Perched on the mighty cliffs of Porthleven Beach, Chy an Mor is undoubtedly one of the best places to sit and watch the ocean waves roll in. With more sea than sky on view, this sleeps two, reverse level, property has uninterrupted vistas of the glorious Cornish coastline as far as Mullion and Mousehole, across Mounts Bay. Relax and admire the seas' kaleidoscope of colours from the stylish sitting room. Or if you would prefer, soak up the sunshine from the balcony, or outside terrace, with a glass of something cool and crisp, whilst you watch the surfers ride the waves and the ships pass by.

Take a short stroll in to the village and enjoy a long leisurely lunch or delicious dinner in one of the countless restaurants and cafes Porthleven has to offer. However, if a quiet night in with a good book is more your thing, you can snuggle up on the sofa after a long day exploring all that Cornwall has to offer. This property is all about the location and view which is amazing and just like the pictures. But the bed is very comfortable, nice hot shower. The parking space is a huge bonus too. It’s just a short walk downhill to the harbour. Porthleven is great and we have booked to come back next year

We had a lovely 2 weeks in chy an mor , the location was amazing , even in February we managed to sit on the balcony and enjoy the breathtaking views, the cottage was clean , comfortable and well equipped, it is in the quiet part of porthleven but only a short walk to the harbour , we absolutely loved it and can imagine how it must be in the summer months , watching the sunsets were spectacular , the welcome pack including a nice bottle of wine was much appreciated after our long drive down , we really hope to be back again soon .

Holidays in Porthleven

Whatever you love about Cornwall, we’re sure you'll find it while enjoying a holiday in Porthleven. Relax and enjoy the boats bobbing in the harbour, pull on the walking boots and join the coastal path to Rinsey and Praa Sands, take a short drive to nearby Marazion and the iconic St Michael's Mount, or hit the waves and surf until sunset.

This charming fishing town has a relaxing atmosphere; it's gorgeous in the Summer and dramatic during the Winter. The granite harbour and pier with its famous clock tower has become an iconic storm-watching spot during wild wintry weather and offers a tranquil setting on calmer days.

Take a short break out of season in Porthleven and avoid the hubbub on the roads and beaches. Soak up the sun on the harbour front and watch the fishing boats pass by. Catch the first glimpses of colour from the acres of Cornish daffodils in early spring with the sea as a back drop as you drive from coast to coast. With easy access to the coastal footpath, head east to discover Gunwalloe Fishing Cove, Polurnan Cliffs and Mullion Cove or head west and marvel at Praa Sands, Perranuthnoe and Marazion. 

Take a short walk from Porthleven and reach the coarse sand of Porthleven beach, reaching two miles south as far as Loe Bar, a sand spit separating the sea and forming Loe Pool, the largest freshwater lake in Cornwall.

Porthleven harbour is an enjoyable place to relax, with its cafés, pubs and restaurants providing the perfect place for you to sit outside and watch the world float by!

Porthleven Food & Music Festival

With over 10,000 visitors each year, the festival is popular with visitors and locals alike. It celebrates Cornish food producers, with demonstrations, live bands, street performers and with free entry, it's the perfect family day out. This years event takes place on 26th April. If you enjoy exploring the great outdoors, mountain bike hire is available from our friends over at Porthleven Cycle Hire. There’s a variety of scenic cycling routes in the area, all offering different levels of difficulty, and most offering great coastal views.

There are ample walking routes in and around Porthleven with beautiful landscapes to explore and varying degrees of difficulty. If a gentle stroll is more your cup of tea, enjoy meandering around the iconic harbour and pretty streets. With such a variety of fishing spots in the area, you’ll be spoilt for choice when staying in a holiday cottage in Porthleven.  There’s an angling centre nearby to stock up on tackle and bait before heading out, and Loe bar is just a short walk from Porthleven itself, which offers great beach fishing. Bass fishing is popular in this area and guided fishing trips are available from Porthleven too. With many other popular sea fishing and course fishing spots in Cornwall you’ll be able to try your luck at a variety of places without having to travel too far.  

Birdwatching

Behind Loe bar is Loe pool, the largest freshwater lake in Cornwall, and is a great place to enjoy birdwatching. Surrounded by woodland, it’s a great place to go walking and enjoy the Cornish scenery.

What a wonderful place to stay! We were absolutely thrilled with the property and its location. The perfect place for relaxing and exploring. Plenty of places to eat in the harbour and lots of shops and galleries to enjoy.

Chy an Mor is a beautiful cottage set in the most stunning location possible. It is such a joy to sit on the balcony and watch the waves, especially when it's stormy. We had another lovely week in Porthleven and will definitely be returning to this special place, as we do every year.

Ideally placed for a restful and relaxing time. Enjoyed the fantastic views. Short walk to the nearest pub ( Atlantic Inn ). Plenty of places to eat and especially Amelia's and Kota Kai were great. Not forgetting the cream teas! Will definitely return. Bridget and Chris.

The view was fantastic, the cottage was very clean and tastefully decorated. We loved walking down to the harbour and all the pubs and restaurants that are there. Lovely shops too.

2023 is the third time we have stayed at Chy an Mor, and we have booked again for next year. It is a real gem to stay in. Clean, comfortable and welcoming. We love being able to chill out, relaxing, on the balcony or terrace. Porthleven harbour, with its shops, pubs and restaurants is a 10 minute walk away. Chy an Mor overlooks the beach, again a short walk away. Coastal walks are on the doorstep. We have really enjoyed our stays here.

Amazing little gem of a place for a great holiday so close to the sea just lovely sitting on balcony starting at the horizon, place was lovely and clean on arrival with a nice bottle of red, will be back again, thank you.

We really like this holiday home, especially the two terraces. We could watch the sea and the activities in the sea and on the beach at breakfast every morning. We swam in the sea in May! This is our 2nd stay in this little house and we will do it again. There is everything you need for a holiday, and the location is superb, so close to everything in Porthleven and it's wonderful restaurants. Lovely walks from the house, perfect.

Beautiful little cottage for two people. Can’t beat the view from the balcony on a sunny day and your own parking space is a bonus. Will definitely return, our new favourite cottage in Porthleven!
