Holidays in Tintagel

Famous for its Norman castle perched on the rugged north coast of Cornwall, Tintagel is a village steeped in history. With scenery unlike any other, the castle ruins nestled into the coastline give an awe-inspiring, fairy-tale like panorama not to be missed.

Located on the rugged north coast of Cornwall, Tintagel is a truly unique location that must be seen to be believed; ruins of the once powerful castle emerge from the rocky cliff edge, telling a story of times gone by.

After exploring the quaint village, which simply must include a visit to the famous Tintagel Old Post Office, begin your ascent to Tintagel Castle and cross the newly completed bridge, reconnecting Tintagel’s divided landscape.

Did you know...

Tintagel is said to be the birthplace of King Arthur!

Things to do in Tintagel

No visit to Tintagel is complete without exploring Tintagel Castle and the history that encompasses it. In addition, Tintagel Old Post Office is well worth a visit; an atmospheric 14th century building, home to a display of Victorian postal equipment and furniture dating back to the 16th century.

Venture out of the village, and head to St Nectan’s Glen, the sacred site of a sixth century saint. Here you’ll find a magnificent 60 foot waterfall, which cascades into the beautiful valley below.

If you’re in need of a relaxing day at the beach, Bossiney Cove, located just a mile east of Tintagel, has a beautiful small sandy beach.

Walks around Tintagel

Arguably one of most spectacular stretches of coastline along the South West Coast Path, this expanse of coast is wild and rugged. Don your walking boots and head north towards Boscastle, and south to Port Isaac.

Had a lovely stay, cottage was clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for walking and accessing local attractions. Lovely little cottage well suited for a couple. Kitchen was equipped with everything you need.

A lovely stay in Cornwall! Wonderfully near the coast and a fantastic location from which to explore St Nectans Glen - which is absolutely worth a visit. The cottage is on the small side, it was just about OK for us as our children are 8 and 11 but if we had teenagers, I don't think watching TV of an evening or eating dinner around the table together would have been very comfortable. Spotlessly clean, tea/coffee/ biscuits (and Creme Eggs!) were a nice touch.

Lovely little cottage, beautifully decorated and the layout great. Very cosy and clean. Location brilliant. Would definitely return.

Negatives were that the mattresses were very hard and would benefit from a kingsize bed instead of double. Also courtyard parking a little tricky if all cottages occupied or for large vehicle.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We're so pleased to hear you loved your time at Heather Cottage, enjoying the beautiful countryside location. We are sorry that you found the bed uncomfortable; it can be very difficult to find a mattress that will suit everyone and it is disappointing to hear that it was not to your preference. For now, we will monitor comments to keep an eye on guest preferences over the coming months. We haven't received any other comments regarding the courtyard parking before, but we will certainly keep an eye on this too. Katy, Customer Services.

We spent 6 nights in Heather Cottage and were not disappointed. Was all we could hope for in a holiday cottage. Great location, quiet, well kept and looking fresh. Well equipped with kitchen equipment too for cooking. Great customer service from the Aspects team too. Available to answer any questions we had and were more than happy to help. Special thanks to Jules, Katie and the team.

Heather Cottage was perfectly placed for our relaxing mid-week break to discover north Cornwall, located moments away from Tintagel and Boscastle. The cottage was well equipped and provided everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. It was our first booking with Aspects Holidays and we'd definitely recommend their service to others.

We had a fantastic holiday near Tintagel recently.

Heather cottage was perfect for the holiday we had planned ,perfectly located in a very picturesque part of Cornwall. Really easy access to some excellent walks , especially close to some beautiful secret coves where we could walk to the ocean, Nectans Glen was amazing and we finished off the end of each day with fantastic local ice creams!!

The kids felt right at home and it became our second home for 10 days.

We definitely recommend and will definitely visit again .
