Holidays at The Wharf

Many of our cottages at The Wharf overlook the working harbour of St Ives. Here you'll find fishing boats, a gorgeous sandy beach and in the summer season you can take advantage of the boat trips on offer. Home to The RNLI, The St Ives Lifeboat Station is close by and is a popular attraction with tourists.

The Wharf, otherwise known as St Ives harbour, is a hive of activity throughout the year. With a continual hustle and bustle on the water and along the harbour front, there is always plenty to do and see while self catering at the Wharf, even at the quieter times of the year.  It’s an ever changing scene so perfect for those artists among you. Don’t forget about the very sheltered, sandy Harbour Beach, a perfect sun-trap in the heart of town and a great place to find seaglass and sea pottery! As night falls at the end of another perfect day, St Ives comes alive with a selection of bars, restaurants and cafés to suit every pocket and every taste in a truly cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Top tip

Be careful of the seagulls when eating at The Wharf.

Things to do on The Wharf

Boat Trips

Why not enjoy the scenery by boat and explore the coastline with an excursion with St Ives Boat Trips. Fishing trips are available for those looking for a bit of adventure, or for a more relaxing experience, a visit to seal island lets you see seals basking on the rocks at certain times of year.

Eating and Drinking

The Wharf is home to a wide selection of restaurants and cafes, serving up fresh fish and chips to gourmet burgers, with something to suit everyone. Enjoy an ice cream or Cornish pasty and watch the world go by on the harbour front, but remember to keep your wits about you; seagulls in St Ives are renowned for swooping in and stealing food right from your hands!

Smeaton's Pier

From here you'll get a stunning view of the harbour, and an up close view of the crystal clear waters. At the entrance to the pier you'll find St Leonard's Chapel; originally dedicated for local fisherman, it is now a museum and memorial for the fisherman of St Ives.

Lifeboat station

Home to the new £1.5 million lifeboat, the RNLI lifeboat station is a popular attraction for visitors to St Ives. The gift shop next door sells souvenirs where all profits go towards helping to save lives at sea.

Our third time of staying. The perfect location.

A real privilege to be able to stay in such an historical property. Spotlessly clean throughout. Incredible views and so wonderful to fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the waves. Would definitely stay again.

Quaint cosy cottage in a fabulous location. Direct beach access a real delight Aspects staff friendly and efficient Will definitely return

A beautiful house that never fails to provide a cosy space to escape from it all. We love 1 Quay Street.

1 The Quay is the perfect retreat for relaxation and calm with amazing views of the harbour. Most mornings we enjoyed lying in bed watching the boats bob about on the sea. The decor has a rustic, bohemian charm. Very clean and great facilities. It was a real treat to walk straight on to the beach.

We've booked Aspects every year for the last 12 years and they never disappoint! The welcome hamper and card was a special treat and a lovely touch. They are always on hand if any issues and action swiftly. I would highly recommend this property and Aspects...the best booking agency in cornwall! ?? we've already booked our stay for next year with Aspects!

Lovely cottage in a perfect location but it has steep stairs and bathroom is on the ground floor and the bedroom is on the top floor, so not suitable for everyone. The back gate opens onto next doors private terrace, which requires some diplomacy! None of these issues would prevent us from booking again, but it’s worth being aware.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

The layout is something that some will want to consider before booking. Like many of the old traditional fisherman's cottages, they can often come with quite quirky layouts, so we try our best to make this clear on the website photos and descriptions, but the bookings team are always happy to answer any queries on this before booking. The back gate opens onto a terrace, but it is a shared access area to the beach which all guests are allowed to use. We are glad that you enjoyed it all and hopefully we will see you back here again. 1 Quay Street is a beautiful quaint cottage in the perfect location. You can step out of the kitchen directly onto Harbour Beach. We loved sitting in the window watching the changing tides.

The property has steep stairs, so wouldn't be suitable for everyone.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are glad that you liked it. You certainly don't get much closer to the beach than this! Being a traditional fisherman's cottage, something that St Ives is famous for; it is very typical of this type of property to have quite quirky layouts ands steep, narrow stairs. We try to make this as clear as we can on photos and within the website description, so we do hope that the stairs were what you had expected. Thank you for your useful comments, which will help to better highlight this to help others make an informed decision on the suitability of this property for them. We hope that we will see you back here again one day. Tanya Customer Services

Loved staying in the cottage! So cosy, perfect location, lovely place to stay. Booked for next year!

Great location and a very sweet comfortable little cottage overlooking the harbour

Stunning property in a beautiful location. Exceeded our exceptions. Looking forward to returning.

Abso Devine cottage to stay in. It’s exactly what is in the description and more. We will definitely be staying at there again.

Perfect in every way, our second holiday here and i hope to return

Lovely cottage with perfect view of the harbour beach, very comfortable and well equipped. Lots of stairs to manage, so would not suit people with poor mobility. Perfect for two people.

Perfect getaway, loved being so close to the sea and perfect location for enjoying what St Ives keeps giving!

1 Quay St...great location with the best views. Lovely comfy king-size bed, great shower and tv with access to Netflix and Prime for those rainy days Please read the details carefully. Bathroom is 2 flights of steep stairs from bedroom. No wardrobe hanging available nor long mirror. Kitchen on ground floor and lounge on middle floor. Sofas comfy but very low. Not a place to stay if you have mobility issues.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We appreciate that the layout and steepness of the stairs in this traditional and characterful cottage will not suit everyone, so we try to make all of this as clear as we can on the website description, and we hope that this was what you had expected. We hope that you enjoyed your time here in one of the most enviable locations in the town, and hopefully, we will see you back again soon. Tanya, Customer Services

Fantastic Cottage in a wonderful location - please note that their are lots of stairs to cope with

Location is sublime

Fantastic location which is the overall selling point of this property. Nice, cosy lounge with beautiful views across the harbour. On arrival, cottage was cold and the heating wasn’t on. Took us a while on how to work out how to use it after obtaining 3 heaters from the office. Would’ve been nice to have tea, coffee, milk etc to start us off on arrival. I appreciate COVID however all of these items are usually sealed and would’ve been appreciated after a 5 hour journey. The bathroom is far from perfect and to be honest looks a little bodged. Light not in fitting correctly in the ceiling, water drains very slowly from the shower tray and the shower temperature was never above tepid. The kitchen is also a little badly fitted, doors not flush etc. Overall cleanliness not to our standard. We cleaned the kitchen floor when we arrived as it was covered in grease. Also dusty in the lounge. With some improvement could be a fabulous little place.

We were so sorry for that start to your holiday. We have spoken to this owner's housekeeper, and he apologised for not leaving the heating on for you and forgetting the welcome pack. Now being aware, we will get him to check the light, unblock the shower trap, and we will monitor further feedback on the standard of cleaning there and pass on your other comments to the property owner for their consideration. Whilst the style of decor and furnishings is not to everyone's taste, the owners usually keep everything well maintained, so if there are any adjustments needed to cupboards etc, we are sure that will be addressed. Thanks for letting us know and we hope that you still had a great time here. Tanya, Customer Services

Our holiday in St Ives in January was lovely and the location of the cottage was perfect and lived up to the description on the website. When we had a minor problem, the service from Aspects was excellent as always. We have booked holidays in Cornwall with several companies over the years but Aspects is now our first choice every time.

Quirky cottage that met our needs but won’t suit everyone because the stairs and doorways require full mobility

Reply from Aspects Holidays

This property is certainly packed full of character and charm, but it's quirky layout, being set over 3 floors with steeper stairs than what many will be used to in more modern properties, may not suit all party members. For those who are ok with the steps, doorways, and layout, we hope you will agree, it is well worth it to experience the fantastic character, charm and hard to beat location of this property. Please do not hesitate to contact us to check on the suitability of any property before booking. Tanya, Customer Services

Lovely cottage, right on the beach.

We enjoyed a lovely stay at 1 Quay Street. We think this is a fantastic cottage with amazing views! It was great to be able to watch the tide go in and out and relax. Cute cosy cottage with shabby chic furniture which gave it a homey feel. We’d love to stay here again one day!

perfect , warm and cosy ,

Our stay in 1 Quay street enables us to enjoy everything about St Ives.

Excellent view and location. Well equipped kitchen.

Really enjoyed our stay at this house. Fantastic location with views over the harbour from both the living room and master bedroom. Direct access to the beach from the rear is also very useful, you can set up an area on the beach straight outside. Made use of the the multi room music system which was great. So convenient for both the beach and direct access to the harbour and town as well as the towns surf beaches.

The property is in an amazing location virtually on the beach although in the heart of the town. The fittings and decor are of a high standard and helps make the property very homely. It is also very good for fitness as you are navigating two narrow flights of stairs to manoeuvre around the property.

The cottage is in an excellent location. Stepping out of back gate onto beach was an added bonus. Within easy reach of all that St Ives has to offer. Would highly recommend. Dawn & Lee from Nottingham

Quay street is a fabulous house for those wanting a holiday at the beach and in town without the need of a car. We had a stress free stay by taking the train from London to St. Ives. The house is within short walking distance of some fabulous beaches as well as the backing onto its very own town beach, which to my surprise was a lovely sheltered bay with soft sand. We got very lucky with the weather, it was like being in the 'Med' despite the weather apps saying the opposite! The house is great and the main bed is super comfortable. The kitchen is really well equipped. Giving an honest review I would say the only downside is the bathroom is downstairs so a bathroom visit in the night requires a trip but you cannot blame the house for that, they have really made the most of the limited space. The courtyard garden with the gate onto the beach is a great addition, my only criticism being that the garden table and chairs need replacing. We have already booked to return next year.

Perfect little cottage right on the beach , very comfortable and cosy Welcome pack containing local goodies was great Would recommend this cottage and Aspects holidays Everything was easy and trouble free from start to finish Would stay there and use this company again , fully recommend

Amazing location, Fabulous property, Loved it Dont tell too many people I will never get in again !

After waiting 20 years to return to St Ives we were delighted with 1 Quay Street. An excellent location, amazing light flooding the cottage, comfortable living and sleeping areas, well equipped kitchen. And a sitting out area right next to the beach. Why did we wait so long?!

Our recent stay at 1 Quay street St Ives was by far the most amazing week We have ever had at St Ives and We have stayed in St Ives many times. The cottage is situated right on the beach and offers the most stunning of outlooks. We have booked it again for next year as we would never tire of this superb accommodation

Excellent property in the perfect position. Hope to stay again.

A wonderful cottage with the most amazing views from the bedroom and living room. It was very comfy and cosy for a December holiday. The gate onto the beach is an added bonus and I can imagine is brilliant for holidays in the summer. The location is brilliant and it puts you right in the middle of St Ives town. Definitely reccommend!

Beautiful comfortable cottage in a perfect location. Highly recommended.

Short but fantastic stay at 1 Quay St. A perfect harbourfront location with views out to see from all the rooms and direct access to the harbour beach, as well as easy access to all the great scenery and amenities that St Ives has to offer. A very cosy stay in stormy weather and the house had everything we needed. Thanks !

We had an absolute fantastic stay because of the location and the property is aged and quirky ..and we respected that and what it entails ..it is excellent and the views are just so beautiful every hour of the day . The harbour beach is outside your back gate and your right on the harbour from the front door ...hopefully you will be outside most of the day too as the comfort and the cleanliness of the soft furnishings and sofa downstairs leave a lot to be desired .. We don’t mind shabby chic .....just not shabby !! . Everywhere else is absolutely fine though bed was clean and comfortable and kitchen had everything you need Feed the little birds on the tree outside the kitchen if you stay too ..they became good friends of ours .....

We are glad to hear how much you enjoyed the amazing location and quirky character of 1 Quay Street. You certainly can't get much closer to the beach than this! We were sorry to hear that the sofa had become stained and uncomfortable. Having received this feedback and now having had the opportunity to check it over, we are pleased to report that the owners have ordered a new one, which will be in place very soon. We are glad to hear that everything else was exactly as you had expected and we hope to see you back again soon. Tanya, Customer Services UPDATE: THE SOFA HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED

Lovely harbor views and access to the beach

Amazing location. We had a fabulous time looking out of the windows, watching the dogs play on the beach, the tide changing and seals in the harbour. This is a view that you would never tire of. Stepping out of your back door and sitting on the beach is a massive bonus. Wherever you go out into town, you are always a few minutes away from the property.

Quirky property not suitable for the elderly as well as children.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

Thank you for your comments. 1 Quay Street is certainly a quirky place, with loads of character and an enviable spot right on the harbour front. Being a traditional cottage right in the heart of the town, you will often find that they can be a little smaller, with layouts/stairs more quirky and steeper than in more modern buildings, so it is definitely an important consideration when booking a property like this, and with this particular property, as stated in the description, regretfully children are not allowed, due to the size and suitability of the layout. We hope that you enjoyed everything that this fantastic location and cottage had to offer. Tanya, Customer Services

A lovely cottage right on the The Harbour beach and only a short walk from several others. Being on the sea front the bar’s and restaurants are right on the door step.

I would recommend Aspects and 1 Quay Street its location is superb, right on the beach with the sea almost to the back door. Waking up and seeing just the waves lapping on the beach. It’s a quaint fisherman’s cottage with steep open stairs, not for the faint hearted or children.

The holiday was fantastic. The cottage was perfect. The location was ideal. The service from Aspects was first class. We will be booking with Aspects again.

We always enjoy our stay in St Ives with Aspects they are always very helpful and the places are of a high standard! We look forward to finding our next cottage for next year!

St Ives is great and we will recommend 1 Quay Street to our friends and family.

1 Quay Street, fantastic location, lovely cottage. Aspects holidays were very helpful and friendly. To wake up with the sea appearing to be almost to your window is magical. Thank you

The most perfect location directly on to beautiful golden sand. When the tide came in, quite often harbour seals came with it. The joy of sitting up in bed to see one swimming just outside.

Back door onto beach was superb!

The cottage is absolutely lovely! A gem in magical St Ives! Excellent location! Right on the harbour beach, close to another fantastic beach, great atmosphere; old, charming and picturesque, yet modern and cosy with all amenities. We loved it there, and we will most definitely come again!

Great location, very central but quiet with a lovely view across the harbour.

Breathtaking views of the sea from every window of the cottage. We felt very sad when our holiday finished...

This is a wonderful cottage right on the beach. A real home from home.

Location wonderfully, views to die for very clean and tidy lovely welcome pack much appreciated, the beds are so comfy it was hard getting up of a morning overall a fantastic stay

A gorgeous cottage for two , loved the changing view and listening to the sea ,

We stayed at 1 Quay Street, St Ives to be near enough to the sea so we could hear the sea, something both me and my husband find relaxing. The property position was better than we expected. The property was well equipped and beautifully presented.

This is a lovely cottage and we had a wonderful time exploring St Ives which is our new favourite place. The proximity to the beach and the amenities is perfect and such wonderful views.

Amazing views. Brilliant location. We spent an idyllic week in this very beautiful and comfortable cottage. Weather was great (for the time of year) as well.

Had a lovely stay at the cottage...views are to die for and ideal for all the coffee shops restaurants and bars...roll on next St Ives break and would highly recommend Aspects to all

1 Quay side, this little gem is probally in the best position in all of St Ives. You will spot this pretty little cottage in all the Art Galleries, as its part of the beautiful Harbour. The view from the lounge and bedroom is directly out to the beach, it was like a ever changing picture frame. We loved this cottage because it is directly on the beach, through a little door. which is very convenient if you fancy a cuppa or lunch . It was great because you didn't have to carry beach stuff miles. The cottage was beautiful inside, all high quality. The beds were very comfortable. We came home very rested and my mum and I can't wait until a visit next year!!

Fantastic location and views.
