Mid Cornwall

Book

Snug Barn is nestled on a hillside with stunning countryside views. With a woodburner and a beautiful wooden veranda, this warm and cosy barn will be hard to leave. The central, inland location gives you the best of both worlds; head south and watch the sunrise from the sea at Pentewen, then head north and watch it set over Fistral beach in the evening.

If that sounds too energetic, simply open a bottle of wine, put your feet up by the woodburner, and enjoy the views of rolling hills through the floor to ceiling windows. This spacious barn, with its vaulted ceilings, flows from the contemporary bedrooms, through the modern kitchen to the cosy sitting room and dining area, and on towards the French doors and terrace. With plenty of parking, pets welcome and flexible bed configuration, Snug Barn would suit families or couples alike. Snug Barn is set within a smallholding with farm animals for the family to see and enjoy.

Snug Barn is a lovely property that met all our requirements with a nice enclosed garden which our dog very much enjoyed. The location was good with it only being a 30 min drive to most destinations. Beautiful views and very peaceful. We shut our dog in the dining/conservatory area overnight with a half door which meant we could leave the top half open so we could listen out for him in the night. The owners live in the farm next door and were very welcoming. We had Prosecco and scones (with Jam and Cream) waiting for us upon arrival. The utility room was very useful to hang our wet weather gear (we had a very wet week!) with a washing machine and tumble dryer which we made use of. The bed room with the ensuite was very comfortable as were the sofas. It was very useful to have the gym available on site which I made use of a couple of times during the week. The EV charger was very handy and meant we didn't have to worry about when / where we charged the car. The best place we ate by far was the Queens Head in St Stephen. This is somewhere we would definitely look to return to.

Holidays in Mid Cornwall

Believe it or not, Cornwall’s not all about the coast; there’s some stunning scenery inland just waiting to be explored. Whilst Cornwall is known for its rolling coastlines and sweeping sands, some of the best and most beautiful parts of the county can be found inland. Including quaint villages and country pubs, golden fields strewn with hay bales, woodland walks with meandering streams, rocky moors and heritage mines.

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of winding through country lanes, trees arching above and Cornish hedgerows lining either side of the twisting lanes. Deep in the countryside, you’ll find old Cornish villages, each with their individual characteristics, and usually home to the village pub and church. With interesting names and a unique history, the villages of inner Cornwall differ quite significantly to their nearby coastal villages.

Whether it’s rural farmland, gorse and heather covered moors or mining relics, there’s an abundance of things to do and see. That said, if you do fancy a day at the beach, you’ll never be more than a short drive away from the coast wherever you choose to stay. You’ll also have the added benefit of being close to both coastlines, which whilst very different, are equally beautiful; head to the south coast and discover green hills that roll down to the shoreline, sandy coves and bays and exotic sub-tropical gardens, or explore the north coast, where you’ll find rugged cliffs hugging spectacular beaches and landscape transformed by tin and copper mining.

Did you know...

that Cornwall is so narrow that even our most inland properties are no more than 15 miles from the sea?

Things to do

Truro

Truro is Cornwall’s only city, it’s the most southern city in Great Britain. Truro is easily accessible by Train from a number of stations in Mid Cornwall, such as Redruth, Camborne, Par, and St Austell. This direct line from London Paddington arrived in Truro in the 1860’s. With a selection of high street and boutique shops, it’s the best place to shop in Cornwall. Why not consider booking tickets for a show at The Hall for Cornwall while you’re in Cornwall?

Tehidy Country Park

Tehidy has over 9 miles of paths and 250 acres of woods and lakes to explore. Stop off at the café after your walk for a coffee and a slice of homemade cake. Tehidy was formally the estate of the Bassets, it was sold in 1915.

Retallack Aqua Park and FlowRider

Located at Retallack Resort and Spa, the aqua park is a total wipe out style inflatable obstacle course – perfect for a fun packed afternoon (re-opens Saturday 31st March 2018). Retallack is also home to the county’s only FlowRider, bringing you perfect waves, every day of the week!

Eden Project

One of Cornwall’s most famous attractions, and home to two biomes housing a rainforest and Mediterranean eco system. Visit the Eden Project and you’ll also find sculptures, outdoor gardens, trails and children’s activities, ice-skating (Oct – Feb), Hangloose adventures (including England’s longest and fastest zip wire) and a selection of cafes and bars.

The Lost Gardens Of Heligan

One of the most popular botanical gardens in the UK, The Lost Gardens of Heligan was opened in 1992. The members of the Tremayne Family created the gardens from the mid-18th century to the beginning of the 20th century, the gardens are still part of the family’s estate today.

Lappa Valley

With three trains on site, including a steam train, and many other activities, this is sure to be a delightful day for all the family.

Bodmin and Wenford Railway

With a full size steam train, visit Bodmin’s famous train line to travel through the countryside by steam!

The Camel Trail and the Bissoe Trail

For those feeling more adventurous, try out one of the cycle trails in mid Cornwall for a fun and active way to explore the countryside.

Stithians Outdoor and Active Centre

Try a range of water sports activities at Stithians Lake, from paddle boarding and kayaking, to wind surfing.

St Nectan's Waterfalls

In an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is this hidden gem, a spectacular 60 foot waterfall set into the rocks. Take the time to visit this magical place and explore the woodland walks.

For those seeking an element of culture, there’s a range of different cultural attractions throughout Cornwall, well worth visiting, including: Pencarrow House and Gardens, Lanhydrock House, Bodmin Jail and Poldark Mine.

What a wonderful place to stay in Cornwall. Superb view and outside space excellent for our 2 dogs in the fully enclosed garden. Snug Barn was very comfortable and great for a family of 6. Nice touches with the bottle of prosecco and scones on arrival. Would highly recommend.

Lovely time at snug barn. Has everything you need for a fab holiday. Fantastic views over the countryside and plenty of space for all the family. Lots of lovely touches a very welcome cream tea on arrival and loads of games and toys. Queen's head in the village does brilliant food would definitely recommend it. Very central to travel all over Cornwall Thank you

We had a fantastic week at Snug Barn. 4 adults and 2 children. The location is good for travelling to both coasts. The view is outstanding. The outdoor area is perfect for families. We used the fire pit a couple of evenings. The walk into St Stephen via the short cut through the farm is great - we went to the pub for lunch. Parking is great. The beds are comfortable. Would definitely recommend if you don’t want to be in the busy coastal areas.

The outdoor space is excellent. A large fenced in garden is ideal for family and furry friends to play in and the view is wonderful. Inside, the barn is well maintained and very comfortable for a family of up to six. A little welcome pack was a nice touch. The ONLY thing that I would recommend changing is the en-suite floor, as because of the materials used, it doesn't drain away properly, and leaves little "rock pools" of water that cause musty smells.

We are glad that you enjoyed this lovely property and thank you so much for your helpful feedback. We have been monitoring feedback on the shower since this, and have had further conversations with the property owner who has now confirmed that they will be fitting a new tray at the end of season. Has supplied a brush for now in the hope that this helps. Thanks again and we hope that we will see you back soon. Tanya, Customer Services

This was our second stay at Snug Barn and we are looking forward to going again. The fully enclosed garden was great for our dogs.

The location is perfect for visiting many beautiful Cornish villages, attractions and beaches. The kitchen was very well equipped, we cooked every night, it wasn’t short of anything we needed. The large enclosed garden, safe for kids and dogs, we could close a gate to ensure no one roamed Beautiful easy access walks, 10 minutes to St Stephen’s for a shop, chip shop, and pub all tried Ann’s excellent food and service Vendors were very helpful, with local information. I would recommend to anyone

We were made to feel very welcome and immediately settled in to the warmth and comfort of Snug Barn, which is ideally located for visiting both coasts. The large fully enclosed garden was great for our dogs to get out in and there is a wonderful view of the countryside. All in all a lovely holiday.

Snug Barn was amazing, a definite home from home. Everything had been catered for and the welcome pack was a lovely thought. The garden was enclosed for the dogs and the views were fabulous. Would definitely recommend and hope to return at some point. To be able to walk into St Stephen was also a bonus and the pub in the village served a lovely lunch

Snug barn is a lovely comfortable warm holiday rental. Very central even thou it’s on a farm. Fantastic views. Also the barn is very well equipped and spacious and has a good size tv on the wall.

We had the best week at the snug barn as a family of 3. The snug barn was clean, cosy and In such a good location. We will be 100% booking again for next year!

We loved our stay here! The cottage is beautiful, very clean, spacious and light. It had a lovely homely feel. The gardens were secure for the dog who had a great time! The views were amazing! Ideally situated to go to the north or south coast. Hope to stay here again!

Lovely accommodation great place and location. The children loved the hammock. Will definitely be back.

What a venue. Stunning views, really helpful hosts who are always smiling and even have created a small animals enclosure to see.

The large American fridge-freezer with ice and chilled water dispenser was fantastic but it is hard to ignore the incredible views over the valley whilst having a bbq over a fire pit was simply wonderful.

The bathrooms have limited ventilation and the ensuite has a particularly unusual floor which doesn't really dry out, but a wonderful cottage that brings big smiles to people and dogs alike!

Fabulous house in an amazing location. Simply beautiful inside and out!

We had a fabulous time in Cornwall - the service from Aspect Holidays was spot on, timely and accurate in the information and gave us a felling of being there in the background if we needed them without pestering us at all and leaving us to get on with things.

The property was also very very nice indeed, exactly what we thought we had booked and lived up to all our expectations.

5*

We had a truly amazing stay at Snug Barn, the welcome from the host was so lovely and we even had a cream tea with sparkling wine to welcome us, what more could you ask? The barn is beautifully sited for touring Cornwall and no where was really to long a journey. we also had the added bonus of fantastic weather. Would recommend Snug Barn for a holiday. We had a fabulous time.

amazing views, amazing weather

We had a lovely stay at Snug Barn. Fantastic location, great views and overall an enjoyable stay. Nice place to relax for a week with family. We thought this was great value for money and would certainly recommend to friends and family!

Upon pulling up to the property we were really pleased we'd chosen here. It's stunning views and big garden are great of you're wanting to chill out or have little ones. You're a good distance from both north and south coast and the roads to and from aren't too bad either. Overall we absolutely loved our stay here and would happily stay again :)

Snug barn is perfectly situated for all major areas and amenities in Cornwall. The barn itself is stunning with beautiful views across the Cornish countryside. Well equipped beautifully furnished this place really is a little paradise inside the heart of Cornwall. The owners couldn’t be more helpful and welcoming and adding more animals daly to there small hold makes this perfect for kids and big kids alike. As dog secure as it gets with plenty of garden space for your canine companion I can’t promote this place enough and we will certainly be going back. Thank you for a perfect stay.Debbie Paul and Jackson

We had a nice stay, but Snug Barn is a mixed bag. Not very clean on arrival, and with some strange furnishing choices. The extensions to the barn are nice and the garden is generous and dog secure.

We were sorry to hear that someone had put crockery away that had not been properly cleaned. These were clearly not spotted when the housekeeper done their usual spot checks in the cupboards. Following your feedback, we have asked the housekeeper to also ensure that the bathroom ceiling is wiped down and that the grouting has a good scrub. We have also passed this feedback on to the owner in case the grouting needs further attention. Thank you very much for letting us know. Thank you for also suggesting the alternative furniture placements to us in a separate email, to make better use of the space there. When you stay in the properties, you get to experience them in a different way than we do when we are just visiting them for short periods, so suggestions like this are always helpful. We hope that you still had a great time here. Tanya, Customer Services

The images do not do this place enough justice, it is absolutely beautiful. great location, amazing views and helpful, welcoming property owners. Overall a great experience staying with aspects, i would absolutely recommend.

Another wonderful stay at the tranquil Snug barn. The views are breathtaking, the barn is spacious, spotlessly clean, with everything you could possibly wish for. The barn is so warm and comfortable - a perfect place to relax or return to each evening. We visited a different place each day - there is so much to see and do nearby. The owners are on hand should you need them and so friendly. A perfect stay that catered for ages 15 - 79 years. We will return! Thank you Daniel and Becky for all of the little touches, a lot of hard work has gone into snug barn, making it such a delightful place for your guests. No wonder people return!

For anyone looking for a rural and peaceful location with stunning views and quality Snug Barn is perfect! A home from home and we will return!

Fantastic location with countryside views. Can sleep 7 with a sofa bed. Allows dogs. Big play area that is secure for dogs and children. Spacious front room. 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Its ideal and great value . Been there three times.

We have just arrived home from a fantastic weeks' stay. The cottage is beautifully renovated and provides very comfortable living space both inside and out. The garden is fully enclosed, so no chance of the dog wandering off on her own. Excellent location, lovely views and perfect spot to watch the sun go down. We are looking at dates for our return trip!

Lovely property, everything you need & if the weather is good there's no need to leave the property. Good position to North & South coast. Nice touch of cake & prosecco. Will definitely be going again!

A very warm and cosy barn for a winter holiday. great views and we loved the wood burner. A good kitchen and well equipped. We felt very relaxed during our stay

The directions to this rural property were excellent. The welcome bottle and cake were very well received. The property was so spacious and well equipped. Aspects replied to my questions before we went really quickly and were very helpful and friendly. The slight issue we had whilst away was dealt with immediately. We absolutely loved the location and the property was really comfortable. Plenty of outside space for our dog and little grandson to run around too. A fantastic central location enabled us to visit so many places within a half hour drive. We would love to return and can see why it is so booked. Fabulous! Thank you

We’ve just got back from an amazing week staying at Snug Barn and we really didn’t want to leave!! The barn was absolutely beautiful, very clean and very well equipped. The location was brilliant for visiting all of Cornwall and believe me we did! We’ve put an extra 1200 miles on the car! It felt like a real home from home. The beds are so comfortable with good quality bedding, the kitchen is very well equipped and the wood burner makes everything extra cosy. The view from the master bedroom is gorgeous, a wonderful way to start the day. The welcome gifts of cake and Prosecco were a wonderful touch too. We will definitely be back at Snug Barn in the future. Thank you so much.

Snug barn is a beautiful comfortable property which i can not fault. The views are stunning, quiet location which is central for exploring Cornwall. I would love to live here!! We have just had a wonderful week away in the beautiful Snug barn. The owners have thought of everything. Spotlessly clean, warm and cosy, high spec - you will not be disappointed. Only 30 mins drive to Padstow, Perranporth, Fowey, and Port Issac. Perfect countryside location with a breathtaking view, great to unwind in each evening after a day exploring and coastal walks.

A wonderful barn in a perfect location - the views are fantastic! Easy to get to many of Cornwall’s seaside towns and beaches made for a wonderful week away

We had originally booked for one week, but decided to add an extra day as the property was free. This was done without any fuss by Aspect. The property is very clean, and the setting is perfect for a quiet week away from the busy city life. Daniel & Becky are the perfect hosts - always available for advice or on hand if you have a problem, but never interfere with your time in the barn. All round - perfect!

LOVELY SPACIOUS WARM PROPERTY IN A CENTRAL LOCATION. FANTASTIC VIEWS AND ENCLOSED GARDEN.

Snug barn is a fantastic property to explore Cornwall. The barn itself is clean and very well presented. The views are amazing. We had a fantastic week there and would highly recommend.

Simply fantastic to stay in and we can see why it is so popular for 2019 already.

The cottage is absolutely fantastic the log fire was amazing at night the views looking out over the landscape was so nice. There was nothing that wasn’t thought of Would recommend this cottage you won’t be disappointed

A lovely barn, in a lovely settling. Very relaxing.

A fantastic location with everything you need inside. Great for touring Cornwall or just spending some quiet time with friends and family. Views amazing and so peaceful! Beaches only 20 mins away

Lovely barn conversion overlooking beautiful countryside. Spotlessly clean, well equipped and comfortable - it was everything we had hoped for. A 25 minute walk to the pub and shop in the village and a 20 minute drive to Newquay. Was well located for everything we wanted to do. And a week of nothing but sunshine helped!

Lovely, comfortable accommodation with everything you could need. Lots of outdoor space for children to play . Would definitely recommend.

Amazing property, we had a lovely time. Hotel quality bedding & towels., no expense spared & great comfy beds. Superb views & very private, didn't see the owners until we were leaving, but they are on hand if you need anything. Will definitely stay here again, very cosy & warm.

Relaxing, comfortable accommodation with wonderful views.

A beautifully appointed holiday home. Spotlessly clean, modern yet very homely barn conversion, fantastic location for exploring both North and South coast's. Lovely setting on a hillside overlooking beautiful rural Cornwall. One of the best holiday houses we have stayed at in Cornwall. Would highly recommend.

Snug Barn was just as it was described and an excellent Base to explore Cornwall, thank you very much.

Beautiful barn conversion set on a working farm, very spacious and it had that extra special feel on arrival. Homely, cosy and very comfortable, had a brilliant holiday here with my family and our young son. Very well equipped kitchen and the owners left prosecco and cake for us too which we thought was a lovely touch. Thank you for a wonderful holiday Snug Barn!

A beautiful cottage set in stunning scenery. Location wise it’s around half an hour from Newquay, St Austell, Padstow and the beautiful Charlestown, so ideally placed. Very welcoming owners - thank you for the prosecco and Victoria sponge cake!

Excellent place to unwind, felt totally relaxed. Stunning views. Good base for sightseeing, plenty to see within a short distance.

Snug Barn is a beautiful very comfortable property. We had a lovely week with family and were made to feel very welcome the owners. They have obviously put a lot of thought & love into the property. If you want a beautiful comfortable holiday home then I would defiantly recommend Snug Barn.

Lovely property in a superb country location with amazing countryside views but only 15 minutes from town , will certainly book this property again

We loved everything about Snug Barn, both inside and out. So much thought has gone into this property and it really was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. A perfect base for anyone visiting Cornwall, to explore all that is on offer. The owners Daniel and Becky are wonderful hosts, very friendly and welcoming, we could not have asked or wished for anything more ?? We would not hesitate in highly recommending this property to anyone who is looking for a truly wonderful Cornish experience.

We rent a lot of houses and appartements in different countries, but never had such a beautiful and lovely house like snug burn! Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful... We would have liked to pack it in our suitcase and take it with us!!!

A wonderful place, away from the hustle and bustle, but near enough to the north and the south coast. Very cosy, very high standard property, with beautiful views of the countryside. Would definitely recommend to others. The owners are lovely people.

Snug barn is a lovely family home that we found ideally located, everything we wanted to do was within 30min drive.

We absolutely loved our time at Snug Barn. Very cosy and comfy and the living room was wonderful with a gorgeously comfy sofa to relax in at the end of the day. Stunning views and lovely sunsets. Wonderful kitchen and comfy beds. It was all very spacious and well presented. A lovely barn conversion that we would highly recommend.

An excellent holiday property and a home-from-home. Everything you need has been provided and the comfort, decor and furnishings are above what you would expect. I am hesitating recommending this property only because other holiday makers will want to BOOK it! And that would prevent us coming back to stay again!

Snug barn is an amazing spacious homely barn conversion inside and outside. Suprisenly peaceful too with 3 children who were able to find fun in every corner. We sometimes found it difficult to leave snug barn because we were so relaxed and comfortable. It is sited on a small farm, but this adds to the experience and there is no noise from this. Would 100% reccomed this to anyone!

We loved staying in this property and would definitely consider staying there again. It was central to everything/where that we wanted to visit, so we never had a long drive or had to compromise on the time we spent somewhere to rush back. The property is very spacious and well spec'd out. The owner could not have been more helpful for any little questions we had, completely separate so we always had our own space and was always available to us if we needed. The house they have created from the original barn is exceptional. The recommendations of places to visit in the areas they provided were also perfect - it really showed that they love the area and the home they created. We know they have only recently started letting the property and wish them well. We would wholeheartedly recommend anyone to stay there.

Warm cosy property with great views from dining room. Lovely logburner appreciated as we holiday in February. Beautiful kingsize beds and quality bedding. Booked as ages 1 to 61 and member of party has mobility problems so wet room ensuite excellent. highly recommend.
