Holidays in Bude

Carrying the title of Cornwall’s northern-most coastal town, Bude is perfectly placed to enjoy some of the north coast’s beautiful beaches and coastal walks.

Bude has so much to offer when it comes to things to do, including a fabulous town with a wide selection of independent shops, cafés, and restaurants – not to mention the wildest live music venue in Cornwall. In addition, visitors can meander along Bude Canal, stretch out on one of the many beaches, or enjoy a gentle cruise in a pedal boat or kayak, observing the beautiful area from a different angle. The town is home to the historic Bude Sea Pool and The Castle Bude, both a must if you are in the area.

For those who enjoy walking, the South West Coast Path can be easily accessed from Bude. You’ll be blown away by the stunning scenery and breathtaking views along the coastline – it’s also a great dog-friendly day out!

With so much on the doorstep, it’s the perfect destination for a holiday by the sea!

Top tip

Take a dip in the historic Bude Sea Pool at Summerleaze Beach!

Beaches in Bude

Each with its own character and charm, the beaches in Bude are great whether you’re a swimmer, surfer or sand-snoozer.

Summerleaze Beach – Boasting the iconic sea pool, and only a five-minute walk from the centre of Bude, Summerleaze Beach is Bude’s central hub of sand, surf, and sun. Clean, safe, and easy on the eye, Summerleaze Beach is a big hit with surfers, sun-bathers, and families. However, it’s the sheer variety of activities that mark Summerleaze as arguably one of the best beaches in Cornwall for outdoor pursuits and watersports so definitely swing by if you love a hands-on holiday.

Crooklets Beach – At low tide, you’ll find a huge expanse of golden sand along with lots of rockpools to explore, making it very popular with families. There’s also decent surf and lots of amenities nearby including a beach café for those all-important ice creams and even a skate park.

Widemouth Bay Beach – Stretching across one and a half miles of golden sands, Widemouth Bay is divided into two halves, the North beach and the South beach, separated by a natural barrier of rock known as Black Rock. As the tide retreats, amazing rock formations are exposed - perfect for rockpooling and getting back to nature!

Northcott Mouth Beach – Three miles North of Bude is the small rocky beach Northcott Mouth, which is owned by the National Trust. As the tide drops, the beach opens up to expansive sand with rockpools dotted all around - perfect for exploring with the dog all year round.

A lovely cottage, very well equipped and beautifully decorated, lots of extras and friendly and welcoming hosts Would highly recommend

A beautifully decorated cottage with lots of little added extras that we have not had provided in other cottages. Great value for money. Provided a really comfortable stay. The location was close enough to Bude for us to walk, so no need to use the car. A lovely garden for our use too. The cottage is next to the hosts thatched cottage meaning they are on hand for advice and help if needed. Highly recommend.

Little Pudnors it’s a lovely holiday cottage. So comfortable and extremely well equipped. It’s in a great location, close to Bude and some lovely beaches.

The property was like a home from home, with many high quality, thoughtful extra touches. The bathrobes, slippers and chocolates on our pillow made it feel like a boutique hotel. The hosts were very friendly but discreet and provided lots of useful information about the local area. Easy access to Bude and the Southwest coast path. Would highly recommend.

Little Pudnors cottage is lovely. Spotlessly clean and well equipped, helpful owners. There is a pretty garden that you can sit out in, weather permitting. It is possible to walk from the cottage into Bude ( up hill on the way back) and there is a pub 2 minutes walk from the cottage which serves good food, but does get quite busy. If you have a car it is easy to get to all the nearby beaches.

We enjoyed staying at Little Pudners,a welcome break in a beautiful area

A stunning cottage for two providing everything you need for a comfortable and stress-free holiday. Lots of little extras and great hospitality from Mark and Michele. Ideally placed, quiet location, but within easy access of Bude, local beaches and the coastal path etc.

Little Pudnors Cottage is an extremely beautiful cottage situated about a mile and a half from Bude town centre, and is designed and maintained to the highest standards. Everything you need to make your stay comfortable and relaxing is provided by the owners who live adjacent to the cottage. The pub situated up the road is also worth a visit. For us, this is possibly the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in.

We had the MOST wonderful time at Little Pudners Cottage - Michelle and Mark were the perfect hosts who made sure we had everything we needed but also gave us plenty of privacy. The cottage is absolutely delightful with all the conveniences and comforts of home that you could need, plus the milk, bottle of wine and scones and jam upon our arrival were greatly appreciated! The village is very quiet which was exactly what we were after as we wanted to have a very relaxed, lazy week - Bude is only about a five-minute drive away and was lovely for evening dog walks on the grasslands and beaches. Can't recommend it highly enough!

On arrival we were met by our host Michelle who gave a warm and friendly greeting. We were given a short tour of the cottage so we were ok with everything and scones and a bottle of wine were left out for us which was nice after a long drive The cottage was perfect with everything we required the parking space was ideal right outside the cottage. Bude itself was a short walk away about 15 mins. Our entire stay was incredible the cleanliness of the cottage was unbelievable along with all it’s contents the bed was so comfortable we didn’t want to get up early The garden we had access to was ideal with a pagoda to sit under. Michelle and Mark our hosts couldn’t be more helpful. Little Pudnors Cottage is a credit to them we will definitely be returning Many Thanks Tony and Louise

The property was spotlessly clean, host was very friendly and provided beautiful Cornish Cream tea on arrival, bottle of wine in the fridge. Every appliance available with washing machine and dishwasher for longer stays. Warm and cosy with central heating. Walk in rain shower. I would say property is possibly suitable for disabled persons depending upon degree of disability. Garden is solely for visitors and includes pond with carp/goldfish ( small children would need supervision) and thatched sun lounge. Superfast internet available (I measured +60 Mb/s). Large smart TV in lounge and another in bedroom. King size bed superbly comfortable with lovely large duvet and lots of pillows. Secluded with old overgrown orchard to rear. Very lively pub 50 metres west from property (recommend fish & chips) and they also do takeaways, and 16th century church 50 metres west. Great spot to access the beautiful countryside and coastline from. Accommodation difficult to beat.

A perfect holiday home to spend time in a delightful setting

My week-long stay met my expectations in every way: well designed, equipped and insulated cottage with garden and gazebo, helpful owners in main, adjacent cottage. Easy access on foot or by car to the glorious South Coast Path and beaches where I had many memorable walks.

We have had the best week at Little Pudners Cottage! The accommodation is absolutely beautiful, finished to such a high standard and the hosts have thought of everything to make this a home-from-home with a luxury feel (robes, slippers, treats on arrival!) The hosts are very friendly and we enjoyed chatting to them. This is a brilliant place to visit with a baby - our one year old loved playing in the garden and was quite comfortable during our stay. We loved the peaceful village location and enjoyed our daily walks into beautiful Bude. It is also a great base to explore other parts of Cornwall. Highly recommend Little Pudners and we really hope to return soon.

Little Pudnors …nr Bude …lovely property…has all the amenities required and perfect for two and a four legged friend ..a lovely pub is just a few hundred yards away which is very handy …all in all …great value for money …book it ..you won’t regret it! Oct 2022

A gem of a property, which is furnished to a very high standard, and a credit to the owners who made us very welcome on our arrival and throughout our stay.

What a lovely property from cleanliness, decor and perfect situation. A perfect base for Bude, exploring surrounding area and beyond. We had a lovely stay and hope to return in the future. Highly recommend!

Lovely cottage, perfect for two of us & the dog. Beautiful decor, warm, comfortable & lovely garden. Owners are lovely & helpful. Short drive in to Bude, pub up the road, great base for exploring Cornwall. But please don’t tell anyone else! ??

This is a little gem of a property, which we can highly recommend. The attention to detail and the cleanliness of the property is a credit to the owners and as a result our stay was most enjoyable. Due to the somewhat indifferent weather we experienced during our stay, we were unable to make full use of the garden, but it is well tended and a joy to look upon nevertheless.

Bude has two beaches and a sea pool which is fabulous. We spent most of our week there as it has everything.

Wonderful hosts! Welcome pack was a lovely treat, milk, butter, homemade afternoon tea, cleaning essentials! Home from home comfort. Beautiful garden! Can’t wait to visit again.

A beautiful cottage with everything you could need. Everything wasspotlessly clean and of a high standard. We arrive with fresh baked scones and clotted cream and afew extras to start us off before we could get to the shops the pub that is a stone throw away was excellent to.i would highly recommend this to anyone. The only thing that would have been nice was a little shelve in the shower to put your toiletries whilst showering but that wasn't really an issue
