven or North towards Morwenstow. You’ll be blown away by the stunning scenery and breathtaking views along the coastline.

With so much on the doorstep, it’s the perfect destination for a holiday by the sea!

Top tip

Take a dip in the historic Bude Sea Pool at Summerleaze Beach!

Beaches in Bude

Crooklets Beach

At low tide, a large expanse of golden sand is exposed, along with rocky outcrops which are great for rock pooling. The beach can be reached by a short walk over Summerleaze Down or down the hill from the town centre. Crooklets is very popular with surfers, but also perfect for families, with great facilities including a large car park, beach café, skate park, showers, and pubs close by. Dogs are welcome on this beach except between 15th May and 30 September, 10am to 6pm when a seasonal dog ban is in place.

Summerleaze Beach

Boasting the iconic Sea Pool, and only a five minute walk from the centre of Bude, Summerleaze Beach is Bude’s central hub of sand, surf and sun. It’s the first port of call for many visitors. Clean, safe and easy on the eye, Summerleaze Beach is a big hit with surfers, sun-bathers and families. However, it is the sheer variety of activities that mark Summerleaze as arguably one of the best beaches in Cornwall for outdoor pursuits and water sports. Dogs are welcome but must be on leads from 21st May to 30th September from 10am-6pm.

Widemouth Bay Beach

Stretching across one and a half miles of golden sands, Widemouth Bay is divided into two halves, the North beach and the South beach, separated by a natural barrier of rock known as Black Rock. As the tide retreats, amazing rock formations are exposed - perfect for rock-pooling!

Northcott Mouth Beach

Three miles North of Bude, is the small rocky beach Northcott Mouth, owmed by the National Trust. As the tide drops, the beach opens up to expansive sand with rock pools dotted all around - perfect for exploring. Dogs welcomed all year round.

Sandymouth Beach

Four miles North of Bude is the National Trust beach, Sandymouth. Backed by sweeping cliffs, this large sandy beach is popular all year round, especially with dog owners as it welcomes dogs year round.

The property was absolutely gorgeous and is in such a convenient and beautiful location. It was such a pleasure to be able to take our little dog Colin with us, and so good to have a dog friendly beach a very short walk away. It was also great the have dog friendly options for us to go out as a family for a meal. We were super impressed with information book about the house and near by amenities. It was very informative and covered absolutely everything that we wanted to know. We were also really grateful for the travel cot and high chair as there is never enough space in the car to take everything needed for a baby! We had a fabulous holiday and will definitely be booking again.

Lovely, well-equipped house right next to the beach. Very comfortable for a family or group. Would recommend.

Meadow View is a beautifully presented large house for 8, a few minutes walk from Widemouth Bay - a boogie board and dog lovers beach!

We stayed for 1 week and wished we booked longer. A brilliant place to relax and use as a base to discover other villages in Cornwall.

Lovely holiday home, excellent location a couple of minutes from the beach. Several nice restaurants nearby. Spacious well kept accommodation with lovely outdoor terrace. Would definitely return.
