Trereife Easter Fair, near Penzance | April 2014

Those taking a holiday near Penzance this Bank Holiday will not be disappointed by building this visit into their Easter itinerary.  Running from today (Fri 18th) until Monday 21st April, Trereife House near Penzance is hosting its forth Easter Food and Craft Fair.

Throughout the four-day period the historic country house and estate is laying on a series of cookery and craft demonstrations as well as a programme of family entertainment. There are stalls selling locally produced foods such as delicious Cornish cheeses, ciders, fresh and smoked fish – and a whole array of craft products to get your Bank Holiday budget burning a hole in your pocket.

Never ones to miss out on a good event in west Cornwall, we popped along today to see what it’s all about. Helped along of course by an unbroken dose of beautiful Cornish sunshine, we can say that this year’s event amounts to truly great day out for everyone, especially the kids who can join in with the all-important ‘Grand Easter Egg Hunt’ set within the woods and around the walled garden.

Even in the absence of this weekend’s event, the attractive, centuries old house and surrounding estate of are worthy of a visit on their own merit.

The house is open to the public all year round. Visitors can enjoy tours of the manor house, which sits at the centre of the estate and dates back to the time of Elizabeth I, and stroll the extensive estate with diverse and well-kept gardens.
