Why you should visit Cornwall this Christmas

Blissful, blustery beach walks and roaring pub fires; Christmas craft fairs and village festivals; ice-skating and fairy-tale woodland adventures.

Cornwall’s got Christmas covered.

Whether you’re a family in search of a memorable Christmas holiday, a couple ready for a romantic break or even an explorer in pursuit of an active stay, you’ll find an abundance of things to do and see in Cornwall this Christmas.

There’s nothing like some sparkling fairy lights to get you in the festive spirit, so first stop - head down to the picturesque fishing village of Mousehole and immerse yourself in the beautiful harbour lights. If you can't make it down, you can enjoy them via our live Mousehole Webcam!

For a particularly atmospheric evening, you can join in with celebrations at one of the many light-switch-on events throughout Cornwall. Spectacular lanterns line the streets of Truro for the ‘City of Lights’ parade (due to weather conditions, this event has been postponed until January), while smells of glorious food lure you to the market stalls. Padstow Christmas Festival (7th-10th December 2017) is one not to be missed either – fabulous fireworks light up the harbour and famous chefs deliver cooking demonstrations!

Rogue Theatre - Winter Wood

For a truly magical experience, take a trip to Tehidy Woods and book yourself a ticket for Rogue Theatre’s ‘Winter Wood’. You’ll be guided through winding pathways, between decorated trees and mystical fairy folk. Enjoy music, dance, arts and yummy food!

Reindeer at Gwel an Mor

Not far from Tehidy Woods, you’ll find Santa and his reindeer at Gwel An Mor – a real Christmas treat!

Ice Skating at Eden Project

If you’re looking for something more active, then fear not. The Eden Project offers ice skating throughout the Christmas season. Or, if you’re feeling brave, then join the swimmers at Crooklets Beach, Bude on Christmas day or Charlestown on Boxing Day.

Ultimately… nothing beats a walk on the beach (not forgetting your four-legged friends)! Complete your afternoon with a scrumptious hot chocolate or mulled wine in a cosy pub.
