Holidays in Porthleven

Whatever you love about Cornwall, we’re sure you'll find it while enjoying a holiday in Porthleven. Relax and enjoy the boats bobbing in the harbour, pull on the walking boots and join the coastal path to Rinsey and Praa Sands, take a short drive to nearby Marazion and the iconic St Michael's Mount, or hit the waves and surf until sunset.

This charming fishing town has a relaxing atmosphere; it's gorgeous in the Summer and dramatic during the Winter. The granite harbour and pier with its famous clock tower has become an iconic storm-watching spot during wild wintry weather and offers a tranquil setting on calmer days.

Take a short break out of season in Porthleven and avoid the hubbub on the roads and beaches. Soak up the sun on the harbour front and watch the fishing boats pass by. Catch the first glimpses of colour from the acres of Cornish daffodils in early spring with the sea as a back drop as you drive from coast to coast. With easy access to the coastal footpath, head east to discover Gunwalloe Fishing Cove, Polurnan Cliffs and Mullion Cove or head west and marvel at Praa Sands, Perranuthnoe and Marazion.

Take a short walk from Porthleven and reach the coarse sand of Porthleven beach, reaching two miles south as far as Loe Bar, a sand spit separating the sea and forming Loe Pool, the largest freshwater lake in Cornwall.

Porthleven harbour is an enjoyable place to relax, with its cafés, pubs and restaurants providing the perfect place for you to sit outside and watch the world float by!

Top tip

Like storm watching? Visit in winter and you may be lucky enough to experience huge waves crashing over the clock tower!

Great property location within a few minutes walk of the harbour. Lovely open plan living room with sea views. Bedrooms were comfortable but furnishings could be improved.

Great property in Porthleven which is a lovely unspoilt seaside village with plenty of restaurants, cafés,bars and pubs around the working harbour. The house is well decorated and equipped with good outdoor space off the kitchen/living area. The bedrooms are quite snug and storage is limited, but they are nicely decorated and the showers are good. There is also a deep bath in the main bathroom. There is a gate at the top of the stairs at the entrance to the first floor kitchen/dining/living area, which was important as we were on holiday with a 1 year old and the stairs are quite steep.Anyone with small children might also want to be aware that there is a low stone fireplace in the living area which is a bit of a toddler trip hazard - we put our beach towels to good use to cover up the edges - and although the outdoor space is fairly well secured you will need to keep any little ones under close supervision. That said, we had a lovely week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rock House.

Beautiful house for a break with extended family. However you need to be aware that the house is halfway up a steep narrow road at the back of the harbour. Not really suitable for any family members with mobility issues. Car parking is available on a small piece of open land near the top of the hill.

We are glad that you enjoyed your time here at the very lovely Rock House. Most of the traditional Cornish fishing villages are known for the steep hills that come with such locations, so it is something that is not specific to Rock House, but something to bear in mind when booking any property in such a location. The bookings team are always happy to answer any questions and discuss the suitability of any property before booking, so please do not hesitate to contact us. Tanya, Customer Services

Absolutely beautiful house in a fabulous location, the only downside is that there are no wardrobes if I was to be picky but would definitely book again.

We enjoyed a wonderful weekend at Rock House which is superbly situated and has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The space in the house has been cleverly maximised to provide ample accommodation for a party of up to 8 adults, we also had a young baby with us and the attention to detail like the non removable stair gate was a welcomed touch. We can’t wait to get back there!

Great holiday cottage, open social space, great for big family get togethers, lots of room and well thought out space.

Had a lovely time here … great place to be … will book again ..

Absolutely matched description Perfect location Plenty of space to give everyone time out on own if needed. Loved eating family evening meal around table & talking about what everyone had done on the day. Definitely a 5•

Very comfy beds but no wardrobes except in one of the bedrooms so bring plenty of coat hangers with you to hand your clothes on from the hooks provided minutes walk to beach, pub, cafes and harbour excellent showers in all bathrooms no outside parasol so bring your own if you want some shade on the outside terrace

We enjoyed our stay at Rock house, very roomy and in a good spot. Please be aware only one bedroom has a wardrobe. The other three just hooks, with no hangers, be a good idea to bring some of your own. Beach nearby and short walk down to the harbour and shops. Brilliant food at the Ship Inn especially the fish and chips.

Rock House is simply wonderful! The proximity to the beach and all local amenities is ideal, and we were delighted that we were able to take the dog on the beach during our stay in June.

The cottage is furnished and decorated to a high standard and is extremely well-equipped. A real home from home. Although no parking is available on site there is a free car park a short walk up the hill and during our stay we never had any difficulty in finding a spot.

I can thoroughly recommend this beautiful cottage for a peaceful, relaxing stay in a lovely area of Cornwall.

Great property and location and will be back again next year!

Lovely well equipped house in a convenient spot in Porthleven. Highly recommended.

Rock House is the perfect location for larger groups wanting to be by the sea. Minutes from the sea and town, meant we could leave the car behind for a walk on the beach or a trip to the pub. Rock House is beautifully furnished and well equipped - spacious bedrooms, comfy beds and a stunning living area. The outside space was fantastic for having a drink while the sun went down.

We really enjoyed our stay at Rock House and have already rebooked for next year. It’s in a great location giving the balance of being close to the amenities but also on a quiet road. The accommodation is well thought out with bedrooms downstairs and living space upstairs affording lovely views and access to a great decking area at the back. Parking is a challenge close by but there are car parks a short walk away.

Rock House was a delightful property, a real home from home! The decor and furnishings were beautiful and so tastefully done. A compliant to the owners. We really enjoyed our stay there and could of stayed longer. The weather was not great but having a Friendly pub up the road and log fire was just lovely. A quiet week, but close enough to go and watch the stormy waves.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rock House and Porthleven and the surrounding area of the Peninsula and beyond provided an idyllic escape from the stresses of everyday life at present.

The house itself is very comfortable and the logburner in the lounge is a real treat at the end of a long walk in the fresh air.

Despite our initial concerns about parking, we actually never had an issue finding nearby on-street parking - it was actually the perfect excuse to visit The Atlantic Inn after a day out exploring the stunning coast and countryside within easy reach.

We look forward to retuning again!

really comfortable sociable house.

We really enjoyed our stay in Rock House. we were a family of 4 adults and 1 child. the area has so much to offer and the location of the house meant its a short walk to the beach and the harbour but away fro any noise.there was plenty of space for all of us and we would definately reccomend.

Rock House is simply gorgeous. We spent Christmas week there and it was absolutely perfect. It is beautifully furnished and so well equipped. The bedrooms are fantastic, the beds are comfortable and the ensuites are so clean and modern. Location is superb, practically on the beach and just a couple of minutes walk into the lovely little harbour with its shops and cafes but far enough out to be so quiet at night. Amazing sea view as well. Loved every moment and so didn't want to come home. Would not hesitate in recommending and hopefully will return.Thank you Aspect Holidays for a truly amazing Christmas.

We had a wonderful time staying in Rock house . The property is stunning and takes full advantage of the sea view. Every detail was covered and exceeded expectation.

The house was beautiful. Nicely finished and well looked after. All of the things we needed for a holiday in Cornwall. The location is great, its close enough to Porthleven to be able to walk with a 2 year old, but far enough out to be quiet in the evening. Great views from the living room of the sea too. Great house, will definitely be returning!

We had the most amazingly holiday. The customer service from Aspect Holidays was exceptional. The Rock House is gorgeous, the attention to detail is fantastic. Can’t wait to come back
