St. Ives Food & Drink Festival

St. Ives Food & Drink Festival

Aspects holidays have been working with Mercury PR to coordinate the towns’ very first food & drink festival in June.Preparations for the festival, which runs from June 14th with a number of daily events in some of the towns’ bars & restaurants, building up through the week to the main Festival weekend on June 19th & 20th are already well under way. It is hoped that food & drink producers from across West Cornwall will be taking part in the festival along with cooking demonstrations, recipe ideas and a range of food & drink related events such as food producer master classes, wine tasting and chocolate making.   The focal point for the main weekend will be the St Ives Guildhall, with stalls from food & drink producers from in and around West Cornwall, and food demonstrations from local chef’s running on both days. There will also be a number of break out events over the weekend such as a family event at the Tate to keep people in the town and moving through it. In addition to the main festival itself, there will also be a St Ives food & drink trail produced, a map of St Ives & surrounding area highlighting all food and drink related outlets, which visitors can use throughout the year, in addition to a festival website and a national, local & regional PR campaign which is hoped will bring hundreds of people to the town from both in and out of the county.   “The idea is to host, hold and run a food & drink festival to champion all that is great about food & drink in and around St Ives & West Cornwall. The response from everyone we have spoken to about it has been really positive. We have a steering committee, the support of the town council, and some of the restaurants already on board and want as many people as possible to get involved” said one of the organisers Graham Buckley of Mercury PR. “Existing events such as the Newlyn Fish Festival and more recently the Porthleven and the Cornwall Food and Drinks Festivals in addition to the Falmouth Oyster Festival have proven very successful and there is no reason why St Ives cannot, in time, rival these” he added.    For more information please go to www.stivesfoodanddrinkfestival.co.uk
