Book

Situated within the half acre grounds of the main house, this timber clad eco lodge offers a slice of luxury in one of the most stunning locations on Cornwall's coastline. Perfectly equipped for couples or a family of four, the bi-fold doors open out onto a generous sized balcony with uninterrupted views across Porthkidney beach towards Godrevy Lighthouse and beyond.

This superb holiday home provides an excellent standard of accommodation with oak flooring with in-built lighting, a woodburner for cooler nights and stunning views from every room. The outside decked balcony is ideal for alfresco eating and relaxing on. Immediately opposite the Lodge runs the Coastal Path which will guide you along two miles of sheltered and incredibly picturesque coastline right into the heart of St Ives. Hawkes Point itself is a renowned angling spot, where sea bass pass on their way in and out of Hayle Estuary. The Lodge forms part of a small group of properties, Hawkes Point Cottage, Dolphin Watch and The Lookout, enabling larger parties to accommodate up to 20 people if required.

Please note: There are ground works taking place to prepare for the construction of a garage with an attached sunroom. This is taking place approximately 15 metres away from Dolphin watch, located between a neighbouring lodge and the main house. This intermittent work can only be seen when walking to the Dolphin Watch from the parking space, and we currently do not have an expected timeframe for completion. While the works can’t be seen from the property, when activity is taking place there is the potential for work to be heard. The view and location is exceptional. We were a family of four (with 11 and 5 year old boys) and found the whole experience very relaxing with enough space that we didn’t feel on top of each other. Clean and well equipped we had everything we needed for the week. Carbis bay beach is within walking distance as is the train station for easy access to St Ives and the loco coop a short walk to top up supplies. We loved coming back from a long day at the beach and cosying up in front of the fire watching a film or just enjoying the incredible view no matter the weather it’s majestic. Would highly recommend.

Probably better not to until ground and building works are complete.

We are so sorry that the groundworks you experienced during your stay were not what you were expecting. We work closely with owners, housekeepers and local trades to ensure that guests are given up to date and detailed information that accurately reflects what can be expected from work in the area, so we are disappointed this doesn't seem to be your experience. Please know we are speaking to the owner of the property to make sure we have all the relevant information for the project moving forward. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this during your stay. Katy, Customer Services.

Fabulous location, amazing apartment with great view of the ocean .loved the wood burner & how we could open the doors up to the ocean and was advised that there would a noise as they are doing work, it never bothered us during our stay.

The view from Dolphin Watch is amazing, a tip would be to take some binoculars, we forgot ours and ended up buying a pair in St Ives. Loved our stay, there was nothing I did not like about it. Very cosy, even in storm Ciaran, loved the wood burner we brought a bag of logs from home and lit it every night. Well equipped kitchen, and nicely furnished. Loved the location and all the costal paths for exploring. Loved the train into St Ives, such an easy way to travel and surprisingly cheap. Loved the beaches, loved the clear turquoise sea and especially all the seals in the sea. Perfect weeks stay, I did not want to leave. Yes the car parking space is small, and we had a large car which the owner helped us park in the space for the week, so was not an issue. Aspects were great too, from the initial enquiry, to the booking and then to the arrival, even gave Us travel information for our journey home about a road closure. Fab holiday I will definitely return.

Stunning location / views over looking Porthkidney beach, a 10 min walk to Carbis bay, comfortable living and would definitely recommend

We have been 5 times now to Dolphin Watch and it is one of our favourite places to have a family holiday. The property is great and the view is unbelievable. You can just sit and look at it all day if you want. The owner was great and asked us for feedback whilst we were there which was really nice and refreshing. He was keen to make sure we had a great holiday which we really appreciated. We have already booked again for next year and cannot wait to be back. Thanks again for a great holiday. Highly recommended.

Dolphin Watch is a very beautiful holiday home with a wonderful view. The large glass front, which can be opened wide, gives the impression of sitting above the beach in good weather. The short descent to the beach is easily doable and the location directly on the South West Coast Path is very nice. A very nice place to spend a quiet holiday.

This was the sixth time we’ve stayed at this location (stayed there back when they were the old properties before the rebuild) and, as always, it exceeded expectations. It’s the most amazing view you could ask for. It’s so peaceful and beautiful. The new properties are stunning. There’s everything you need. Immaculately clean. I could (and did on a few days!) sit on the decking from morning til night staring at the view. And, the little train that goes through at the bottom of the garden is also lovely. We genuinely don’t hear it now when we’re there. Adore this place and will definitely be going back….again!

Beautiful property with stunning views that really do look just as they appear online!

Excellent service from Aspects from start to finish

Beautiful views from a superbly equipped holiday home. Although parking a tad daunting, it is easy to access with time and care and the stay is well worth the effort.

We were over the moon with our accommodation , amazing views and we actually really loved the train going past and didn’t find it so noisy as other reviews have noted. It is much better than the photos which we were surprised by as it’s not always the case! Beds were comfy, we cooked in the one night and had all cooking utensils and pans we needed to cook our meal. There are lovely coastal walks if you walk over the train tracks. We were worried about the parking due to the other reviews and we had an estate car but it wasn’t too bad it is tight but once youve done it a couple of times it’s fine ! It was a lovely touch from aspect Hayle office when we picked our keys up to be handed a card and bottle as we come for our honeymoon , thank you !!

Had a lovely stay at Dolphins watch, loved the lodge ,the view is amazing and loved seeing the train go past. Not much not to like. The location for getting to st Ives , carbis Bay and Hayle on foot by car is excellent, nice friendly owners too. Thankyou for letting us stay in your lodge we had an amazing time

We stayed at Dolphin View for the week in Feb, stunning location and fabulous property.

We were lucky enough to watch Dolphins in the bay almost everyday of our stay.

Beautiful Location but disappoints on fixtures.

On arrival this apartment certainly has the wow factor. The views, layout and wood burner are fantastic.

On settling in you notice the heat damage to the worktop, then the worn out table mats, then the poor quality linen and the list goes on. All very cheap cutlery and crockery, a hotch potch of glasses and pans that are so poor quality some are not useable. Everything is budget level equipment that is now rather tired meaning that a fantastic location is spoilt by the lack of quality.

I’ve stayed with Aspect holidays several times and have nothing but praise for them but I am surprised they allow this low standard of equipment.

Thank you for your feedback following your stay at Dolphin Watch. We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed those fantastic views that the property has to offer, but it is a shame to hear that you felt the utensils provided could be improved. We will pass your comments along to the owner so they can take your thoughts into consideration, and we will also double check all of the cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils in the property during our next inspection to ensure they are suitable. The guest experience is incredibly important to both us and the property owner, so thank you for letting us know, and we very much hope we can welcome you back to the area soon. Katy, Customer Services.

One of the best views we've had! Waking up to the sweeping views of Gwythian beach is fabulous. The log burner is a brilliant addition for the winter months, though make sure to brings some additional logs, or grab a couple of bags from the Tesco up the road. The property is well-equipped, and the internet connection is good. Showers are quite poor but clean, and good enough.

As others have mentioned, the trains are regular from morning 'til night, and beep their horn on every pass, but it's not overly intrusive inside the property.

The path to the property is pretty sketchy, I'd recommend taking a torch if you plan on going out in the dark, as the lighting doesn't provide more than a guide of where the path leads.

The SW coastal path can be joined by the parking area, just cross the railway line and you're right on it for a nice walk down the beach, or continue along to Carbis Bay. The deli at Carbis bay hotel is a nice spot for a morning coffee.

The warnings about the amount of steps and access to the lodges plus the parking being tight when all 3 lodges are occupied MUST be taken into consideration BUT when you walk into the lodge and look through bifold doors or windows all that is soon forgotten, awesome uninterrupted views all around , ideal place to just chill and relax. Mr Turney October 2022

The most perfect place to have a holiday. We’ve been a number of times now and cannot wait to return. Everything about Dolphin Watch is fantastic.

Fantastic property that is fully equipped with everything you need for an amazing, stress free self catering vacation. You will never get bored of the amazing view across the beach/bay. Yes, the trains go past and give a little ‘toot toot’ every half hour or so but it didn’t bother us. The first train is about 7.15 am and the last one about 10.30 pm. The allocated parking space is at the bottom of a steep hill and would be very tight to navigate for larger vehicles, This property is accessed via 25+ steps and a gravel path so wheeling suitcases to the door is not possible. If you suffer with mobility issues getting to and from the property may be an issue. Property is located right on the coastal walking path with carbis bay beach and train station a 10-15 minute walk away. Ideally situated for visiting St Ives, St Michael’s Mount, Penzance, Lands End, Hayle, Falmouth.

Dolphin’s Watch is absolutely beautiful. The sea views are sensational. The kids loved playing in the balustrade. Truly a wonderful little lodge. We read the reviews about parking, however we managed to park our large seven seater quite easily (perhaps better for confident drivers). The main road had ample parking should you not want to park right at the property. It’s a beautiful 10-15 minute walk down to Carbis Bay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We’ve been booking with Aspects for the last five years and they continue to be excellent!!! Already looking for next year’s getaway!!! Dolphin’s Watch is a must!!!! Cannot recommend it enough!

Dolphin Watch was beautiful, with an amazing view. It was so relaxing to be there. We enjoyed using it as a base for sightseeing around Cornwall.

We enjoyed a perfect stay at Dolphin Watch - our fourth holiday at this location in two years. We love the cleanliness, the freshness of the bed linen and towels, and the layout of the property. Being able to see the vast expanse of the bay from every room made this yet another spectacular break. We received a perfect level of service from Aspects and the owner also checked in on our arrival to ensure all was ok. The drive down is tight so we reversed down the last stretch in order to easily park in the allocated parking space without having to try and turn the car around… highly recommended location - Atlantic View next door is equally as amazing!

Fantastic views from this very comfortable and cosy holiday house, close to the Coastal path, so lots of good walks & pretty sunsets. We love trains, so it was fun watching the branch line train go back and forward to St.Ives. Good central location, but believe the info about only small cars getting to the property. We don't have a small car but had no problem parking out big one on Headland Road and walking down.

What a fantastic property in a fantastic location.

We were absolutely blown away by this properly and will definitely be returning.

The views are brilliant and the position so close to the coastal path and also to the train station is idea.

I have to agree with other reviews about the parking not being ideal; however we didn’t struggle as we were prepared and came in our smaller car and there was only one other car there for the week. It would be tight had all 3 spaces being taken however.

The train is noticeable but it definitely fades into the background as the week progresses.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are delighted to hear how much you liked this lovely property and those stunning views. The parking spaces are tight, so we try to make this as clear as we possibly can on the website description as it really is only suitable for a small car. We are glad to hear that this was what you had expected and prepared for, so that you could make the most out of that facility there. Thanks for the feedback and we hope to see you back again. Tanya, Customer Services

Outstanding setting-description of parking and access very accurate-trains are frequent from early morning to late evening but they did not detract from the quiet position of ecolodge-electric heaters worked well and we used log burner once in our week. Aspects staff are extremely helpful.

A perfect holiday, will be coming back very soon.

The view from the apartment is absolutely stunning. No point in mentioning the parking - yes it's difficult but not impossible. Access is not easy but again that has been previously mentioned. I would say that the train (that someone says becomes white noise after a while) runs from 7.15am until 10.30pm - between 2 and 3 an hour and it always lets you know when it is coming! :) Not a major inconvenience but I feel worthy of a comment. Lovely to have the use of a logburner.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you liked Dolphin Watch, those stunning views, and the cosy log burner. Whilst the train passes by regularly at a relatively slow pace, you will hear a toot from the driver as a precaution, as it approaches the crossing. Some may notice it more than others, but children seem to love it as they get a wave from the driver! Hopefully the access and parking was as expected from the description and all previous feedback on it. It certainly sounds like you had a great time here; hopefully we will see you back again soon. Tanya, Customer Services

Great accommodation, picture perfect view and the train becomes white noise.

Was lovely to have the fire going with the sound of the ocean near by

Comfy beds!

Short walk to the train station or a 30 minute walk to st ives.

As others have said it had a narrow path and small/tight parking area but we were prepared for that.

This beautiful cottage is a real haven with stunning panoramic sea views from every room. Right on the coast path, a 30/40 min lovely walk to St Ives and with intermittent paths down to the various beaches. We took the little train back to Carbis Bay in the dark and walked along the road 10 mins easy walk. Loved watching the little train trundle by every 15 mins or so. Train doesn’t always stop at Lelant, be aware. Wood burner makes the evenings warm and cosy and the TV has Netflix. Bed comfy. No negatives for us. If you have mobility issues you would find the step access behind the main house very difficult and the parking is tricky but manageable. Proximity of the train might make it a no for small children and dogs. St Michaels Mount was a good visit at 8 miles away, only go at low tide. Great fish and chips in St Ives near the lifeboat launch and a fabulous treat in store at the beautiful Porthmeor Beach Cafe for probably the best cafe views in the country. Tate interesting but Barbara Hepworth Museum better (visited on a previous trip). Couldn’t really fault it and didn’t really want to write a good review as might not get a booking slot again!! Don’t hesitate.

What an outstanding view. Fantastic position, and with the bi-fold doors and log burner who could ask for more. Highly recommended.

Dolphin watch is perfectly positioned for watching the seals and surfers playing in the bay and a pleasant walk to Carbis bay or St Ives. perfect location for a stay in the area.

We had a fantastic week at Dolphin watch. It’s a beautiful setting. The parking is very tight and the access to the lodge is very tight. People with big cars would struggle. There are quite a few steps to the accommodation so if you have any problems with steps perhaps this accommodation is not for you. I would definitely go again. One of the nicest places I have stayed in.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

It was nice to hear how much you enjoyed the beautiful setting there; it really is stunning. The parking is definitely only suitable for a small car and the number of steps should certainly be considered before booking, if a member of your party is less mobile. We try to make all of this as clear as possible within the description, so we do hope that this was what you had expected, and hopefully we will see you back again. Tanya, Customer Services

The stay was fantastic and very relaxing. Due to what is going on in the world we did not venture into the pubs and restaurants but what was great we stayed in the lodge every evening and bought food and wine in, with a view like this why would you want to leave.

We absolutely loved our stay at Dolphin Watch! The property was exactly as pictured on the website, the location was brilliant (about a 10 minute walk into Carbis Bay where you can catch a 3 minute train to St Ives), and had incredible interrupted views of Porthkindey beach (which takes about 15 minutes to walk down to). The lodge was furnished beautifully and we found it very comfortable and homey. As the website says, access can be tricky as the steps up to the lodge are steep, and the road itself is very narrow, but we had no issues. Overall it was an amazing place to stay and unwind. We hope to be back in the future.

We have stayed at this location before they were rebuilt. We adored the old buildings but, the new ones are stunning!! Everything you could possibly need is catered for within the property. It’s a beautifully furnished and decorated place. We adore the location, the view is stunning and feels like the calmest place ever. It’s idyllic just sitting out on the decking with a G&T. We love the little coastal train that trundles past. There’s NOTHING we don’t like about staying at Hawkes Point. Can’t wait to go back next year.

         FANTASTIC STAY - WOW

The lodge was AMAZING & the view was incredible, i really didn't want to leave. Lodge has everything you need for a relaxing stay, very clean and well presented. We did find the beds very soft but that's a personal preference.

BE AWARE As the website warns, access is very tight, the lane down is very very narrow, we ended up taking my Mini and so pleased we did. Parking for 3 cars available but would be challenging, we were lucky as only ones there. Steps up and around to the lodge wouldn't suit anyone with mobility issues. Met the owners who were lovely and made us feel very welcome.

Will definitely be back as we were quite restricted with all the G7 preps going on but didn't spoil our time there, was interesting watching everything happening and all the police were really friendly, happy to chat with you.

Thank you ????? 5/5 stars

The lodges are excellent we like to visit every year. This is our 4th time. An excellent location.

Outstanding property. Wonderful views. Would recommend.

The lodge was comfortable with beautiful uninterrupted views of the bay and beyond. The log burning fire is great for the colder months. During busy periods there is no available parking up on the top road if you can't park in the tight space at the bottom of the hill which can be problematic. There is a regular local train service thats runs on the coastal line between St.Erth and St.Ives which runs across the bottom of the garden which we found charming and loved waving to the passengers from the balcony. We found it much quicker and cheaper to travel on the train than by bus to go into St.Ives. For walkers there is a narrow coastal path that leads down through the trees and dunes to Porthkidney beach just across the train tracks. Carbis Bay is only a few minutes back up the road where you can catch the train into St.Ives or visit the beautiful beach with lovely new beach bar and cafe. There is also a coastal path from Carbis Bay to St.Ives. Due to its secluded location the access to the property could prove challenging for some people and those with smaller children. This property is more suitable for confident drivers with very small cars due to the tiny parking space cut into the rocks and tight single track road with steep gradient and blind bend with a drop onto the train tracks below on one side. The long steep winding path from the car has lots of steep steps (about 50) leading up and across the top of the garden at roof line of the main house and then back down to the lodge. Several smaller, lighter bags rather than one large, heavy suitcase is much more manageable on such terrain.

Fabulous place to stay in every way, but those views.....

We had a wonderful week in Dolphin Watch, which is a perfect location for the coastal path, beach and local facilities. At Ives and Hayle all accessibility by car or the coastal paths. Amazing views! The lodge is light, airy, spacious and has the most magical views across the bay. Aspects staff were really responsive and informative. Parking was tight but very clearly explained. The Aspects element is beautifully planned and crafted... Bathroom heaters are amazing - so cleverly considered! All white goods perfectly clean and excellent quality. We have already booked again to stay in the lodge next door, for 2021 - fabulous!

Stayed for one week and the property and location is absolutely stunning

Lovely place to stay, I would definitely recommend it. But be aware: The train At the front of the property passes roughly every 15 minutes and toots on approach between 7am and 10.30pm so if you don’t fancy that don’t book. And your luggage is best in more small bags than one big bag unless you have a strong man to transport from the car to the cabin as it’s lots of steps. Hope that helps. It is a great place and lovely for walking and sightseeing ??

Superb property, views and location perfect, for relaxing or walking , the coastal path is just outside the property., and 20 minutes from St Ives. We enjoyed our stay so much, we booked again for 2020.

Just a beautiful place to spend a holiday. Perfect view and lovely rooms. We’ve been twice before and have booked again.

a great place to stay peaceful great views

Excellent

Excellent accommodation that met expectations. No complaints, what more is there to say?

Fantastic location, we cant wait to return in 2020.

Loved this place ,, the accommodation, the location the comfy beds and nice big showers. Like home from home but a better view ! Could do with blackout blinds in bedrooms though as awake so early and on holiday need a lie in lol. Definitely be back ????????

Dolphin Watch Hawkes Point is a delightful place to relax and unwind. Owner and agents very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay immensely and will hopefully return again to take in the beautiful surroundings and listen to the waves lapping the shoreline. We used the coastal path daily to walk to St Ives but you would have to be fairly fit as it was quite hilly in places, yet worth the effort to take in the views on the way. Lovely to return and relax with a drink in the evening looking out over the sea views. Overall would recommend this booking easily.

Amazing views, would love to return

We really enjoyed our stay, the accommodation was bright, clean, modern and the views are amazing. We found the small things like the addition of a torch really helpful as it is dark when walking back at night. Only downside is the parking arranagements which required you to reverse down a narrow steep lane, unless this is sorted out we would never book this property again.

We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your time at Dolphin Watch; those views really are out of this world. Due to its location, perched right over Porthkidney Beach, the access can be a little tricky. However, we would not advise reversing down the access lane. Whilst the land through the gates to Hawkes Point Cottage is for the sole use of those guests, you are able to drive down the lane (forward), and go through the gates in order to turn in the parking area there, so that you are facing the correct way to drive out of your space outside of these gates. We hope that this helps, and hopefully we will see you back again soon. Tanya, Customer Services

Absolutely stunning property with amazing views. We were blown away and haven't stopped raving about it since we returned. Would love to go back one day. We did quite a lot of walking up and down steep hills so would suggest that it is better suited to families with older children and not little ones. Our daughters were 6 and 8 and could handle the hills and the 12 minute walk down to Carbis Bay. Would highly recommend.

Had a fantastic relaxing holiday at Dolphin watch , The log burner was amazing it added to our relaxing atmosphere while taking in the view from the settee . It was an amazing holiday & we can't wait to go back again in 2017 , Dolphin watch was spot on to the pictures & description in the online brochure & everyone was so helpful when making the booking & throughout the holiday . Thanks for a fantastic holiday ! ??

gorgeous location, handy for the stunning beaches.

Fabulous property in a great 'blow away the cobwebs' location.

I would love to put something about what a wonderful property which is a great credit to the owner and the person who looks after it but I cannot due to car access

We are very sorry that you experienced issues with accessing your parking space. Despite you having a vehicle which would be a suitable size to fit the advertised small space, on this occassion, there was a car at the top of the road, blocking the rest of the road that leads to this property. We contacted the agents that market the property where that car was parked, and tried everything possible to resolve the situation, and are so sorry that this happened during your stay. I hope that the actions taken by the team, to resolve the matter for you, helped; we are just sorry that you experienced that problem earlier on in your stay. Tanya, Customer Services.

Beautiful modern clean lodge with a stunning view across Carbis Bay. St Ives a short drive or train ride away. Access not really suitable for older guests or people with large cars as parking can be an issue.

We are delighted to hear that you liked this beautiful property; those views are just amazing aren't they? With its tucked away position on Hawkes Point, great access to the coastal path and the most amazing views, it does mean that the access is tricky and not suitable for everyone, and parking at the property, is not suitable for all vehicles. We are very sorry if this was not what you had expected, and hope that it didn't cause your party any problems. For anyone interested in these properties, we strongly advise checking through the website description, and please do not hesitate to call one of the sales team, so that we can check that it is going to be the right place for you. Fantastic views and great if you love trains!

A fantastic clean and modern cottage with stunning sea views.

An absolutely fantasticly comfortable property. The views are amazing and it is well worth walking the coast path in to St Ives.
