Holidays in Bude

Carrying the title of Cornwall’s northern-most coastal town, Bude is perfectly placed to enjoy some of the north coast’s beautiful beaches and coastal walks.

Bude has so much to offer when it comes to things to do, including a fabulous town with a wide selection of independent shops, cafés, and restaurants – not to mention the wildest live music venue in Cornwall. In addition, visitors can meander along Bude Canal, stretch out on one of the many beaches, or enjoy a gentle cruise in a pedal boat or kayak, observing the beautiful area from a different angle. The town is home to the historic Bude Sea Pool and The Castle Bude, both a must if you are in the area.

For those who enjoy walking, the South West Coast Path can be easily accessed from Bude. You’ll be blown away by the stunning scenery and breathtaking views along the coastline – it’s also a great dog-friendly day out!

With so much on the doorstep, it’s the perfect destination for a holiday by the sea!

Top tip

Take a dip in the historic Bude Sea Pool at Summerleaze Beach!

Beaches in Bude

Each with its own character and charm, the beaches in Bude are great whether you’re a swimmer, surfer or sand-snoozer.

Summerleaze Beach – Boasting the iconic sea pool, and only a five-minute walk from the centre of Bude, Summerleaze Beach is Bude’s central hub of sand, surf, and sun. Clean, safe, and easy on the eye, Summerleaze Beach is a big hit with surfers, sun-bathers, and families. However, it’s the sheer variety of activities that mark Summerleaze as arguably one of the best beaches in Cornwall for outdoor pursuits and watersports so definitely swing by if you love a hands-on holiday.

Crooklets Beach – At low tide, you’ll find a huge expanse of golden sand along with lots of rockpools to explore, making it very popular with families. There’s also decent surf and lots of amenities nearby including a beach café for those all-important ice creams and even a skate park.

Widemouth Bay Beach – Stretching across one and a half miles of golden sands, Widemouth Bay is divided into two halves, the North beach and the South beach, separated by a natural barrier of rock known as Black Rock. As the tide retreats, amazing rock formations are exposed - perfect for rockpooling and getting back to nature!

Northcott Mouth Beach – Three miles North of Bude is the small rocky beach Northcott Mouth, which is owned by the National Trust. As the tide drops, the beach opens up to expansive sand with rockpools dotted all around - perfect for exploring with the dog all year round.

Ordinarily, a castle built on the sand might not seem like the best idea, but Bude Castle has really stood the test of time! Built around 1830, the castle was formally the home of Victorian inventor Sir Goldsworthy Gurney. It’s now a heritage centre with lots of fascinating exhibitions and art galleries, making this impressive feat of architecture an interesting day whatever the weather.

Does exactly what it says on the tin! Accommodation is exactly as shown in the photographs. Spacious and comfortable. Excellent location in the heart of Bude.

Would highly recommend.

Below Deck is a perfect choice for a holiday by the sea. Very comfortable accommodation in a great location. We paid for daily parking in the Sainsbury car park just behind Below Deck, it was easy and convenient.

Nice cosy cottage in an excellent location, close to beaches and the town centre. Well equipped, with everything you could want. There is a private outside courtyard and the roof terrace is a great facility, (Maybe not so much in October). Extra bed Linen and towels were provided for our 2 week stay and the welcome pack was wonderful, thank you. Wouldn't hesitate to book again. Only downside, there is no allocated parking, but this should not detract from this cottage; there is some on street parking in the lane outside when spaces are available. We purchased a monthly permit from Cornwall Council for £33 which allowed parking on 4 Bude Car Parks, and information in the property states that extended car parking can be arranged with Sainsburys, which is right behind the property.

We really enjoyed our holiday in Bude and found Below Deck to be very comfortable and convenient for the beach and local amenities. We'd book again :)

Location, Location, Location.

We had a fantastic time at Below Deck. We (family of 3) stayed for 14 days. Below Deck is cosy, yet light and airy. It is decorated very nicely and very well equipped. The seating areas are wonderful and also equipped nicely. Everything is really thought trough.

But the best of all is the location. The beach and the downs are just a little stroll away. Same for the supermarket and the High Street. Parking was no problem too. We parked in the small lane next to Below Deck. It was always free and we were never asked to move.

It really was a perfect holiday. And we will come back for sure.

Myself and my two children (10 and 15) stayed at Below Deck in glorious Bude for a week at the end of June. It is a simply perfect location to access the beach and Bude Town. Below Deck is supremely well equipped, the WiFi is amazing (My Son was still able to play on his Xbox lol). Bags of hot water - the corner bath is larger than any pictures suggest. Heating was available when needed. The beds are so comfy and the towels are the fluffiest ever. Complimentary biscuits, tea, coffee and a pint of milk in the fridge was very welcome. There are steep steps going down to the property, so would not suit inactive people, but with handrails it caused us no issues. Would wholeheartidly recommend! 10/10

Very well equipped and comfortable property. Close to all amenities. Good base for walking coastal path. Wonderful sunsets.

An excellent little hideaway that is furnished as a comfortable home. Parking proved to be less of a problem than we expected and we highly recommend Aspects and this little gem!

Lovely well furnished apartment with Summerleaze and Crooklets beaches on the door step. No parking but found a spot on the service road outside and didn’t move the car for the rest of the holiday, no need in a place as lovely as Bude! We had a fantastic time and would return.

Very well equipped accommodation that is perfectly located. The beds are so comfortable, probable the comfiest sleep I’ve ever had away from home. Unfortunately parking can be problematic.

Below Deck is a lovely cosy place, a 2 minute walk to Sainsbury’s and afew minutes walk to beautiful Summerleaze Beach - a great central location. It is really comfortable for a family of four, with lovely living space, comfortable beds and everything we needed. We would definitely recommend it!

Below Deck is a great, well-equipped place to stay in Bude. Exceptionally convenient for beach, town, supermarket, everything!

Below Deck is a great place to stay in Bude. Close to the beach and shops, the accommodation is very well equipped and clean. Would highly recommend!

Great little apartment in perfect spot.

Lovely to receive wine and scones - a really nice touch,

Thanks for organising the weather too!

Below Decks is a charming flat in an excellent location. Very close to beach, town shops and the lovely amenities of Bude.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Below Deck. We loved the location and the facilities in the home were great. With two young children (2 and 5 years old) I was nervous about the height of the outside terrace and my children being safe but there’s an additional lovely courtyard which is very safe and on the same level as the kitchen and living room, so usable outside area for the kids. All in all a fab place to stay and we’d love to return one day.

Perfect location. Comfortable and relaxing feel. Excellent facilities. Family friendly. Booking again next year!!

We enjoyed our time at Below Deck. The property is in a great location close to beach, town and eateries and there are nice walks from the doorstep, so no need to use your car. The decking area is very nice on warm days and a real sun trap. The beds are comfortable too.

I was utterly blown away with the whole experience! Such a lovely, clean apartment. Compliments to the housekeeper ?? Our every single need was catered for. Fresh scones and a bottle of wine to arrive to. Blankets to use to sit on the terrace. Absolutely everything was there that we could ever possibly wish for! It was incredibly easy to request and pay for an extra night. Literally, nothing was too much trouble for Aspects. Such a lovely lovely company who were easy to get in touch with and made us feel so very welcome from beginning to end. Thankyou so much :)

Excellent & convenient location. We would stay again!

Lovely clean and cosy cottage. Fabulous location.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable and comfortable week in this well equipped and welcoming cottage.
